However, the change in contact state caused by static friction may decrease positional accuracy and control precision. To investigate the relationship between contact status and contact force in pre-sliding friction, an optical experimental method is presented in this paper. With this method, the real contact state at the interface of a transparent material can be observed based on the total reflection principle of light by using an image processing technique. A novel setup, which includes a pair of rectangular trapezoidal blocks, is proposed to solve the challenging issue of accurately applying different tangential and normal forces to the contact interface. The improved Otsu's method is used for measurement. Through an experimental study performed on polymethyl methacrylate(PMMA), the quantity of contact asperities is proven to be the dominant factor that affects the real contact area. The relationship between the real contact area and the contact force in the pre-sliding regime is studied, and the distribution of static friction at the contact interface is qualitatively discussed. New phenomena in which the real contact area expands along with increasing static friction are identified. The aforementioned relationship is approximately linear at the contact interface under a constant normal pressure, and the distribution of friction stress decreases from the leading edge to the trailing edge.展开更多

However, there are some limitations of the special contact model and stress model used for the theoretical study of the phenomenon, and this has prevented in-depth analysis of the associated friction, wear, and failure. This paper is particularly aimed at investigating the area of rolling contact between a sphere and a cone, for which purpose the boundary is determined by the Hertz theory and the geometries of the non-conforming surfaces. The phenomenon of stick-slip contact is observed to occur in the contact area under the condition of no-full-slip(Q 〈 μ·P). Using the two-dimensional rolling contact theory developed by CARTER, the relative positions of the stick and slip regions and the distribution of the tangential force over the contact area are analyzed. Furthermore, each stress component is calculated based on the Mc Ewen theory and the idea of narrow band. The stress equations for the three-dimensional rolling contact between the sphere and the cone are obtained by the principle of superposition, and are used to perform some numerical simulations. The results show that the stress components have a large gradient along the boundary between the stick and slip regions, and that the maximum stress is inversely proportional to the contact coefficient and proportional to the friction coefficient. A new method for investigating the stress during non-classical three-dimensional rolling contact is proposed as a theoretical foundation for the analysis of the associated friction, wear, and failure.展开更多

The solid conductive particles are made of pure Ni and Cu. The results indicate that the deformation of the conductive particles is inhomogeneous during fabrication. When the reduction in height is small the deformation concentrates in the area near the contact area. As the reduction in height increases, the strain in the area near the contact area increases, and the metal flows toward the circumference, resulting in the increase of the contact area between the conductive particles and pad. The higher the degree of deformation, the larger the contact area. The regression equations were offered to express the relations between the bounding force and the contact area or the reduction in height. An approach of how to obtain the maximum contact area in ACA was discussed.展开更多

The real contact area model taking account of the effect of friction and deformation of material was obtained. The model of contact conductance at the rolling interface was obtained by integrating the specific feature of heat transfer through the interface of continuous roll-casting. The results indicate that the real contact area increases obviously when the material is under yield, and the real contact area varies inversely with surface roughness, whereas it varies exponentially with friction coefficient, strain rate and pressure, and the power factor depends on strain rate.展开更多

The inhibitors of uPA have been shown to prevent the spread of metastasis and tumor growth, and accordingly uPA is widely recognized as a target for the treatment of cancer. In this work, we report the crystal structures of the complexes of uPA with its inhibitors: 4- (aminomethyl)-benzoic acid (AMBA) and 4-(aminomethyl-phenyl)-methanol (AMPM), both at a resolution of 2.35 А. The inhibitory constants of these two inhibitors were measured by a chromogenic competitive assay, and it was found that AMBA is a better inhibitor for uPA (Ki = 2.68 mM) than AMPM (Ki = 13.99 mM). The structural study shows that the binding mode of inhibitor AMBA on uPA is similar to that of AMPM on uPA, both docked into the active site S1 pocket of uPA. Structural details of these complexes are provided to explain the difference of inhibitory constants.展开更多

The disadvantage of current face-gear grinding method that only part of the working surface of the face-gear can be covered is analyzed and the influence of coefficient of judgment is studied through changing the design parameters.

文摘A theoretical model for mixed lubrication with more accurate contact length has been developed based on the average volume flow model and asperity flattening model, and the lubricant volume flow rate and outlet speed ratio are determined by integrating differential equations based on rolling parameters. The lubrication characteristics at the roll-strip interface with different surface roughness, rolling speed, reduction and lubricant viscosity are analyzed respectively.Additionally, the average volume flow rates of lubricant under different rolling conditions are calculated and used to explain the change rule of lubrication characteristics. The developed scheme is able to determine the total pressure, lubricant pressure, film thickness and real contact area at any point within the work zone. The prediction and analysis of mixed lubrication characteristics at the interface is meaningful to better control the surface quality and optimize the rolling process.

文摘To study the efect of micro-texture on the cutting performance of polyrystalline cubic boron nitide(PCBN)tools, five types of micro-textures(circular pits, eliptical grooves, transverse grooves, composite grooves, and wavy grooves)were applied to the rake surface of PCBN tools by an optical fber laser marking machine.Through a combination of three dimensional cutting simulations and experiments, the influences of micro-texture on chip-tool contact area, cutting force, chip morphology, shear angle, and surface roughness during the cuting process were analyzed. The results indicated that the chip--tool contact area and cutting force of both non-textured and micro textured tools increased with increasing cutting speed, while the shear angle decreased with increasing cutting speed. The chip-tool contact area and cutting force of the five types of micro-textured tools were smaller than those of the non textured tool The chip-tool contact area and cutting force obtained by the wavy-groove micro textured tool were the smallest. The chip radius produced by the five types of micro-textured tools was smaller than that produced by the non-textured tool, and the chip morphology was more stable. The transverse-groove micro-textured tool had a better chip breaking efect. The chip rnadius generated by the lliptical groove micro textured tool was 0.96 cm,while that generated by the wavy-groove tool varied from 0.55 cm to 1.26 cm.The presence of a micro-texture reduced the surface roughness of the workpiece by 11.73%-56.7%.Under the same cutting conditions, the five types of micro-textured tools gave a smaller chip--tool contact area, cutting force, chip radius, and surface roughness and a larger shear angle than the non-textured tool.In addition, the elliptical groove and wavy-groove micro-textured tools had better cuting performance.
文摘The deformation behavior and the contact area of conductive particles in anisotropically conductive adhesives (ACA) were investigated by finite element method (FEM). An approach of how to obtain the maximum contact area in ACA was discussed.

文摘The effects of surface roughness, strain rate, friction coefficient and pressure on real contact area were analyzed based on the research of Stupkiewicz. The real contact area model taking account of the effect of friction and deformation of material was obtained. The model of contact conductance at the rolling interface was obtained by integrating the specific feature of heat transfer through the interface of continuous roll-casting. The results indicate that the real contact area increases obviously when the material is under yield, and the real contact area varies inversely with surface roughness, whereas it varies exponentially with friction coefficient, strain rate and pressure, and the power factor depends on strain rate.

文摘A consecutive joint shear strength model for soft rock joints is proposed in this paper, which takes into account the degradation law of the actual contact three-dimensional(3D)roughness.The essence of the degradation of the maximum possible dilation angle is the degradation of the 3D average equivalent dip angle of the actual contact joint asperities.Firstly, models for calculating the maximum possible dilation angle at the initial and residual shear stress stages are proposed by analyzing the 3D joint morphology characteristics of the corresponding shear stages.Secondly, the variation law of the maximum possible dilation angle is quantified by studying the degradation law of the joint micro convex body.Based on the variation law of the maximum possible dilation angle, the maximum possible shear strength model is proposed.Furthermore,a method to calculate the shear stiffness degradation in the plastic stage is proposed.According to the maximum possible shear strength of rock joints, the shear stress-shear displacement prediction model of rock joints is obtained. The new model reveals that there is a close relationship between joint shear strength and actual contact joint roughness, and the degradation of shear strength after the peak is due to the degradation of actual contact joint roughness.
文摘The friction interface matching plays a deterministic role in the motor efficiency, and the microcosmic contact status of friction interface should be investigated to improve the ultrasonic motor performance. The main purpose is to improve the effective output power of ultrasonic motor.Hence, one studies the contact condition of the friction interface of the ultrasonic motor, analyzes the micro condition of contact interface through finite element analysis, optimizes unreasonable structures, and compares the two different-structure ultrasonic motors through experiments. The results reflect the necessity of optimization. After optimization, the stator and rotor deform after pre-pressure and the contact interface of them full contact theoretically. When reaching heat balance the effective output of the motor is 37%,and the average effective output efficiency is 2.384 times higher than that of the unoptimized. It can be seen that the total consumption of the ultrasonic motor system decreases significantly. Therefore, when using in certain system the consumption taken from the system will decreases largely, especially in the system with a strict consumption control.

文摘The spatial and temporal evolution of real contact area of contact interface with loads is a challenge. It is generally believed that there is a positive linear correlation between real contact area and normal load. However, with the development of measuring instruments and methods, some scholars have found that the growth rate of real contact area will slow down with the increase of normal load under certain conditions, such as large-scale interface contact with small roughness surface, which is called the nonlinear phenomenon of real contact area.At present, there is no unified conclusion on the explanation of this phenomenon. We set up an experimental apparatus based on the total reflection principle to verify this phenomenon and analyze its mechanism. An image processing method is proposed, which can be used to quantitative analysis micro contact behaviors on macro contact phenomenon. The weighted superposition method is used to identify micro contact spots,to calculate the real contact area, and the color superimposed image is used to identify micro contact behaviors.Based on this method, the spatiotemporal evolution mechanism of real contact area nonlinear phenomena is quantitatively analyzed.Furthermore, the influence of nonlinear phenomenon of real contact area on the whole loading and unloading process is analyzed experimentally. It is found that the effects of fluid between contact interface, normal load amplitude and initial contact state on contact behavior cannot be ignored in large-scale interface contact with small roughness surface.
文摘Each rock joint is unique by nature which means that utilization of replicas in direct shear tests is required in experimental parameter studies. However,a method to acquire knowledge about the ability of the replicas to imitate the shear mechanical behavior of the rock joint and their dispersion in direct shear testing is lacking. In this study,a novel method is presented for geometric quality assurance of replicas. The aim is to facilitate generation of high-quality direct shear testing data as a prerequisite for reliable subsequent analyses of the results. In Part 1 of this study, two quality assurance parameters, smf and V_(Hp100),are derived and their usefulness for evaluation of geometric deviations,i.e.geometric reproducibility,is shown. In Part 2,the parameters are validated by showing a correlation between the parameters and the shear mechanical behavior, which qualifies the parameters for usage in the quality assurance method.Unique results from direct shear tests presenting comparisons between replicas and the rock joint show that replicas fulfilling proposed threshold values of σ_(mf)<0.06 mm and|V_(Hp100)|<0.2 mm have a narrow dispersion and imitate the shear mechanical behavior of the rock joint in all aspects apart from having a slightly lower peak shear strength. The wear in these replicas, which have similar morphology as the rock joint,is in the same areas as in the rock joint. The wear is slightly larger in the rock joint and therefore the discrepancy in peak shear strength derives from differences in material properties, possibly from differences in toughness. It is shown by application of the suggested method that the quality assured replicas manufactured following the process employed in this study phenomenologically capture the shear strength characteristics, which makes them useful in parameter studies.

文摘Urokinase-type plasminogen activator (uPA) is a trypsin-like serine protease and plays a key role in several biological processes, including tissue remodeling, cell migration, and matrix degradation. Structural details of these complexes are provided to explain the difference of inhibitory constants.
