Phase constituents of the coatings were predicted by thermodynamic calculations in the Ti-BnC-Al and Ti-B-C-Al systems, respectively, and were validated well by X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis results. Microstructural and metallographic analyses were made by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and electron probe micro-analysis (EPMA). The results show that the coatings are mainly composed of α-Ti cellular dendrites and the eutecticum in which a large number of needle-shaped TiB and a few equiaxial TiC particles are embedded. C is enriched in α-Ti cellular dendrites and far exceeds the theoretical maximum dissolubility, owing to the extension of saturation during laser cladding. The coatings have a good metallurgical bond with the substrate due to the existence of the dilution zone, in which a great amount of lamella β-Ti grains consisting of a thin needle-shaped martensitic microstructure are present and grow parallel to the heat flux direction; a few TiB and TiC reinforcements are observed at the boundaries of initial β-Ti grains.展开更多

On the contrary, the addition of PTFE in the bath decreases cathodic deposition current density of the coatings. The current density increases a little when the amount of RE is 7-9g/l; however, the current density increases greatly when the amount of RE is increased to 11-13g/l. Bui ij the amount of RE is raised further, the current density decreases. Hardness and wear resistance of RE-Ni-W-P-SiC composite coating have been studied, and the results show that the hardness and wear resistance of RE-Ni-W-P-SiC composite coating increase with increasing heat treatment tempera-ture, which reach peak values at 400℃; while the hardness and wear resistance of the coating decrease with the rise of heat treated temperature continuously.展开更多

The abrasive wear be- havior and interface diffusion behavior of the composite coatings were evaluated by dry/wet rubber wheel abrasive wear tests and heat treat- ment, respectively. Experimental results indicate that the composite coatings exhibit features of adhesive wear. Besides, the Vickers micro- hardness of NiA1 and Ni3AI intermetallic compounds is relatively larger than that of the substrate, which is beneficial for enhancing the wear resistance. With the increase of annealing temperature and time, the interface diffusion area between the Ni-Al coating and the substrate gradually expands with the formation of NiAl3 and Ni2Al3 phases, and is controlled by diffusion of aluminum atoms. The grain growth ex- ponent n of diffusion kinetics of the Ni-Al coating, calculated via a high-temperature diffusion model at 400, 480, and 550℃, is between 0.28 and 0.38. This satisfies the cubic law, which is consistent with the general theoretical relationship of high-temperature diffusion.展开更多

The coatings had amorphous nano-phase composite structure. Direct current and alternating current electrochemical tests were carried out on such coatings in a 3.5wt% solution of NaCl to evaluate their corrosion resistance. The potentiodynamic polarization, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) tests, and exposure experiments all show that the corrosion resistance of NiP-SiC coatings first increases and then decreases when the SiC content increases, but the corrosion resistance of NiP-SiC composite coating is better than that of amorphous NiP coatings.展开更多

The effects of the type and thickness of the pre-coated layer on the binding structure and surface qual- ity of the coating were systematically investigated. The macrostructure, phase composition, and bonding interface between the coating and the substrate were investigated by scanning electronic microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and energy-dispersive X-ray spectrometry (EDS). The diffraction patterns indicated that the coating essentially consisted of α-Al2O3, Fe(Cr), and FeO-Al2O3. With an increase in the thickness of the pre-coated working layer, the coating became more smooth and compact. The transition layer played an important role in enhancing the binding between the coating and the substmte. When the pre-coated working layer was 10 mm and the pre-coated transition layer was 1 ram, a compact structure and metallurgical bonding with the substrate were obtained. Thermal shock test results indicated that the ceramic coating exhibited good thermal shock resistance when the sample was rapidly quenched from 800℃ to room temperature by plunging into water.展开更多

However, cracking of surface coating is a common problem due to heat concentration in laser nitriding process. Conventionally, the cracks can be avoided through heat treatment, which may have an important influence on the mechanical properties of coating. Crack-free TiN/Ti3Al IMC coatings on Ti6Al4V are prepared by plasma spraying and laser nitriding. The microstructures, phase constitutes and compositions of the coating are observed and analyzed with scanning electron microscopy(SEM), X-ray diffraction(XRD) and X-ray energy-dispersive spectroscopy(EDS). Microhardness, elastic modulus, fracture toughness of the coating are measured. The results show that the crackand pore-free IMC coatings can be made through the proposed method; with increasing laser power, the amount and density of TiN phase in the coating first increased and then decreased, leading to the similar trend of microhardness and elastic modulus and the reverse trend of fracture toughness of the coating. Both the average microhardness and elastic modulus of the coating increase three times higher than those of the substrate. The volume fraction of the TiN reinforced phase in composite can be controlled by varying the laser power and the cracking problem in laser nitriding process is successfully solved.展开更多

The results indicate that pulse current can improve the deposition rate of RE-Ni-W-P-SiC composite coatings; W, P, and SiC contents in the coating decrease with the increase of pulse frequency and reach the lowest value at f = 33Hz, whereas the RE content in the composite coatings increases with the increase of pulse frequency. SiC content decreases with the increase of duty cycle, W content reaches the lowest value, and P content reaches the highest value at r = 0.4; pulse current and RE can lead to smaller size of the crystalline grains; however, the effects of different pulse frequency and duty cycle on the morphologies of RE-Ni-W-P-SiC composite coatings are not obvious. The hardness of RE-Ni-W-P-SiC composite coatings is the highest when the duty cycle is at 0.6 and 0.8 and pulse frequency is at 50Hz. At the same pulse frequency, the hardness of RE-Ni-W-P-SiC composite coatings at r= 0.8 is higher than that at r= 0.6.展开更多

The surface morphology and component of coatings were investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), respectively before and after wear test. It is found that the Ni-P-PTWs composite coatings exhibit higher wear resistance than Ni-P and Ni-P-SiC electroless coatings. The favorable effects of PTWs on the tribological properties of the composite coatings are attributed to the super-strong mechanical properties and the specific tunneling structures of PTWs. The coatings have a good metallurgical bond with the substrate due to the existence of the dilution zone, in which a great amount of lamella β-Ti grains consisting of a thin needle-shaped martensitic microstructure are present and grow parallel to the heat flux direction; a few TiB and TiC reinforcements are observed at the boundaries of initial β-Ti grains.

文摘Cathodic deposition current density of the composite coatings increases when SiC par-ticles and rare earth (RE) were added in the bath, which is profitable for Ni- W-P alloy to deposit in the cathod, forming Ni-W-P-SiC and RE-Ni-W-P-SiC composite coatings. Hardness and wear resistance of RE-Ni-W-P-SiC composite coating have been studied, and the results show that the hardness and wear resistance of RE-Ni-W-P-SiC composite coating increase with increasing heat treatment tempera-ture, which reach peak values at 400℃; while the hardness and wear resistance of the coating decrease with the rise of heat treated temperature continuously.
文摘The Effects of heat treatment temperature on the hardness, wear resistance and structure of the amorphous Ni-W-P-SiC composite coatings have been investigated. The results show that Ni-W-P-SiC composite coatings are amorphous under 300℃, partially crystalline at 300-400℃,and crystalline when heat treatment temperature reaches 400℃,the crystals being fine Ni3P phase particles. The hardness, wear resistance and the crystallization temperature of the composite coatings increase when an additive is added into the bath. The hardness and wear resistance of the coatings increase with increasing heat treatment temperature, and they will reach their peak values when the heat treatment temperature reaches 400℃.Corrosion experiment indicates that the corrosion resistance of amorphous Ni-W-P-SiC composite coatings in various kinds of corrosive media except nitric acid is better than that of stainless steel 1Cr18Ni9Ti.Scanning electron microscopy observation shows that the additive has no effect on the surface appearance of the coatings, but the current density and the pH value have considerable effects on the surface appearance.

文摘We have systematically studied the microstructure and mechanical properties of Ni-5wt%Al and Ni-20wt%Al composite coat- ings fabricated on 6061-T6 aluminum alloy sheet by twin-wire arc spraying under different experimental conditions. This satisfies the cubic law, which is consistent with the general theoretical relationship of high-temperature diffusion.

文摘NiP-SiC (≈1 1wt% P) composite coatings were electroplated in a Brenner type plating bath. The coatings had amorphous nano-phase composite structure. Direct current and alternating current electrochemical tests were carried out on such coatings in a 3.5wt% solution of NaCl to evaluate their corrosion resistance. The potentiodynamic polarization, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) tests, and exposure experiments all show that the corrosion resistance of NiP-SiC coatings first increases and then decreases when the SiC content increases, but the corrosion resistance of NiP-SiC composite coating is better than that of amorphous NiP coatings.

文摘The fabrication of an alumina-metal composite coating onto a carbon steel substrate by using a self-propagating high-temperature synthesis technique was demonstrated. Thermal shock test results indicated that the ceramic coating exhibited good thermal shock resistance when the sample was rapidly quenched from 800℃ to room temperature by plunging into water.

文摘Laser nitriding is one of the effective techniques to improve the surface properties of titanium alloys and has potential application in the life extension of last-stage steam turbine blades. The volume fraction of the TiN reinforced phase in composite can be controlled by varying the laser power and the cracking problem in laser nitriding process is successfully solved.
文摘The effects of pulse frequency f and duty cycle r on the deposition rate, composition, morphology, and hardness of pulse electrodeposited RE (rare earth)-Ni-W-P-SiC composite coatings have been studied. At the same pulse frequency, the hardness of RE-Ni-W-P-SiC composite coatings at r= 0.8 is higher than that at r= 0.6.

文摘To improve the surface properties of magnesium alloys, a study was conducted on Cu-Zr-A1 composite coatings on AZ91HP magnesium alloy by laser cladding. The influence of laser scanning speed on the microstructures and properties of the coatings was discussed. The coatings consist of amorphous phase, CusZr3, and Cul0ZrT. With the increase of laser scanning speed, the amorphous phase content of the coatings increases and reaches 60.56wt% with the laser scanning speed of 2.0 m/min. Because of the influence of laser scanning speed on the amorphous and crystal phases, the coatings show the maximum elastic modulus, hardness, and wear resistance at the laser scanning speed of 1.0 m/min. At the laser scanning speed of 2.0 m/min, the coatings have the best corrosion resistance.
文摘Immersion experiment results show that corrosion rate of the as deposited RE Ni W P SiC composite coating in HCl solutions increases with the rise of HCl concentration. On the contrary, the corrosion rate of the composite coating after heat treatment decreases with increasing HCl concentration. The corrosion rates of the composite coatings in as deposited state and after heat treatment in H 2SO 4 and H 3PO 4 solutions respectively decrease with the rise of H 2SO 4 and H 3PO 4 concentrations. The corrosion rate of the composite coating as deposited in FeCl 3 solutions decreases with increasing FeCl 3 concentration, while the rate of the composite coating after heat treatment increases with the rise of FeCl 3 concentration. The corrosion rate of 316L stainless steel in the corrosion media of H 2SO 4, HCl, H 3PO 4 and FeCl 3 solutions at different concentrations increases with rising concentration. In addition, the corrosion rate of 316L stainless steel in the corrosion media of H 2SO 4, HCl, H 3PO 4 and FeCl 3 solutions respectively is much greater than that of the RE Ni W P SiC composite coating as deposited and after heat treatment in the same corrosion media. 文摘Nickel-phosphorus (Ni-P) composite coatings containing potassium titanate (K2Ti6O13) whiskers (PTWs) were prepared by electroless plating. The surface morphology and component of coatings were investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), respectively before and after wear test. The tribological performance was evaluated using a pin-on-disk wear tester under dry conditions. The PTWs greatly reinforce the structure of the Ni-P-based composite coatings and thereby greatly reduce the adhesive and plough wear of Ni-P-PTWs composite coatings.
