The deicing experiment of carbon fiber reinforced electrically conductive concrete (CFRC) slab was conducted in laboratory at first, then the deicing process of CFRC parement was analyzed by means of finite element method (FEM). At last, based on the energy conservation law and the computing restdts of finite element method, the influential factors including the setting of electric heating layer, environmental temperature, the thickness of ice, material parameters, and deicing power on deicing performance and energy consumption were discussed. 展开更多

This paper discussed two methods to enhance the electrical conductivity of the carbon fiber(CF) electrically conductive concrete. The increase in the content of stone and the amount of water used to dissolve the methylcellulose and marinate the carbon fibers can decrease the electrical resistivity of the electrically conductive concrete effectively. Based on these two methods, the minimum CF content of the CF electrically conductive concrete for deicing or snow-melting application and the optimal ratio of the amount of water to dissolve the methylcellulose and marinate the carbon fibers were obtained. 展开更多

Carbon fiber reinforced concrete (CFRC) is a kind of good electrothermal material. When connected to an external power supply, stable and uniform heat suitable for deicing application is generated in the CFRC slab. Electric heating and deicing experiments of carbon fiber reinforced concrete slab were carried out in laboratory, and the effect of the temperature and thickness of ice, the thermal conductivity of CFRC, and power output on deicing performance and energy consumption were investigated. The experimental results indicate that it is an effective method to utilize the thermal energy produced by CFRC slab to deice. The time to melt the ice completely decreases with increasing power output and ice temperature, and increases with increasing thickness of the ice. The energy consumption to melt 2 mm thickness of ice varies approximately linearly from 0.556 to 0.846 kW·h/m2 as the initial temperature ranges from -3℃ to - 18℃. CFRC with good thermal conduction can reduce temperature difference in CFRC slab effectively. 展开更多

An experimental investigation into the thermal conductivity of CF-SiC two-phase composite asphalt concrete is presented.The main objective of this study was to verify the possibility of using SiC powder instead of mineral powder as the thermal conductive filler to prepare a new type of asphalt concrete and improve the efficiency of electrothermal snow and ice melting systems accordingly.The thermal conductivity of asphalt concrete prepared with different thermally conductive fillers was tested by a transient plane source method,and the related performances were measured.Then the temperature rise rate and surface temperature were studied through field heating tests.Finally,the actual ice melting efficiency of the thermally conductive asphalt concrete was evaluated using an effective electrothermal system.As shown by the experimental results,the composite made of SiC powder and carbon fiber has a high thermal conductivity.When SiC replaces mineral powder,the thermal conductivity of the asphalt mixture increases first and then decreases with the increase of carbon fiber content.In the present study,in particular,the thermal conductivity attained a peak when the carbon fiber content was 0.2%of the aggregate mass. 展开更多

The objective of this work is to develop a novel methodology for determining real resistivity of conductive asphalt concrete based on two-electrode method.Due to an influence of contact resistance,the measured resistivity is always not equal to the real resistivity.To determine the real resistivity,a linear relationship of the measured resistivity,contact resistance and the real resistivity was established.Then experiments for six specimens with varying graphite contents were designed and performed to validate the formulation.Results of experiments demonstrate that the slope of the line represents contact resistance,and the intercept indicates the real resistivity.The effects of graphite content on contact resistance and real resistivity are also revealed.Finally,results show that the influence of contact resistance on accuracy of resisitvity measurement becomes more serious if graphite content is beyond 3%.Hence,it is the time to choose this novel methodology to determine the real resistivity of asphalt concrete by taking account of contact resistance. 展开更多

Investigation on Fatigue Model of Asphalt Concrete Containing Conductive Fillers

The snow and ice on asphalt pavement are very dangerous to people,automobiles and airplanes,so melting snow and ice becomes a high profile. Investigation on the asphalt concrete containing conductive fillers has a great contribution to the researches of melting snow and ice. However,it is few to research on the fatigue behavior which is important in the profile. By four-point bending fatigue tests,the specific fatigue models of conductive asphalt concrete were developed. The parameters of three fatigue models were regressed,the three models predicted the fatigue behavior by the strain levels,the strain levels and initial mix stiffness and dissipated energy respectively. In the model of the strain levels,the fatigue life is decreased at the same strain level as the conductive filler is added. The model based on the strain levels and initial mix stiffness reveals that the fatigue life is partly affected by the initial mix stiffness which is influenced by the conductive filler. The model used the dissipated energy approach is adopted to predict the fatigue behavior with the introduction of the impact the conductive filler on the dissipated energy. 展开更多

Long lifetime sustainable porous asphalt concrete containing steel fibers was designed. The material is self healing in such a sense that some external stimulus is needed in the form of heating by induction energy. Steel wool was added to porous asphalt concrete to enhance its electrical conductivity and induction heating was applied to increase the temperature to heal the micro-cracks and repair the bonding between aggregate and binder. The main purpose of this paper is to examine the mechanical properties of this sustainable porous asphalt concrete including indirect tensile strength,work of fracture,particle loss resistance and water sensitivity. It is found that adding steel fibers to porous asphalt concrete to increase the healing performance also can improve its overall mechanical properties. 展开更多
