It is found that there are two stages in the DNA condensation process under torsional constraint. At the early stage, the low torsion will accelerate DNA condensation by promoting the formation of micro-loops or intersection structures; while at the later stage, the increasing torsion will slow it down by preventing the crosslinking of cisplatin and DNA since the DNA molecule becomes more rigid. Our results show the important role of torsion in DNA condensation and sheds new light on the mechanism for DNA condensation.展开更多

STm showed strong condensation effect of Chol in fluidic DPPC monolayer. Excess area (Sex) from mean mixing state of DPPC and Chol was about twice larger than that by general compression method in the range from xC = 0.2 to 0.4 (xC: mole fraction of Chol). BAM and FM images showed clearly that the fluidic DPPC monolayer changed to condensed rigid monolayer due to the condensation effect of Chol. At more than xC = 0.3 DPPC-Chol mixed monolayer changed to condensed state similar to the Chol monolayer. These results support previous reports by compression method that Chol molecule demonstrates the strong condensation effect to the fluidic monolayer and also indicate that dropping method enables to form unique monolayer on the water surface.展开更多

The results suggested that a higher SCE, ( 17. 0/ cell) was observed In 2BS cells treated with CSC at 100 μg/ml, as compared with 6. 9/cell of the background (P<0. 001). CA rate was significantly increased from 4% to 36% In cells treated with 10 μg/ml CSC (P< 0.001). MN rate varied from 9 -26‰ In cells treated with CSC compared to that of control (6‰). Meanwhile, the cell-cycle of cells was markedly delayed by CSC. The survival rate of 2BS cells declined to 59. 6% for treatment with CSC at 200 μg/ ml. There was a dose-effect response In SCE., CA, MN rate. We proposed that active oxygen might responsible for genotoxiclty of CSC on cells.展开更多

The size effects of counterion structure on the toroidal structure can be detected by this model. The autocorrelation function of the tangent vectors is found as an effective way to detect the structure of toroidal conformations and the generic pathway of the process of DNA condensation. The generic pathway of all of the configurations involves an initial nucleation loop, and the next part of the DNA chain is folded on the top of the initial nucleation loop with different manners, in agreement with the recent experimental results.展开更多
