In order to produce the required negative shock pulse in the given time duration, four hydraulic actuators are utilized. The model is then used to formulate an advanced feedforward controller for the system to produce the required negative waveform and to address the motion synchronization of the four cylinders. The model provides a safe and easily controllable way to perform a "virtual testing" before starting potentially destructive tests on specimen and to predict performance of the system. The application of air cavities on the underside of ship hulls is a promising means for reducing hydrodynamic drag and pollutant emissions and increasing marine transportation efficiency. Despite this concept's potential, design optimization and high-performance operation of novel air-cavity ships remain a challenging problem. Hull construction and sensor instrumentation of the model-scale air-cavity boat is described in the paper. The modular structure of the hull allows for easy modifications, and an electric propulsion unit enables self-propelled operation. The boat is controlled remotely via a radio transmission system. Results of initial tests are reported, including thrust, speed, and airflow rate in several loading conditions. The constructed platform can be used for optimizing air-cavity systems and testing other innovative hull designs. This system can be also developed into a high-performance unmanned boat.展开更多

This method uses type 2 feedback control loops to replace mathematical iteration to solve the nonlinear dynamic equation. A spectral radius analysis of the amplification matrix shows that the type 2 EFC-explicit, Newmark-β method has beneficial numerical characteristics for this method. Its stability limit of Ω = 2 remains unchanged regardless of the system damping because the velocity is achieved with very high accuracy during simulation. In contrast, the stability limits of the central difference method using direct velocity prediction and the EFC-average acceleration method with linear interpolation are shown to decrease with an increase in system damping. In fact, the EFC-average acceleration method is shown to change from unconditionally stable to conditionally stable. We also show that if an over-damped system with a damping ratio of 1.05 is considered, the stability limit is reduced to Ω =1.45. Finally, the results from an experiment with a single-degree-of-freedom structure installed with a magneto-rheological(MR) damper are presented. The results demonstrate that the proposed method is able to follow both displacement and velocity commands with moderate accuracy, resulting in improved test performance and accuracy for structures that are sensitive to both velocity and displacement inputs. Although the findings of the study are promising, additional test data and several further improvements will be required to draw general conclusions.展开更多

Objective: To establish the concordance between medical criteria and the Childhood-Asthma Control Test (cACT). Design: Study of the assessment of diagnostic technology using transverse sampling. 127 asthma patients aged between 4 and 11 years and their parents filled before clinical evaluation made by a pediatric pneumologist. Patients were classified as controlled or not controlled. Criteria validity was established comparing this classification using Cohen’s kappa and performance indicators according to ROC analysis. Results: 78% of the patients were controlled;patients who are not controlled have a higher score in cACT (mean difference: 3.25 points). Concordance among cACT subscales is acceptable (ρ = 0.554). cACT’s sensitivity was 53.6%, specificity 78.8%, positive likelihood ratio (LR+) 2.53, and negative likelihood ratio (LR-) 0.59. The best cut-off point is 15, with 98% sensitivity, a specificity of 14.3%, LR+ in 1.14, and LR- in 0.14. Conclusions: cACT is a valid tool to determine asthma control in children without replacing medical criteria or other clinical tests. In populations with difficult access to high complexity services, it is useful to decide whether urgent referral to the specialist is necessary.展开更多

In this paper, studies of several EMD control strategies and bench-scale shaking table tests of a two-story model structure are described. First, two structural models corresponding to uncontrolled and Zeroed cases are developed, and parameters of these models are validated through sinusoidal sweep tests to provide a basis for establishing an accurate mathematical model for further studies. Then, a simplified control strategy for the EMD system based on the pole assignment control algorithm is proposed. Moreover, ideal pole locations are derived and validated through a series of shaking table tests. Finally, three benchmark earthquake ground motions and sinusoidal sweep waves are imposed onto the structure to investigate the effectiveness and feasibility of using this type of innovative active control system for structural vibration control. In addition, the robustness of the EMD system is examined. The test results show that the EMD system is an effective and robust system for the control of structural vibrations.展开更多

It has been revealed that the robust stability of the quasipolynomials depends on that of their edge polynomials. This paper transforms the interval quasipolynomials into two-dimensional (2-D) interval polynomials (2-D s-z hybrid polynomials), proves that the robust stability of interval 2-D polynomials are sufficient for the stability of given quasipolynomials. Thus, the stability test of interval quasipolynomials can be completed in 2-D s-z domain instead of classical 1-D s domain. The 2-D s-z hybrid polynomials should have different forms under the time delay properties of given quasipolynomials. The stability test proposed by the paper constructs an edge test set from Kharitonov vertex polynomials to reduce the number of testing edge polynomials. The 2-D algebraic tests are provided for the stability test of vertex 2-D polynomials and edge 2-D polynomials family. To verify the results of the paper to be correct and valid, the simulations based on proposed results and comparison with other presented results are given.展开更多

The best cut-off point is 15, with 98% sensitivity, a specificity of 14.3%, LR+ in 1.14, and LR- in 0.14. Conclusions: cACT is a valid tool to determine asthma control in children without replacing medical criteria or other clinical tests. In populations with difficult access to high complexity services, it is useful to decide whether urgent referral to the specialist is necessary.

文摘The electromagnetic mass damper (EMD) control system, as an innovative active control system to reduce structural vibration, offers many advantages over traditional active mass driver/damper (AMD) control systems. The test results show that the EMD system is an effective and robust system for the control of structural vibrations.

文摘The robust stability test of time-delay systems with interval parameters can be concluded into the robust stability of the interval quasipolynomials. To verify the results of the paper to be correct and valid, the simulations based on proposed results and comparison with other presented results are given.

文摘Morphing wing has attracted many research attention and effort in aircraft technology development because of its advantage in lift to draft ratio and flight performance.Morphing wing technology combines the lift and control surfaces into a seamless wing and integrates the primary structure together with the internal control system. It makes use of the wing aeroelastic deformation induced by the control surface to gain direct force control through desirable redistribution of aerodynamic forces. However some unknown mechanical parameters of the control system and complexity of the integrated structure become a main challenge for dynamic modeling of morphing wing.To solve the problem,a method of test data based modal sensitivity analysis is presented to improve the morphing wing FE model by evaluating the unknown parameters and identifying the modeling boundary conditions. An innovative seamless morphing wing with the structure integrated with a flexible trailing edge control system is presented for the investigation. An experimental model of actuation system driven by a servo motor for the morphing wing is designed and established.By performing a vibration test and the proposed modal sensitivity analysis, the unknown torsional stiffness of the servo motor and the boundary condition of the actuation mechanism model is identified and evaluated.Comparing with the test data, the average error of the first four modal frequency of the improved FE model is reduced significantly to less than 4%.To further investigate the morphing wing modeling,a wing box and then a whole morphing wing model including the skin and integrated with the trailing edge actuation system are established and tested.By using the proposed method, the FE model is improved by relaxing the constraint between the skin and actuation mechanism. The results show that the average error of the first three modal frequency of the improved FE model is reduced to less than 6%.The research results demonstrate that the presented seamless morphing wing integrated with a flexible trailing edge control surface can improve aerodynamic characteristics.By using the test data based modal sensitivity analysis method, the unknown parameter and boundary condition of the actuation model can be determined to improve the FE model. The problem in dynamic modeling of high accuracy for a morphing wing can be solved in an effective manner.
