Beam splitting is one of the main approaches to achieving x-ray ghost imaging, and the intensity correlation between diffraction beam and transmission beam will directly affect the imaging quality. In this paper, we investigate the intensity correlation between the split x-ray beams by Laue diffraction of stress-free crystal. The analysis based on the dynamical theory of x-ray diffraction indicates that the spatial resolution of diffraction image and transmission image are reduced due to the position shift of the exit beam. In the experimental setup, a stress-free crystal with a thickness of hundredmicrometers-level is used for beam splitting. The crystal is in a non-dispersive configuration equipped with a double-crystal monochromator to ensure that the dimension of the diffraction beam and transmission beam are consistent. A correlation coefficient of 0.92 is achieved experimentally and the high signal-to-noise ratio of the x-ray ghost imaging is anticipated. Results of this paper demonstrate that the developed beam splitter of Laue crystal has the potential in the efficient data acquisition of x-ray ghost imaging. 展开更多

Using the linear approximation method, we have studied how the correlation function C(t) of the laser intensity changes with time in the loss-noise model of the single-mode laser driven by the colored pump noise with signal modulation and the quantum noise with cross-correlation between the real and imaginary parts. We have found that when the pump noise self-correlation time T changes, (i) in the case of r 〈〈 1, the C(t) vs. t curve experiences a changing process from the monotonous descending to monotonous rise, and finally to the appearance of a maximum; (ii) in the case of r 〉〉 1, the curve only exhibits periodically surging with descending envelope. When r 〈〈 i and T does not change, with the increase of the pump noise intensity P, the curve experiences a repeated changing process, that is, from the monotonous descending to the appearance of a maximum, then to monotonous rise, and finally to the appearance of a maximum again. With the increase of the quantum noise intensity O,, the curve experiences a changing process from the monotonous rise to the appearance of a maximum, and finally to the monotonous descending. The increase of the quantum noise with cross-correlation between the real and imaginary parts will lead to the fall of the whole curve, but not affect the form of the time evolution of C(t). 展开更多

The effect on intensity correlation time T by input signal is studied for gain-noise model of a single-mode laser driven by colored pump noise and colored quantum noise with colored cross-correlation with a bias signal modulation in this paper. By using the linear approximation method, we detect that there exists maximum (i.e., resonance) in the curve of the intensity correlation time T upon bias current io when the noise correlation coefficient λ is positive; and there exists minimum (i.e., suppression) in the T-io curve when λ is negative. And whenλ is zero, T increases monotonously with increasing io. Furthermore, the curve of T upon the signal frequency Ω is also studied. Our study shows that no matter what the value of λ is, there exists minimum (i.e., suppression) in the T-Ω curve. 展开更多

By using the linear approximation method, the intensity correlation function is calculated for a single-mode laser modulated by a bias signal and driven by colored pump and quantum noises with colored cross-correlation. We found that, when the correlation time between the two noises is very short, the behavior of the intensity correlation function versus the time, in addition to decreasing monotonously, also exhibits several cases, such as one maximum, one minimum, and two extrema. When the correlation time between the two noises is very long, the behavior of the intensity correlation function exhibits oscillation and the envelope is similar to the case of short cross-correlation time. 展开更多

Third-order Hanbrury Brown-Twiss and double-slit interference experiments with a pseudo-thermal light are performed by recording intensities in single, double and triple optical paths, respectively. The experimental results verifies the theoretical prediction that the indispensable condition for achieving a interference pattern or ghost image in Nth-order intensity correlation measurements is the synchronous detection of the same light field by each reference detector, no matter the intensities recorded in one, or two, or N optical paths. It is shown that, when the reference detectors are scanned in the opposite directions, the visibility and resolution of the third-order spatial correlation function of thermal light is much better than that scanned in the same direction, but it is no use for obtaining the Nth-order interference pattern or ghost image in the thermal Nth-order interference or ghost imaging. 展开更多

BACKGROUND: Researches prove that the treatment of cerebral palsy by botulinus toxin (BTX-A) can improve effect and prolong effective duration. Current intensity is the important factor during injection. OBJECTIVE: To observe the changes of motor function and muscular intensity of children with spastic cerebral palsy after injecting BTX-A and analyze correlation between current intensity and effective duration. DESIGN: Cases control trial before and after nerves block SETTING: Capital University of Medical Sciences, China Rehabilitation Research Center PARTICIPANTS: From June 2002 to November 2004, 14 children with spastic cerebral palsy were treated by BTX-A block. All children were hospitalized in the Children Rehabilitation Department of China Rehabilitation Research Center. The children included 9 male and 5 female, and ranged from 4 to 13 years old, and average age was (6±2) years. Muscular tension ranged from grade 1 to grade 3. The diagnosis and the tape of cerebral palsy based on standard of the Fist Nationwide Cerebral Palsy Symposium, and all children were diagnosed with electroencephalogram (EEG), CT and MRI, and permitted by their guardians. METHODS: (1) Locating and calculation: To locate block points by G6805-2A electro-therapeutic apparatus (Shanghai Huayi Electronic Instrument Plant) at the least stimulating current (continuous wave; impulse frequency; 2.667-83.333 Hz; current intensity: 0-6 mA; voltage: 6 V) to touch off muscles contraction. The current intensity of each point was recorded, and the average current intensity of each patient was calculated at the same time. (2) Dose of BTX-A: Basing upon the spastic degree and weight of patients, the dose was made certain: dose (IU)=(scores of Modified Ashworth Scale +2.5) xweight (kg). The number of the block points was in all 4. The dose of injection ranged from 50 IU to 160 IU with the average of (73.6+25.8) IU. The BTX-A was made by Lanzhou Institute of Biological Products, and each bottle contains 100 IU BTX-A. Muscular tension was evaluated by Modified Ashworth Scale. The scale ranged from grade 0 to grade 4, and the scores were from 0 to 4. The higher the scores were, the higher the muscular tension was. (3) Effect: Changes of muscular tension were evaluated by modified Ashworth Scale before and after block. Motor function was evaluated by Physician Rating Scale (PRS) before and after treatment. It contained Gait pattern, Hindfoot (ankle) position (stance-floor contact), Hindfoot position (foot strike), Knee position (degree of recurvation), Crouch and Speed of gait. The scores ranged from 0 to 14. The higher the points were, the better the motor function was. (4) Effective duration: The duration was definited by the recovering of the Modified Ashworth Scale. (5) Statistic analysis: Firstly, the current intensity and the effect duration were analyzed by One-Sample Kolmogorov-Smirnov Test, the current intensity: Z= 0.456, P= 0.985, the effective duration: Z= 0.557, P= 0.915. Both data were normal distribution. Secondly, both data were analyzed by Linear Regression. The efficiency of the BTX-A block was analyzed by paired-samples t test. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: (1) Changes of motor function of muscular tension; (2) correlation between current intensity and effective duration. RESULTS: Fourteen children with spastic cerebral palsy were all involved in the final analysis. (1) Therapeutic effect: The average score of Ashworth scale after block was lower than that before block [(1.02±0.34) points vs. (2.12±0.48) points, t= 3.644, P〈 0.01]. The average score of RPS after block was higherthan that before block [(9.75±2.78) points vs. (6.16±0.58) points, t =13.222, P〈 0.01]. (2) Relation between the current intensity and the effective duration: The current intensity was (0.1857±0.0506) mA, and the effective duration was (26.36±4.48) weeks. The current intensity was negative correlation with effective duration (r = -0.775, P = 0.01 ). CONCLUSION: (1) BTX-A occlusion can decrease muscular tension and improve motor function of lower limbs of children with spastic cerebral palsy. (2) The lower the current intensity is, the longer the effective duration is. 展开更多

High-precision angle measurement of pulsars is critical for realizing pulsar navigation.Compared to visible light and radio waves, the wavelength of X-rays is incredibly short, which provides the possibility of achieving better spatial resolution. However, due to the lack of applicable X-ray apparatus, extracting the angle information of pulsars through conventional X-ray methods is challenging. Here,we propose an approach of pulsar angle measurement based on spatially modulated X-ray intensity correlation(SMXIC),in which the angle information is obtained by measuring the spatial intensity correlation between two radiation fields. The theoretical model for this method has been established, and a proof-of-concept experiment was carried out.The SMXIC measurement of observing angles has been demonstrated, and the experimental results are consistent with the theoretical values. The potential of this method in future applications is discussed, and theoretically, the angular measurement at the level of micro-arcsecond can be expected. The sphere of pulsar navigation may benefit from our fresh insights. 展开更多

Using the linear approximation method, this paper studies the statistical property of a single-mode laser driven by both coloured pump noise with signal modulation and the quantum noise with cross-correlation between its real and imaginary parts, and calculates the steady-state mean normalized intensity fluctuation and intensity correlation time. It analyses the influences of the modulation signal, the net gain coefficient, the noise and its correlation form on the statistical fluctuation of the laser system respectively. It is found that the coloured pump noise modulated by the signal has a great suppressing action on the statistical fluctuation of the laser system; the pump noise self-correlation time and the specific frequency of modulation signal have the result that the statistical fluctuation tends to zero. Furthermore, the 'colour' correlation of pump noise has much influences on the statistical fluctuation of the laser system. Increasing the intensity of pump noise will augment the statistical fluctuation of the laser system, but the intensity of quantum noise and the coefficient of cross-correlation between its real and imaginary parts have less influence on the statistical fluctuation of the laser system. Therefore, from the conclusions of this paper the statistical property can be known and a theoretical basis for steady operation and output of the laser system can be provided. 展开更多

The three-dimensional electron-electron correlation in an elliptically polarized laser field is investigated based on a semiclassical model. Asymmetry parameter α of the correlated electron momentum distribution is used to quantitatively describe the electron-electron correlation. The dependence of α on elliptieity e is totally different in three directions. For the z direction (maJor polarization direction), α first increases and reaches a maximum at ε = 0.275, then it decreases quickly. For the y direction in which the laser field is always absent, the ellipticity has a minor effect, and the asymmetry parameter fluctuates around α = -0.15. However, for the x direction (minor polarization direction), α increases monotonously with ellipticity though starts from the same value as in the y direction when ε = 0. The behavior of α in the x direction actually indicates a transformation from the Coulomb interaction dominated correlation to the laser field dominated correlation. Therefore, our work provides an efficient way to control the three-dimensional electron electron correlation via an elliptically polarized intense laser field. 展开更多

High-order ghost imaging with thermal light consisting of N different frequencies is investigated. The high-order intensity correlation and intrinsic correlation functions are derived for such N-colour light. It is found that they are similar in form to those for the monochromatic case, thus most of the conclusions we obtained previously for monochromatic Nth-order ghost imaging are still applicable. However, we find that the visibility of the N-colour ghost image depends strongly on the wavelength used to illuminate the object, and increases as this wavelength increases when the test arm is fixed. On the contrary, changes of wavelength in the reference arms do not lead to any change of the visibility. 展开更多

We present the joint probability density function(PDF) between the bucket signals and reference signals in thermal light ghost imaging, by regarding these signals as stochastic variables. The joint PDF allows us to examine the fractional-order moments of the bucket and the reference signals, in which the correlation orders are fractional numbers, other than positive integers in previous studies. The experimental results show that various images can be reconstructed from fractional-order moments. Negative(positive) ghost images are obtained with negative(positive) orders of the bucket signals. The visibility and peak signal-to-noise ratios of the diverse ghost images depend greatly on the fractional orders. 展开更多

Summary:Interleukin 17A(IL 17A)is reported to be involved in many inflammatory processes, but its role in aortic valve diseases remains unknown. We examined the role of IL17A based on an ApoE^-/-mouse model with strategies as fed with high-fat diet or treated with ILI7A monoclonal antibody(mAb).12 weeks of high-fat diet feeding can elevate cytokines secretion, inflammatory cells infiltration and myofibroblastic transition of valvular interstitial cells(VICs)in aortic valve.Moreover,diet-induction accelerated interleukin 17 receptor A(IL17RA)activation in VICs.In an IL17A inhibition model, the treatment group was intra-peritoneally injected with anti-IL17A mAb while controls received irrelevant antibody.Functional blockade of IL17A markedly reduced cellular infiltration and transition in aortic valve. To investigate potential mechanisms,NF-kB was co-stained in IL17RA^+VICs and IL17RA macrophages, and further confirmed by Western blotting in VICs.High-fat diet could activate NF-kB nuclear translocation in IL17RA^+VICs and IL17RA^+macrophages and this process was depressed after IL17A mAb-treatment.In conclusion,high-fat diet can lead to IL17A upregulation,VICs myofibroblastic transition and inflammatory cells infiltration in the aortic value of ApoE^-/-mice.Blocking IL17A with IL17A mAb can alleviate aortic valve inflammatory states. 展开更多

We derive theoretically and verify experimentally a concise general expression for the normalized intensity correlations(IC)of partially coherent light in a weak atmospheric turbulence in the fast detector measurement regime. The derived relation reveals that the medium turbulence acts,in general,as an additional noise source enhancing the IC of partially coherent beams. The maximum of the beam IC is,in general, enhanced, causing the fields to exhibit super-Gaussian statistics. On the other hand, the relation indicates that turbulence-induced noise is negligible for sufficiently low coherence light, which reveals the condition for the turbulence-free correlation imaging. 展开更多

We study the photon statistics of pulse-pumped four-wave mixing in fibers with weak coherent signal injection by measuring the intensity correlation functions of individual signal and idler fields. The experimental results show that the intensity correlation function of individual signal(idler) field g_(s(i))^(2) decreases with the intensity of signal injection. After applying narrow band filter in signal(idler) band, the value of g_(s(i))^(2) decreases from 1.9 ± 0.02(1.9 ± 0.02) to 1.03 ± 0.02(1.05 ± 0.02) when the intensity of signal injection varies from 0 to 120 photons/pulse. The results indicate that the photon statistics changes from Bose–Einstein distribution to Poisson distribution. We calculate the intensity correlation functions by using the multi-mode theory of four-wave mixing in fibers. The theoretical curves well fit the experimental results. Our investigation will be useful for mitigating the crosstalk between quantum and classical channels in a dense wavelength division multiplexing network. 展开更多

The fourier-transform patterns of an object are usually observed in the far-field region or obtained in the near-field region with the help of lenses. Here we propose and experimentally demonstrate a scheme of Fourier-transform patterns in the Fresnel diffraction region with thermal light. In this scheme, neither a lens nor a bearnsplitter is used, and only one single charge coupled device (CCD) is employed. It means that dividing one beam out of a light source into signal and reference beams is not as necessary as the one done by the use of a beamsplitter in usual ghost interference experiments. Moreover, the coincidence measurement of two point detectors is not necessary and data recorded on a single CCD are sufficient for reconstructing the ghost diffraction patterns. The feature of the scheme promises a great potential application in the fields of X-ray and neutron diffraction imaging processes. 展开更多

Encoding information using the topological charge of vortex beams has been proposed for optical communications. The conservation of the topological charge on propagation and the detection of the topological charge by a receiver are significant in these applications and have been well established in free-space. However, when vortex beams enter a diffuser, the wavefront is distorted, leading to a challenge in the conservation and detection of the topological charge. Here, we present a technique to measure the value of the topological charge of a vortex beam obscured in the randomly scattered light. The results of the numerical simulations and experiments are presented and are in good agreement. In particular, only a single-shot measurement is required to detect the topological charge of vortex beams, indicating that the method is applicable to a dynamic diffuser. 展开更多

Scattering media, such as diffused glass and biological tissue, are usually treated as obstacles in imaging. To cope with the random phase introduced by a turbid medium, most existing imaging techniques recourse to either phase compensation by optical means or phase recovery using iterative algorithms, and their applications are often limited to two-dimensional imaging. In contrast,we utilize the scattering medium as an unconventional imaging lens and exploit its lens-like properties for lensless threedimensional(3D)imaging with diffraction-limited resolution. Our spatially incoherent lensless imaging technique is simple and capable of variable focusing with adjustable depths of focus that enables depth sensing of 3D objects that are concealed by the diffusing medium.Wide-field imaging with diffraction-limited resolution is verified experimentally by a single-shot recording of the 1951 USAF resolution test chart, and 3D imaging and depth sensing are demonstrated by shifting focus over axially separated objects. 展开更多
