The paper will focus on communication through the figures of discourse. The problem of the entanglement of the visual and the semantic is discussed extensively by lean-Francois Lyotard, in his notable Discourse, Figure, in relation to the perception and representation of space and the role and form of the sign. According to this philosopher, the figure dominates the communication process by deconstructing the text. Both the topography of the figure and art is the result of repression processes and the subsequent discharge of libidinal energy. Art in particular is a formalism of the death drive, according to Lyotard. The figure of "the mobled queen", the expression of a possible slip of the tongue in Hamlet, becomes a symbol of the distorted relationship of the visual, the semantic, the ethical, and the critical role of this in art and communication. In addition to Lyotard's model, the possible figures of globalization will be discussed in relation to Peter Sloterdik's Globes. Spheres II. 展开更多

If new developments in Chinese philosophy in contemporary China mean displaying the contemporariness of Chinese philosophy, then we need to understand what this term means. Contemporariness is not a purely historical concept but one from historical philosophy. It differs from both modernity and postmodernity, occurring and being present simultaneously with our immediate existing. Since contemporary Chinese philosophy represents the unfolding of Chinese philosophy in its contemporariness, this means that contemporary Chinese philosophy occurs in the circumstances of ottr immediate existing and is moreover present simultaneously with contemporary Western and Marxist philosophy. This provides the common ground that makes dialogue between them possible. 展开更多

Efforts are needed in ,the following three aspects in configuring contemporary Chinese philosophy: providing various value goals for various social groups; re-constructing the value objective for the Chinese; and providing new human nature foundation for contemporary Chinese ethical conduct and legal system. Chinese, Western and Marxist philosophies must break disciplinary segmentation and take the reality of Chinese society and its trends of development as their common platform of thinking. By using their respective intellectual resources, they should endeavor to build up a social philosophy thatmay satisfy the needs of Chinese people and China's development, and is able to provide guides to their life and practice. 展开更多

The critique of a premise and reflection on a question represent two different philosophical positions, and at the same time constitute two distinct routes by which contemporary philosophy has appeared on the scene. The critique of a premise, a discourse exercise aimed at the reconstruction of forms, is premised on a position of morphology. It obfuscates the real foundation of philosophy: all authentic philosophy originates from questions, and only the process of critical reflection on questions can provide an authentic context allowing philosophy's joumey into the depths. While philosophical discourse systems have always been distinguished by morphological construction, they have nontheless remained attempts at providing philosophical answers to questions posed by practice. Questions, as opposed to morphology, cannot but take precedence and be of a more fundamental nature. The theory of question-oriented reflection, as put forward by the Marxist revolution in philosophy, refers to the basic positions of the "theory of practice" and the "theory of the question." It stongly holds that philosophy in essence is about the logic of questions and answers and its real point is "to change the world;" sound premises for philosophical forms can be arrived at only through critical rethinking of the philosophy arising from questions and the questions posed by philosophy, and only on such premises can philosophical forms be properly constructed. 展开更多

"Learning to be Human" is the theme of the 24^th World Congress of Philosophy, to be held in Beijing in 2018, and also an important topic in traditional Chinese Confucian philosophy. Different interpretations of this theme, however, directly determine how to understand the study of Chinese philosophy in the context of world philosophy today. Changes in contemporary philosophy urge us to reconsider philosophical research in today's China. Reflecting on the status quo of research on Chinese philosophy and finding a method for solving certain existing difficulties will ultimately enhance the study of Chinese philosophy. 展开更多

Innovation of contemporary Chinese philosophy should be conducted in the light of the spirit of the times that should be embodied in a new philosophy and the necessary academic character determined by the spirit of the times. It means the construction of a new philosophy that returns to primitive philosophy in terms of research scope, follows the example of Marxist philosophy in terms of research approach, and inherits and develops previous Chinese and Western philosophy in terms of research content. This new philosophy centered on the spirit of harmony is termed "post-modern Marxist philosophy." 展开更多
