Flow Structure and Short-Term Riverbed Evolution in Curved Flumes

River bending is the major effect responsible for bed topography and bank changes.In this study,fluid velocity(measured by a three-dimensional Doppler advanced point current meter)and bed topographical data have been collected in 40 sections of an experimental model.The whole flume was composed of an organic glass bend,upstream and downstream water tanks,two transition straight sections,a circulation pump,and a connection pipeline.Each section has been found to be characterized by a primary circulation and a small reverse circulation,with some sections even presenting three more or more circulation structures.The minimum circulation intensity has been detected in proximity to the top of the curved channel,while a region with small longitudinal velocity has been observed near the concave bank of each bend,corresponding to the flat bed formed after a short period of scouring.The maximum sediment deposition and scour depth in the presence of a uniform distribution of living flexible vegetation within 10 cm of the flume wall have been found to be smaller than those observed in the tests conducted without vegetation. 展开更多

Dynamic Bayesian estimation of displacement parameters of continuous curve box based on Novozhilov theory

The finite strip controlling equation of pinned curve box was deduced on basis of Novozhilov theory and with flexibility method, and the problem of continuous curve box was resolved. Dynamic Bayesian error function of displacement parameters of continuous curve box was found. The corresponding formulas of dynamic Bayesian expectation and variance were derived. After the method of solving the automatic search of step length was put forward, the optimization estimation computing formulas were also obtained by adapting conjugate gradient method. Then the steps of dynamic Bayesian estimation were given in detail. Through analysis of a Classic example, the criterion of judging the precision of the known information is gained as well as some other important conclusions about dynamic Bayesian stochastic estimation of displacement parameters of continuous curve box. 展开更多

Through the expansion curve of continuous cooling transformation at different cooling rates measured by THERMECMASTOR-Z thermal simulator for U75V rail steel,the continuous cooling transformation curve was obtained.The influence on steel microstructure and hardness at different cooling rates was studied.The softening behavior of isothermal deforming in austenite area of 850-1000 ℃ in the interval of passes was also studied by double-pass compression test.The results show that the product of austenite transformation is pearlite when the cooling rate is lower than 10 ℃.When the cooling rate was in the range of 10-50 ℃·s-1,only martensite was received.The hardness of the test steel increases with increasing the cooling rate.Under the condition of deformation of 30% and deformation rate of 3 s-1,the relaxation time for complete recrystallization was shorter than 100 s when deformation temperature was higher than 1000 ℃.When deformation temperature was lower than 880 ℃,complete recrystallization of steel was difficult to achieve even if the relaxation time is extended. 展开更多

We propose a method that automatically generates discrete bicubic G^1 continuous B-spline surfaces that interpolate the curve network of a ship huliform.First,the curves in the network are classified into two types;boundary curves and "reference curves",The boundary curves correspond to a set of rectangular(or triangular)topological type that can be representes with tensot-product (or degenerate)B-spline surface patches.Next,in the interior of the patches,surface fitting points and cross boundary derivatives are estimated from the reference curves by constructing "virtual"isoparametric curves.Finally,a discrete G^1 continuous B-spline surface is gencrated by a surface fitting algorithm.Several smooth ship hullform surfaces generated from curve networks corresponding to actual ship hullforms demonstrate the quality of the method. 展开更多
