Extensive field tests and laboratory experi- ments are undertaken to evaluate its performance a...A new type of displacement pile, the X-section cast-in-place concrete (XCC) pile, has recently been developed in China. Extensive field tests and laboratory experi- ments are undertaken to evaluate its performance and quantify the non-uniform deforma- tion effect (NUDE) of the X-shaped cross section during installation. This paper develops a simplified theoretical model that attempts to capture the NUDE. Based on the theory of complex variable plane elasticity, closed-form solutions of the stress and displacement for the X-shaped cavity boundary value problem are given. Subsequently, the analytical solution is used to evaluate the NUDE, the concrete filling index (CFI), and the perimeter reduction coefficient of the XCC pile cross section. The computed results are compared with field test results, showing reasonable agreement. The present simplified theoretical model reveals the deformation mechanism of the X-shaped cavity and facilitates applica- tion of the newly developed XCC pile technique in geotechnical engineering.展开更多

Furthermore, the stress intensity factors are determined by the variational method to satisfy the boundary conditions and there are only line integrals in the variational equations due to the previous satisfaction of all basic equations. The computations show that this method of solution has the advantages of rapid convergency and time-saving. The results obtained by this method for homogeneous material agree with the known ones very well.展开更多
Three electrokinetic(EK) experiments were designed to study the remediation efficiency of Cr(Ⅲ) by EK-oxidation method and to investigate the influence of complexes and p H buffer solution in EK-oxidation process...Three electrokinetic(EK) experiments were designed to study the remediation efficiency of Cr(Ⅲ) by EK-oxidation method and to investigate the influence of complexes and p H buffer solution in EK-oxidation process. Sediments Cr(Ⅲ) can be oxidized into Cr(Ⅵ) effectively by KMn O4, but the oxidation efficiency is not proportional to the dose of oxidant, and chemical oxidation process leads to a bit lower buffering capacity of the sediment. Compared with the simple EK remediation, the removal efficiency of total Cr in the sediments increased 32.6% by EK-oxidation method, and the concentrations of total chromium in the sediment showed increasing trend from the cathode to the anode after EK-oxidation treatment. The p H control and KMn O4 improved the removal of Cr(Ⅵ) and total Cr from the sediments. Due to stronger complexation action of citric acid with Cr(Ⅲ) in sediments, citric acid in the catholyte obviously increased the removal rate of total Cr in sediments. Finally, the removal rate of total Cr from sediments reached 60.9% by adding complex and controlling the p H of cathode and anode pond solution on EK-oxidation processes.展开更多

The hybrids were characterized by elemental analysis, X-ray diffraction, FT-IR spectra, UV-vis DRS, TG-DTA and SEM observation. An analytical model based on complex variable theory is proposed to investigate ground responses due to shallow tunneling in multi-layered ground with an arbitrary ground surface load.The ground layers are assumed to ...An analytical model based on complex variable theory is proposed to investigate ground responses due to shallow tunneling in multi-layered ground with an arbitrary ground surface load.The ground layers are assumed to be linear-elastic with full-stick contact between them.To solve the proposed multi-boundary problem,a series of analytic functions is introduced to accurately express the stresses and displacements contributed by different boundaries.Based on the principle of linear-elastic superposition,the multi-boundary problem is converted into a superposition of multiple single-boundary problems.The conformal mappings of different boundaries are independent of each other,which allows the stress and displacement fields to be obtained by the sum of components from each boundary.The analytical results are validated based on numerical and in situ monitoring results.The present model is superior to the classical model for analyzing ground responses of shallow tunneling in multi-layered ground;thus,it can be used with assurance to estimate the ground movement and surface building safety of shallow tunnel constructions beneath surface buildings.Moreover,the solution for the ground stress distribution can be used to estimate the safety of a single-layer composite ground.展开更多
