The generalized travelling salesman problem(GTSP),a generalization of the well-known travelling salesman problem(TSP),is considered for our study.Since the GTSP is NP-hard and very complex,finding exact solutions is highly expensive,we will develop genetic algorithms(GAs)to obtain heuristic solutions to the problem.In GAs,as the crossover is a very important process,the crossovermethods proposed for the traditional TSP could be adapted for the GTSP.The sequential constructive crossover(SCX)and three other operators are adapted to use in GAs to solve the GTSP.The effectiveness of GA using SCX is verified on some GTSP Library(GTSPLIB)instances first and then compared against GAs using the other crossover methods.The computational results show the success of the GA using SCX for this problem.Our proposed GA using SCX,and swap mutation could find average solutions whose average percentage of excesses fromthe best-known solutions is between 0.00 and 14.07 for our investigated instances. 展开更多

ConGCNet:Convex geometric constructive neural network for Industrial Internet of Things

The intersection of the Industrial Internet of Things(IIoT)and artificial intelligence(AI)has garnered ever-increasing attention and research interest.Nevertheless,the dilemma between the strict resource-constrained nature of IIoT devices and the extensive resource demands of AI has not yet been fully addressed with a comprehensive solution.Taking advantage of the lightweight constructive neural network(LightGCNet)in developing fast learner models for IIoT,a convex geometric constructive neural network with a low-complexity control strategy,namely,ConGCNet,is proposed in this article via convex optimization and matrix theory,which enhances the convergence rate and reduces the computational consumption in comparison with LightGCNet.Firstly,a low-complexity control strategy is proposed to reduce the computational consumption during the hidden parameters training process.Secondly,a novel output weights evaluated method based on convex optimization is proposed to guarantee the convergence rate.Finally,the universal approximation property of ConGCNet is proved by the low-complexity control strategy and convex output weights evaluated method.Simulation results,including four benchmark datasets and the real-world ore grinding process,demonstrate that ConGCNet effectively reduces computational consumption in the modelling process and improves the model’s convergence rate. 展开更多

ChatGPT,launched on November 30,2022,has been adopted by the industries and academia alike.Students have started using ChatGPT for classroom assignments.In the search for the use of this tool for constructive purposes,the professor of a graduate class(MBA)on Supply Chain and Operations Management decided to require students to use ChatGPT to first generate some material for their term papers.Typically,ChatGPT generates one to two pages of original material for the student who is not well trained in using it,which was the case for the students in this class.Then,the students were asked to use the ChatGPT-generated material as a guide to writing a 10-page long paper with new references and citations added.A comparative study is conducted to determine the usefulness of ChatGPT on this project.The preliminary results indicate that students found ChatGPT useful in generating their own papers.Meanwhile,our analysis shows beginners of ChatGPT have limited capacity to generate high-quality content based on ChatGPT.Also,text mining is conducted to compare the readability and information density of ChatGPT-generated content and student-generated content. 展开更多

With the rapid development of globalization and information technology,intellectual property has been one of the key drivers of economic growth,and the construction of intellectual property system has become an important criterion for measuring the quality of business environment.This article is intended to explore the current status of intellectual property system construction in China,the challenges,and its relationship with the business environment,to propose the corresponding countermeasures and suggestions.The study finds that the legal system of intellectual property in China is gradually improving,and judicial and administrative protection are continuously strengthened.However,the challenges still remain such as frequent infringements,rights hard to protect and insufficient international cooperation.These issues not only affect the legitimate rights and interests of innovation entities,but also for the market fairness and the level of the business environment.Therefore,this article proposes that strengthening the perfection of the intellectual property legal system,enhancing intellectual property services and support capabilities,strengthening international cooperation and exchanges,and accelerating the cultivation of composite talents.It aims to provide theoretical references for the construction of intellectual property system and the optimization of the business environment,promote the high-quality development of economy and enhance the global competitiveness of the country. 展开更多

Firedamp and coal dust explosion constitute a lion’s share in mine accidents in a global mining scenario.This paper reports a list of mine explosion disasters since last two decades,a critical review of the different prevention and constructive measures,and its recent development to avoid firedamp and coal dust explosion.Preventive legislation in core coal-producing countries,viz.China,USA,Australia,South Africa,and India related to firedamp and coal dust explosion are critically analysed.Accidents occurred due to explosion after Nationalisation of Coal Mines(1973)in India are listed.Prevention and constructive measures adopted in India are critically analysed with respect to the global mining scenario.Measures like methane credit concept,classification of mines/seams with respect to explosion risk zone,deflagration index;installation of automatic fire warning devices,canopy air curtain technology,explosion-prevention measures,such as fire-retardant materials,inhibitors,extinguishing agent,dust suppressor,and active explosion barrier are discussed in detail to avoid explosion and thereby adhering to zero accident policy due to coal mine explosion. 展开更多

The threshold of covering algorithms is redefined. "Extended area" for test samples is built. The inference of the outlier is eliminated. Furthermore,"Sphere Neighborhood (SN)" are constructed. The membership functions of test samples are given and all of the test samples are determined accordingly. The construction of extraterrestrial bases has become a new goal in the active exploration of deep space.Among the construction techniques,in situ resource-based construction is one of the most promising because of its good sustainability and acceptable economic cost,triggering the development of various types of extraterrestrial construction materials.A comprehensive survey and comparison of materials from the perspective of performance was conducted to provide suggestions for material selection and optimization.Thirteen types of typical construction materials are discussed in terms of their reliability and applicability in extreme extraterrestrial environment.Mechanical,thermal and optical,and radiation-shielding properties are considered.The influencing factors and optimization methods for these properties are analyzed.From the perspective of material properties,the existing challenges lie in the comprehensive,long-term,and real characterization of regolith-based construction materials.Correspondingly,the suggested future directions include the application of high-throughput characterization methods,accelerated durability tests,and conducting extraterrestrial experiments. 展开更多

Constructed wetlands(CwW)are well known nature-based systems for water treatment.This study evaluated the efficiency and effectiveness of seven domestic wastewater treatment systems based on horizontal flow CWs in Jarabacoa,the Dominican Republic.The results showed that the CWs were efficient in reducing the degree of contamination of wastewater to levels below the Dominican wastewater discharge standards for parameters such as the 5-day biochemical oxygen demand(BOD5)and chemical oxygen demand,but not for the removal of phosphorus and fecal coliforms.In addition,a horizontal flow subsurface wetland in the peri-urban area El Dorado was evaluated in terms of the performance of wastewater treatment in tropical climatic conditions.The concentrations of heavy metals,such as zinc,copper,chromium,and iron,were found to decrease in the effluent of the wetland,and the concentrations for nickel and manganese tended to increase.The levels of heavy metals in the effluent were lower than the limit values of the Dominican wastewater discharge standards.The construction cost of these facilities was around 200 USD per population equivalent,similar to the cost in other countries in the same region.This study suggested some solutions to the improved performance of CWs:selection of a microbial flora that guarantees the reduction of nitrates and nitrites to molecular nitrogen,use of endemic plants that bioaccumulate heavy metals,combination of constructed wetlands with filtration on activated carbon,and inclusion of water purification processes that allow to evaluate the reuse of treated water. 展开更多

Food security is a strategic priority for a country’s economic development.In China,high-standard farmland construction(HSFC)is an important initiative to stabilize grain production and increase grain production capacity.Based on panel data from 31 sample provinces,autonomous regions,and municipalities in China from 2005–2017,this study explored the impact of HSFC on grain yield using the difference-in-differences(DID)method.The results showed that HSFC significantly increased total grain production,which is robust to various checks.HSFC increased grain yield through three potential mechanisms.First,it could increase the grain replanting index.Second,it could effectively reduce yield loss due to droughts and floods.Last,HSFC could strengthen the cultivated land by renovating the low-and medium-yielding fields.Heterogeneity analysis found that the HSFC farmland showed a significant increase in grain yield only in the main grain-producing areas and balanced areas.In addition,HSFC significantly increased the yields of rice,wheat,and maize while leading to a reduction in soybean yields.The findings suggest the government should continue to promote HSFC,improve construction standards,and strictly control the“non-agriculturalization”and“non-coordination”of farmland to increase grain production further.At the same time,market mechanisms should be used to incentivize soybean farming,improve returns and stabilize soybean yields. 展开更多

Fast,Exact and Robust Set Operations on Polyhedrons Using Localized Constructive Solid Geometry Trees

Regularized Boolean operations have been widely used in 3D modeling systems. However, evaluating Boolean operations may be quite numerically unstable and time consuming, especially for iterated set operations. A novel and unified technique is proposed in this paper for computing single and iterated set operations efficiently, robustly and exactly. An adaptive octree is combined with a nested constructive solid geometry (CSG) tree by this technique. The intersection handling is restricted to the cells in the octree where intersection actually occurs. Within those cells, a CSG tree template is instanced by the surfaces and the tree is converted to planebased binary space partitioning (BSP) for set evaluation; Moreover, the surface classification is restricted to the ceils in the octree where the surfaces only come from a model and are within the bounding-boxes of other polyhedrons. These two ways bring about the efficiency and scalability of the operations, in terms of runtime and memory. As all surfaces in such a cell have the same classification relation, they are classified as a whole. Robustness and exactness are achieved by integrating plane-based geometry representation with adaptive geometry predicate technique in intersection handling, and by applying divide-and-conquer arithmetic on surface classification. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed approach can guarantee the robustness of Boolean computations and runs faster than other existing approaches. 展开更多
