Heritage Communities in Consumer Contexts Spatial Production of Tourism Research-Take Qixian Zhao Yu Historical City as an Example

Taking Zhaoyu Historical City in Qixian County as an example,this paper explores the production process of tourism space in Zhaoyu Historical City in the context of consumption,based on Lefebvre's triadic dialectic theory.The study reveals that,driven by the development of tourism,subjects such as the government and planners possess absolute dominance over spatial representations,while residents demonstrate receptive and adaptive action strategies and social relations are reproduced,presenting a harmonious state.Further exploring the tourism community in the environmental performance of the subject of action,social relations,consumption demand,daily life practice,cultural capital,etc.,the daily life practice of the tourism community has transcended the original logic of tourism spatial production and has a certain extension.The mechanism analysis in this paper can help guide the healthy development of tourism space in the neighboring historical cities or communities and achieve the dual purpose of promoting the economic development of the community and heritage protection.

Fusing Spatio-Temporal Contexts into DeepFM for Taxi Pick-Up Area Recommendation

Short-term GPS data based taxi pick-up area recommendation can improve the efficiency and reduce the overheads.But how to alleviate sparsity and further enhance accuracy is still challenging.Addressing at these issues,we propose to fuse spatio-temporal contexts into deep factorization machine(STC_DeepFM)offline for pick-up area recommendation,and within the area to recommend pick-up points online using factorization machine(FM).Firstly,we divide the urban area into several grids with equal size.Spatio-temporal contexts are destilled from pick-up points or points-of-interest(POIs)belonged to the preceding grids.Secondly,the contexts are integrated into deep factorization machine(DeepFM)to mine high-order interaction relationships from grids.And a novel algorithm named STC_DeepFM is presented for offline pick-up area recommendation.Thirdly,we devise the architecture of offline-to-online(O2O)recommendation respectively based on DeepFM and FM model in order to tradeoff the accuracy and efficiency.Some experiments are designed on the DiDi dataset to evaluate step by step the performance of spatio-temporal contexts,different recommendation models,and the O2O architecture.The results show that the proposed STC_DeepFM algorithm exceeds several state-of-the-art methods,and the O2O architecture achieves excellent real-time performance.

Content Characteristics of Knowledge Integration in the eHealth Field:An Analysis Based on Citation Contexts

Purpose:This study attempts to disclose the characteristics of knowledge integration in an interdisciplinary field by looking into the content aspect of knowledge.Design/methodology/approach:The eHealth field was chosen in the case study.Associated knowledge phrases(AKPs)that are shared between citing papers and their references were extracted from the citation contexts of the eHealth papers by applying a stem-matching method.A classification schema that considers the functions of knowledge in the domain was proposed to categorize the identified AKPs.The source disciplines of each knowledge type were analyzed.Quantitative indicators and a co-occurrence analysis were applied to disclose the integration patterns of different knowledge types.Findings:The annotated AKPs evidence the major disciplines supplying each type of knowledge.Different knowledge types have remarkably different integration patterns in terms of knowledge amount,the breadth of source disciplines,and the integration time lag.We also find several frequent co-occurrence patterns of different knowledge types.Research limitations:The collected articles of the field are limited to the two leading open access journals.The stem-matching method to extract AKPs could not identify those phrases with the same meaning but expressed in words with different stems.The type of Research Subject dominates the recognized AKPs,which calls on an improvement of the classification schema for better knowledge integration analysis on knowledge units.Practical implications:The methodology proposed in this paper sheds new light on knowledge integration characteristics of an interdisciplinary field from the content perspective.The findings have practical implications on the future development of research strategies in eHealth and the policies about interdisciplinary research.Originality/value:This study proposed a new methodology to explore the content characteristics of knowledge integration in an interdisciplinary field.

Using shape contexts method for registration of contra lateral breasts in thermal images

AIM: To achieve symmetric boundaries for left and right breasts boundaries in thermal images by registration. METHODS: The proposed method for registration consists of two steps. In the first step, shape context, an approach as presented by Belongie and Malik was applied for registration of two breast boundaries. The shape context is an approach to measure shape similarity. Two sets of finite sample points from shape contours of two breasts are then presented. Consequently, the correspondences between the two shapes are found. By finding correspondences, the sample point which has the most similar shape context is obtained. RESULTS: In this study, a line up transformation which maps one shape onto the other has been estimated in order to complete shape. The used of a thin plate spline permitted good estimation of a plane transformation which has capability to map unselective points from one shape onto the other. The obtained aligningtransformation of boundaries points has been applied successfully to map the two breasts interior points. Some of advantages for using shape context method in this work are as follows:(1) no special land marks or key points are needed;(2) it is tolerant to all common shape deformation; and(3) although it is uncomplicated and straightforward to use, it gives remarkably powerful descriptor for point sets significantly upgrading point set registration. Results are very promising. The proposed algorithm was implemented for 32 cases. Boundary registration is done perfectly for 28 cases.CONCLUSION: We used shape contexts method that is simple and easy to implement to achieve symmetric boundaries for left and right breasts boundaries in thermal images.

Bibliometry-Aware and Domain-Specific Features for Discovering Publication Hierarchically-Ordered Contexts and Scholarly-Communication Structures

Discovering publication hierarchically-ordered contexts is the main task in context-based searching paradigm. The proposed techniques to discover publication contexts relies on the availability of domain-specific inputs, namely a pre-specified ontology terms. A problem with this technique is that the needed domain-specific inputs may not be available in some scientific disciplines. In this paper, we propose utilizing a powerful input that is naturally available in any scientific discipline to discover the hierarchically-ordered contexts of it, namely paper citation and co-authorship graphs. More specifically, we propose a set of domain-specific bibliometry-aware features that are automatically computable instead of domain-specific inputs that need experts’ efforts to prepare. Another benefit behind considering bibliometric-features to adapt to the special characteristics of the literature environment being targeted, which in turn facilitates contexts membership decision making. One key advantage of our proposal is that it considers temporal changes of the targeted publication set.

Inventing the Barbarians:The Changing Contexts of Yi in the Late Qing Dynasty

This study analyzes how the meaning of yi(夷,barbarian)was constructed in different historical contexts at the end of the Qing dynasty,which is important for us to reconsider xenophobia and Sino-centrism both in the past and present.Our study combines contextual with intertextual reading methods.It places different materials,including missionaries’works,newspapers,and official documents,in their specific historical contexts and links them to obtain a full picture of this transformation.We argue that yi was invented.Various agents and actors created the connotation of yi to suit their interests.It was transformed by the Qing court from“barbarians”to those who follow Confucianism to justify their rule.Then it was first translated as“foreigners”and later as“barbarians”when Europeans came to China.Our study situates the meaning of yi to help us rethink some of the labels and misconceptions attached to yi and the early missionaries in China.

Learning long-term temporal contexts using skip RNN for continuous emotion recognition

Background Continuous emotion recognition as a function of time assigns emotional values to every frame in a sequence.Incorporating long-term temporal context information is essential for continuous emotion recognition tasks.Methods For this purpose,we employ a window of feature frames in place of a single frame as inputs to strengthen the temporal modeling at the feature level.The ideas of frame skipping and temporal pooling are utilized to alleviate the resulting redundancy.At the model level,we leverage the skip recurrent neural network to model the long-term temporal variability by skipping trivial information for continuous emotion recognition.Results The experimental results using the AVEC 2017 database demonstrate that our proposed methods are beneficial to a performance improvement.Further,the skip long short-term memory(LSTM)model can focus on the critical emotional state when training the models,thereby achieving a better performance than the LSTM model and other methods.

Neighbourhood systems based attribute reduction in formal decision contexts

Attribute reduction of formal decision context mainly uses the relationship between two concept lattices generated by the condition and decision attributes to remove redundant condition attributes.By using decision attributes to observe the covering of objects,this study defines two types of consistent sets and reducts in a consistent formal decision context based on neighbourhood systems.Four types of reductions in inconsistent formal decision contexts are also studied.The methods to calculate all types of reductions are formulated by discernibility matrix.Finally,an approach to obtain the decision rules in consistent formal decision context is proposed.

An Exploration of the Teaching and Learning Contexts that Task-based Language Teaching is best Suited to

This essay aims at exploring the most suitable teaching and learning contexts of TBLT(task-based language teaching).At the same time, it tries to show the strengths and limitations of this method by comparing different teaching and learning contexts. To be precise, this essay attempts to discuss from three aspects: learners' levels, students' motivation and the combination of TBLT and ICT(information and communication technology). From the analysis, this essay suggests that learners of TBLT should at least have intermediate language proficiency. In addition, there is a need to further investigate the appropriate means to motivate students in task practice. Ultimately, it is also necessary to further develop and improve ICT to the requirements of TBLT.

The Effect of Regional Socio-Economic Factor on Development of Heterogeneous Urban Contexts;Case Study: Bandar Abbas City

Heterogeneous urban development of Iran during current decades along with ineffectiveness of urban planning system and shortcoming of national development programs and land use planning have led to many problems of urbanism in Iran so that heterogeneous and old contexts can be named as one of the problems in this field. Urban decay is one of the serious and inevitable problems of urban management in all countries. This study has been conducted to analyze and assess the effect of regional factors on development of problematic urban contexts emphasizing on socio- economic indicators in Bandar Abbas City. Having urban macro-indicators at regional and country level, Bandar Abbas City faces various physical problems which problematic and old contexts are the most important of them that cover an area of 1033 hectares. Economic issues and heterogeneity within social contexts have expanded the mentioned problem in addition to physical problems. Methodology of this study has been analytical-descriptive, data collection method of documentary information has been gathered from relevant administrative organization such as Statistical Center of Iran, the Municipality and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, and survey data has been collected through 90 questionnaires. According to the obtained results of this study, it could be found that social, economic, political and managerial factors have had effects on formation of heterogeneous contexts and extensive migration during the current years has expanded problematic contexts of Bandar Abbas due to its specific regional conditions. Moreover, the obtained results of this study indicated that heterogeneous contexts had some features including fine-grained, inadequate access network, impervious, inferior materials and poor construction of buildings and lack of necessary infrastructure.

Intercultural Trust in Global Contexts:Synthesizing a Western Nomological Approach with a Chinese Systems Approach

Intercultural trust in global contexts plays a central role in helping people from different cultures to communicate comfortably,which is essential for cooperation.Attempting to construct a framework that might foster international cooperation,and thus be helpful for coping with global emergencies,we relate a Western nomological approach to an Eastern systems approach to analyse intercultural trust in global contexts.Considering cultural impacts on intercultural trust and the nomological framework of cultural differences,we propose an intercultural trust model to interpret how cultural differences influence trust.A qualitative study of Chinese-Irish interactions was conducted to interpret this model.We organized 10 seminars on intercultural trust,and interviewed 16 people to further explore the respondents'deeper feelings and experiences about intercultural trust in global contexts.Through this study,we have identified factors impacting on intercultural trust,and found that intercultural trust can be developed and improved in various ways.To llustrate these ways,we have provided tactics and methods for building intercultural trust in global contexts.Implications are highlighted for organizations to avoid cultural clashes and relevant political or economic risks.
