Objectives Apolipoprotein(Apo) A5 gene poly-morphisms and alcohol consumption have been associated with increased serum triglyceride(TG) levels,but little is known about their interactions on serum lipid levels.The present study was undertaken polymorphismsand alcohol consumption on serum lipid levels.Methods A total of 516 unrelated nondrinkers and 514 drinkers aged 15 -89 were randomly selected from our previous stratified randomized cluster samples.Genotyping of the ApoA5was performed by polymerase chain reaction and restriction fragment length polymorphism,and then confirmed by direct sequencing.Interactions of the ApoA5alcohol consumption were assessed by using a cross-product term between genotypes and the aforementioned factor.Results The levels of total cholesterol (TC),TG,high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C), ApoA1 and ApoB were higher in drinkers than in nondrinkers (P【0.05-0.001).The genotypic and allelic frequencies of the three single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs) were not different between the two groups.The levels of TG in non-drinkers, and TC,TG,low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C)and ApoB in drinkers were different among the three -1131T】C genotypes(P【0.05-0.001).The -1131C allele carriers had higher serum TC,TG,LDL-C and ApoB levels than the allele noncarriers.The levels of TG,HDL-C and ApoB in nondrinkers,and TG and HDL-C in drinkers were different between the two c.553G】T genotypes(P【0.05-0.01).The C.553T allele carriers had higher serum TG and ApoB levels,and lower HDL-C levels than the allele noncarriers.Serum lipid levels in nondrinkers were not different among the three c.457G】A genotypes(P【0.05 for all), but the levels of HDL-C,LDL-C,ApoA1 and ApoB in drinkers were different between the GG and GA/AA geno-types (P【0.05-0.001).The C.457A allele carriers had lower serum HDL-C,LDL-C,ApoAl and ApoB levels than the allele noncarriers.We also observed four haplotypes:G-G-T, G-G-C,G-A-T,and T-G-C with frequencies ranging from 0.06 to 0.87,representing 100%of all haplotypes in the both populations.The ApoA5 haplotypes were significantly(P【0.05) associated at the global level with TC,TG,HDL-C, LDL-C,Apo1,and ApoB,even after correction for multiple testing with permutation test.In particular,carriers of haplo-type G-G-C had significantly higher TC,TG,LDL-C,ApoB than noncarriers,whereas carriers of haplotype C-A-T had significantly lower TC,LDL-C,ApoAl and ApoB,and higher HDL-C than noncarriers.Serum TC levels in nondrinkers were correlated with -1131T】C genotype and allele(P【0.05 for each),whereas serum TC,TG and LDL-C levels in drinkers were associated with -1131 T】C and C.553G】T genotypes,or c.457G】A alleles(P【0.05-0.001).Serum lipid parameters were also correlated with several environmental factors in the both groups.Conclusions The differences in serum lipid profiles between the drinkers and nondrinkers might partly result from different interactions of ApoA5 gene polymor phisms and alcohol consumption.genotypes and -1131T】C, c.553G】T and c.457G】A to detect the interactions of the ApoA5 展开更多

Objectives Both apolipoprotein(Apo)C-Ⅲgene polymorphism and alcohol consumption have been associated with increased serum triglyceride(TG) levels,but their interactions on serum TG levels are not well known.The present study was undertaken to detect the interactions of the ApoC-Ⅲ3238C】G(rs5128) polymorphism and alcohol consumption on serum TG levels.Methods A total of 516 unrelated nondrinkers and 514 drinkers aged 15-89 were randomly selected from our previous stratified randomized cluster samples. Genotyping of the ApoC-Ⅲ3238C】G was performed by polymerase chain reaction and restriction fragment length polymorphism combined with gel electrophoresis,and then confirmed by direct sequencing.Interactions of the ApoC-Ⅲ3238C】G genotype and alcohol consumption was assessed by using a cross-product term between genotypes and the afore-mentioned factor.Results Serum total cholesterol(TC), TG,high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C),ApoA-I and ApoB levels were higher in drinkers than in nondrinkers (P【0.05-0.001).There was no significant difference in the genotypic and allelic frequencies between the two groups. Serum TG levels in nondrinkers were higher in CG genotype than in CC genotype(P【0,01).Serum TC,TG,low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C) and ApoB levels in drinkers were higher in GG genotype than in CC or CG genotype(P【0.01 for all).Serum HDL-C levels in drinkers were higher in CG genotype than in CC genotype(P【0.01).Serum TC, TG,HDL-C and ApoA-I levels in CC genotype,TC,HDL-C, ApoA-I levels and the ratio of ApoA-I to ApoB in CG genotype, and TC,TG,LDL-C,ApoA-I and ApoB levels in GG genotype were higher in drinkers than in nondrinkers(P【0.05-0.01).But the ratio of ApoA-I to ApoB in GG genotype was lower in drinkers than in nondrinkers(P【0.01). Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that the levels of TC,TG and ApoB were correlated with genotype in non drinkers(P【0.05 for all).The levels of TC,LDL-C and ApoB were associated with genotype in drinkers(P【0.01 for all). Serum lipid parameters were also correlated with age,sex,alcohol consumption,cigarette smoking,blood pressure,body weight,and body mass index in both groups.Conclusions This study suggests that the ApoC-Ⅲ3238CG heterozygotes benefited more from alcohol consumption than CC and GG homozygotes in increasing serum levels of HDL-C,ApoA-I, and the ratio of ApoA-I to ApoB,and lowering serum levels of TC and TG. 展开更多

The level and pattern of the fish and seafood consumption in various regions of Russia are found from the analysis of open statistics. Regions with the maximum and minimum consumption of fish products are established. Mercury intake from these products in a human organism is calculated. It is shown that at the current level and pattern of the diet in Russia fish cannot be a source of high mercury concentrations in a human organism. 展开更多

In the frame of the present study, we examined the wheat sector with respect to economic and social sustainability. Accordingly, two research questions were formulated: (1) Is wheat production sustainable in economic terms? and (2) Is wheat production sustainable in social terms? Our view is that the content of sustainability can be defined on a case-by-case basis, and in our case, wheat production provides this content. To answer the research questions, we collected statistical data on the production area, average yield, production volume, selling price, consumption of wheat, and evaluated the tendencies prevalent in the sector. We suppose that in social terms, sustainability means maintaining consumption at least at a constant level, knowing that this sector produces considerable share of the direct and indirect food raw materials. A chief dilemma is that world population is continuously growing, although the size of the cultivated area in the wheat sector has not indicated significant changes over the past few decades. Unless increasing the yields, severe decrease may occur in the per capita production of wheat in the long run. In this case, the current consumption level will not be sustainable in the medium run. In addition, in the long run, it may even have influence on the consumption level of other commodities. 展开更多

Purpose: Exsanguination is the most common leading cause of death in trauma patients. The massive transfusion (MT) protocol may influence therapeutic strategies and help provide blood components in timely manner. The assessment of blood consumption (ABC) score is a popular MT protocol but has low predictability. The lactate level is a good parameter to reflect poor tissue perfusion or shock states that can guide the management. This study aimed to modify the ABC scoring system by adding the lactate level for better prediction of MTo Methods: The data were retrospectively collected from 165 trauma patients following the trauma acti- vated criteria at Songklanagarind Hospital from January 2014 to December 2014. The ABC scoring system was applied in all patients. The patients who had an ABC score 〉2 as the cut point for MT were defined as the ABC group. All patients who had a score 〉2 with a lactate level 〉4 mmol/dL were defined as the ABC plus lactate level (ABC + L) group. The prediction for the requirement of massive blood transfusion was compared between the ABC and ABC + L groups. The ability of ABC and ABC + L groups to predict MT was estimated by the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUROC). Results: Among 165 patients, 15 patients (9%) required massive blood transfusion. There were no sig- nificant differences in age, gender, mechanism of injury or initial vital signs bet^teen the MT group and the non-MT group. The group that required MT had a higher Injury Severity Score and mortality. The sensitivity and specificity of the ABC scoring system in our institution were low (81%, 34%, AUC 0.573). The sensitivity and specificity were significantly better in the ABC + L group (92%, 42%, AUC = 0.745). Conclusion: The ABC scoring system plus lactate increased the sensitivity and specificity compared with the ABC scoring system alone. 展开更多

The modernization of Shanghai has experienced two boosting periods.The first appeared in the 1930s,when it formed the civil society of Shanghai and initially facilitated the trade port into an international metropolis.The second started after the nation’s reform and opening-up,which attempted to promote the city into a global metropolis in the 2010s.In order to evaluate the socio-spatial transitions of communities in Shanghai during the process,Lilong historical neighborhoods in the 1930s and 2010s are successively chosen as research objects.Meanwhile,three specific neighborhoods in each period are selected for case study,so as to depict different symbiosis patterns of the socio-spatial structures under different spatiotemporal conditions by means of a cross-sectional analysis of the consumption level.By pointing out Shanghai in the 1930s was marked with social integration and local-based consumption,while it was inundated with administration tendency and global-oriented consumption in the 2010s,the article believes the dual integration of local-based and global-oriented consumptions is an alternative solution for Shanghai.Finally,the article proposes that Shanghai’s current urban regeneration should rely on the multi-centered symbiotic structure to create a compound network,during which territorial socio-spatial structures and basic living needs of the plebeian can be simultaneously preserved. 展开更多
