A vivid debate on CCC (Contemporary Chinese Calligraphy) (Zhongguo xiandai shufa) is involving art critics in China nowadays. WANG Dongling and the modernists think that, despite many changes and influences, we can still refer to the traditional calligraphic lexicon to describe the calligraphic production of contemporary Chinese art. They still remain deeply rooted in the signified system of Chinese writing, even if they break with the strict rules of Chinese classical aesthetic (contamination of Western elements and focus on the stylistic exploration). WANG Nanming and the Avant-garde think that "contemporary calligraphy is not calligraphy yet": It is "anti-calligraphy", annihilates Chinese tradition, rejects the use of legible characters, experiments with new languages and new media within the idiom of international contemporary art. The result is the creation of works of art that could be assimilated to Abstract art, Abstract expressionism, Conceptual art, Performance art, Contemporary dance, Multimedia art, and even Street art. This paper aims at showing how still valid and extremely productive are both these two theoretical and creative/practical approaches to Chinese calligraphy in China nowadays. They turned the art of calligraphy into a medium for global comprehension and communication.展开更多

Over the past decade, Pawel Korchagin has regained his popularity in Chinese media, his name and image have been appropriated by numerous artists and filmmakers to help in portrayals of the new generation's self-fashioning. The various (unorthodox) interpretations recently attached to Pawel's heroic story reveal a huge gap between Maoist ideology and the post-Mao ideas. This paper looks into the intricate relationships between Pawel Korchagin's revolutionary past and his varied contemporary representations. By doing so, I hope to gain a better understanding of the cultural politics of appropriating Mao's legacy to create new meanings for a changing Chinese society One example on which this paper focuses is the sixth-generation director Lu Xuechang's film Becoming a Man (1997), which rewrites the revolutionary Bildungsroman of Pawel in a startling different context.展开更多

The paper focuses on the theoretical construction of "estrangement," an important concept in the fields of psychoanalysis, socialist feminism and French feminism. My discussion of "estrangement" centers on the way in which the femininity of intellectual women is constructed, in particular, the degree to which they are depicted as adhering to or becoming estranged from the norms for feminine behavior. The goal of this research was to create a series of original paintings by investigating Chinese traditional folk arts and handcrafts and integrating them physically or ichnographically on Ho's new body of paintings. Chinese traditional motifs including Chinese characters and Buddhist iconographies had already been important motifs in the contemporary Western paintings of Kong Ho for the past 10 years. This paper examined not only the artistic, cultural, and historical values but also the impacts of Chinese traditional folk arts and era~ on Ho's painting through a personal research travel and studies of a certain amount of Chinese paper-cuttings, folk prints, pottery, and handcrafts found in the famous Foshan Folk Art Studio and Foshan City Shiwan Ceramics Factory in Foshan, China. Wang Meng's In Remembrance of the Soviet Union (2007) and Feng Jicai's Listening to Russia (2005) are characterized by nostalgia for the lost Soviet Union, which exerted a strong influence on the PRC during the 1950s. In contemporary China, where the market economy is the dominant mode of production, Wang and Feng's Soviet nostalgia is a gesture of yearning for a type of historical temporality that has seemingly been lost. Their works express the desire to reclaim the historical past of the 1950s, which they portray as having been completely erased by the developmental logic of late-capitalism--the authentic cultural experiences in the 1950s, especially the everyday life along with the revolutionary ideals are rendered unreal within the post-revolutionary logic. The concept of Soviet "ji" (祭 "remembrance") provides a theoretical framework through which to understand the way in which the phenomenon of Chinese nostalgia has the potential to shift contemporary social reality.展开更多

文摘Background:There is scarce research on large cohorts with tetralogy of Fallot(TOF)from China. The database in Fuwai Hospital was reviewed to ascertain current trends in the management of TOF and to determine the prevalence of various surgical techniques and the optimal early outcome. Methods:This cross-sectional study included 1861 patients who underwent surgery between 2012 and 2017 and were aged 0-18 years old with a primary diagnosis of TOF.A total of 1760 eligible patients were included in the analyses. Results:A total of 1683 patients underwent repair of TOF as a one-stage operation(primary repair).Sixty-one patients underwent repair of TOF after prior palliation.Of patients who underwent one-stage repair(n=1683):858 were 6 months to 1 year old,421 were 1 to 2 years old,251 were 2-18 years old,and 145 were 3 to 6 months old.Of patients who underwent repair following prior palliation(n=61),58(95.1%)were older than 1 year of age.Of 1744 complete repairs,986(56.0%)had annulus-sparing(AS)repair.Total in-hospital mortality was 15 of 1744(0.9%)for complete repair(including one-stage and staged repairs). The total incidence of the optimal early outcome was 78.2%in terms of a composite of the absence of death in the first year, significant right ventricular outflow tract obstruction, significant pulmonary valve insufficiency,or catheter or surgical reintervention. Conclusions:Surgical correction in patients with TOF can achieve an acceptable outcome in terms of death and reintervention.Primary repair at 6 months to 1 year of age is the most prevalent strategy in our centre. However, the relatively high incidence of early undesirable surgical adequacy of the pulmonary valve(PV)represents a wake-up call.
文摘In recent years, Practice Ontology Aesthetics takes shape in academic discussion and argument. The introduction of Practice Ontology Aesthetics occurred in the course of introspection of Practice Aesthetics in modem China, in which the existence dimension in Marxist concept of practice was of great significance to breaking the theoretical limitation of present Practice Aesthetics. Therefore, in terms of the distinctive context of Chinese contemporary aesthetics, the introduction of Practice Ontology Aesthetics from the theoretical perspective of Marxist existentialism offers a possible way to break the current aesthetics and represents a multiple academic pursuit of Marxist, Chinese and modem aesthetics.
