The performance of a rotating packed bed (RPter solutioB) with three kinds of packings was investigated using alcohol/wan under continuous distillation conditions at atmospheric pressure. The effects of average high gravity factor (β), reflux ratio (R), and feedstock flux (F) on mass-transfer in distillation were examined separately. Experimental results indicated that the total number of theoretical units (NTU) of RPB increased with β, R, and F.Of the three kinds of packings, the wave thread packing of stainless steel (Packing-Ⅲ)-had the best mass transfer efficiency with the height equivalent of a theoretical plate (HETP) of approximately 7.35 mm- 23.58 ram, whereas the corrugated disk pacing of stainless steel,(Packing Ⅰ) had the worst one with the HETP of about 13.4 mm-48.07 mm.Correlations were cleveloped to describe the mass transfer efficiency for packings Comparing.experimental data with the data calculated by correlation, the average deviate obtained for each packing was 0.72%, 1.98%, and 2.7%, respectively, implying that the accuracy of correlations developed was reasonable. 展开更多

Continuous homogenous azeotropic distillation(CHAD) and pressure-swing distillation(PSD) are explored to separate a minimum-boiling azeotropic system of ethyl acetate and n-hexane. The CHAD process with acetone as the entrainer and the PSD process with the pressures of 0.1 MPa and 0.6 MPa in two columns are designed and simulated by Aspen Plus. The operating conditions of the two processes are optimized via a sequential modular approach to obtain the minimum total annual cost(TAC). The computational results show that the partially heat integrated pressure-swing distillation(HIPSD) has reduced in the energy cost and TAC by 40.79% and 35.94%, respectively, than the conventional PSD, and has more greatly reduced the energy cost and TAC by 62.61% and 49.26% respectively compared with the CHAD process. The comparison of CHAD process and partially HIPSD process illustrates that the partially HIPSD has more advantages in averting the product pollution, energy saving, and economy. 展开更多

The hydrochloric acid recovery from rare earth chloride solutions by continuous vacuum membrane distillation was first experimentally studied, then material balance of the process was calculated, and the equations which mathematically stimulate the process were lastly achieved. The results indicate a given RE concentration in circular solutions means its constant HCl concentration during the continuous VMD process, furthermore, increasing RE concentration in feed solutions increases the processing capacity per membrane of the experimental set-up. When keeping constant RE concentration in feed solutions, increasing RE concentration in circular solutions decreases its HCl concentration, and HCl recovery ratio increases accordingly, however, processing capacity per membrane of the experimental set-up decreases at the same time. The mathematical results are in accordance with experimental results. 展开更多

A novel treatment process of lead anode slime bearing high antimony and low silver was developed by a potential-controlled chloridization leaching and continuous distillation. The experimental results show a high Sb 3+ concentration,489.2 g/L,in the leaching solution for two-stage countercurrent leaching process, and the leaching rates of Sb,Cu,Bi more than 99% when the potential is controlled at 450 mV.When the leaching solution is distillated and concentrated at 120°C,almost all the silicon compound is evaporated into the concentration distillate and exists as amorphous hydrated silica.By the continuous distillation, high pure SbCl3 could be prepared, and AsCl3 is enriched in the distillate while metals Bi,Cu are enriched in the continuous distillation residue. As a result, the recovery rate of Sb is more than 95%. 展开更多
