In recent years,skeleton-based action recognition has made great achievements in Computer Vision.A graph convolutional network(GCN)is effective for action recognition,modelling the human skeleton as a spatio-temporal ...In recent years,skeleton-based action recognition has made great achievements in Computer Vision.A graph convolutional network(GCN)is effective for action recognition,modelling the human skeleton as a spatio-temporal graph.Most GCNs define the graph topology by physical relations of the human joints.However,this predefined graph ignores the spatial relationship between non-adjacent joint pairs in special actions and the behavior dependence between joint pairs,resulting in a low recognition rate for specific actions with implicit correlation between joint pairs.In addition,existing methods ignore the trend correlation between adjacent frames within an action and context clues,leading to erroneous action recognition with similar poses.Therefore,this study proposes a learnable GCN based on behavior dependence,which considers implicit joint correlation by constructing a dynamic learnable graph with extraction of specific behavior dependence of joint pairs.By using the weight relationship between the joint pairs,an adaptive model is constructed.It also designs a self-attention module to obtain their inter-frame topological relationship for exploring the context of actions.Combining the shared topology and the multi-head self-attention map,the module obtains the context-based clue topology to update the dynamic graph convolution,achieving accurate recognition of different actions with similar poses.Detailed experiments on public datasets demonstrate that the proposed method achieves better results and realizes higher quality representation of actions under various evaluation protocols compared to state-of-the-art methods.展开更多

According to the quantitative analysis o...This study intends to explore the effects of context clues in contextual guessing among 60 first-year non-English majors by using two guessing tests as the research instrument. According to the quantitative analysis of the statistics processed by SPSS （14.0）, it is revealed that （1） context clues affect the outcome of contextual guessing significantly, and （2） English proficiency level plays a significant role in contextual guessing as well. On the basis of the major findings in this research, several pedagogical implications are drawn for college English teachers and students： （1） College English teachers should keep the students better informed of the significance and specific functions of context clues in contextual guessing; （2） College English teachers should encourage the students to guess word meanings from context instead of inhibiting it when there are adequate context clues offered.展开更多

Currently,a growing number of educators are aware of the need to look for new approaches to replace the"spoon-feeding"method.Therefore,the context-based strategy began to emerge.This study aims to investigat...Currently,a growing number of educators are aware of the need to look for new approaches to replace the"spoon-feeding"method.Therefore,the context-based strategy began to emerge.This study aims to investigate how students derive information through contextual clues by examining the progress of Chinese middle school EFL students in terms of word recognition.The participants of this study included 20 eighth grade students from the same middle school.The participants sat for two different quizzes:a contextual vocabulary quiz(quiz A)and a direct instruction quiz(quiz B).In quiz A,the participants inferred the meaning of the target words from the example sentences,whereas in quiz B,the students utilized the accompanying English explanation to guess other new words.These students were in the experimental and control conditions,respectively.The two quizzes comprised of 15 multiple choice questions(MCQ)which differentiated the participants?word recognition response to two different learning methods.There were two significant findings from this study.First,the results showed that the context-based strategy leads to a better vocabulary learning performance compared to the direct instruction strategy.Second,although it is not as effective as the context-based strategy,the direct instruction strategy may assist EFL learners in remembering words in short term.展开更多
