When simulating the process from elastic–plastic deformation,damage to failure in a metal structure collision,it is necessary to use the large shell element due to the calculation efficiency,but this would affect the...When simulating the process from elastic–plastic deformation,damage to failure in a metal structure collision,it is necessary to use the large shell element due to the calculation efficiency,but this would affect the accuracy of damage evolution simulation.The compensation algorithm adjusting failure strain according to element size is usually used in the damage model to deal with the problem.In this paper,a new nonlinear compensation algorithm between failure strain and element size was proposed,which was incorporated in the damage model GISSMO(Generalized incremental stress state dependent damage model)to characterize ductile fracture.And associated material parameters were calibrated based on tensile experiments of aluminum alloy specimens with notches.Simulation and experimental results show that the new compensation algorithm significantly reduces the dependence of element size compared with the constant failure strain model and the damage model with the linear compensation algorithm.During the axial splitting process of a circular tubular structure,the new compensation algorithm keeps the failure prediction errors low over the stress states ranging from shear to biaxial tension,and achieves the objective prediction of the damage evolution process.This study demonstrates how the compensation algorithm resolves the contradiction between large element size and fracture prediction accuracy,and this facilitates the use of the damage model in ductile fracture prediction for engineering structures.展开更多

In the event of oil spill, oth-er than taking the necessary emergent measures aiming specifically at the damage to the marine ecology and environment, using legal means to assure that the damage liabilities are borne by the respon-sible persons to protect the national interests are also very neces-sary. This paper advances five recommendations regarding the development of a system for ecological legal compensations from the standpoint of the current status of legislation and execution of the laws on compensation of oil spill polluting marine ecosystem. These five recommendations include: determination of the status of juristic action in marine ecological and environmental compen-sations in accordance with the laws, determination of plaintiff of marine ecological and environmental compensations in accordance with the laws, determination of the four basic principles in the le-gal actions of marine ecological and environmental compensations in accordance with the laws, determination of assessment technical standard of marine ecological and environmental damages in ac-cordance with the laws, and determination of the scope of marine ecological and environmental compensations in accordance with the laws.展开更多
The frequent occurrence of hailstorm in Xinjiang affects cotton(Gossypium hirsutum L.)production and causes enormous economic loss.The indeterminate growth habit of cotton allows for varying degrees of recovery and yi...The frequent occurrence of hailstorm in Xinjiang affects cotton(Gossypium hirsutum L.)production and causes enormous economic loss.The indeterminate growth habit of cotton allows for varying degrees of recovery and yield when different hail damage levels occur at different stages,which brings inconvenience to agricultural insurance claims and post-damage management.Therefore,this study aimed to elucidate cotton recovery and yield responses to different levels of simulated hail damage at different growth stages.Four levels of hail damage(0,30,60,and 90%)were simulated every 15 d from the five-leaf stage to the boll opening stage in 2018 and 2019,for a total of six times(Ⅰ,Ⅱ,Ⅲ,Ⅳ,Ⅴ,and Ⅵ).The results showed that seed cotton yield decreased as the damage level increased and yield reduction increased when the damage was applied to older plants(for 30,60 and 90% damage levels,yield reduction was 9-17%,22-37% and 48-71%,respectively).One possible reason was that the leaf area index and leaf area duration of plant canopy decreased after hail damage,resulting in a reduction in the accumulation of above-ground biomass.However,when hail damage occurred before bloom,due to the indeterminate growth habit of cotton,the vegetative organs produced a strong compensation ability that promoted the bud development.The compensation ability of vegetative organs decreased when hail damage occurred after bloom and the recovery time was too short to promote new boll maturity.As the first study to understand the recovery of cotton after hail damage,it analyzed the leaf area index,leaf area duration,above-ground biomass accumulation and yield,rather than the yield alone.The findings are of great importance for cotton production as they inform decisions about post-damage management practices,yield forecasts and insurance compensation.展开更多
