Dirac proposed the Large Number Hypothesis and the Hypothesis of the variable gravitational “constant”, and later added the notion of continuous creation of Matter in the World. The Hypersphere World-Universe Model (WUM) follows these ideas, albeit introducing a different mechanism of Matter creation. In this paper, we show that Gravitational parameter G that can be measured directly makes measurable all Cosmological parameters, which cannot be measured directly. 展开更多

Galaxy clusters present unique advantages for cosmological study. Here we collect a new sample of 10 lensing galaxy clusters with X-ray observations to constrain cosmological parameters. The redshifts of the lensing clusters lie between 0.1 and 0.6,and the redshift range of their arcs is from 0.4 to 4.9.These clusters are selected carefully from strong gravitational lensing systems which have both X-ray satellite observations and optical giant luminous arcs with known redshifts.Giant arcs usually appear in the central region of clusters, where mass can be traced with luminosity quite well.Based on gravitational lensing theory and a cluster mass distribution model,we can derive a ratio using two angular diameter distances. One is the distance between lensing sources and the other is that between the deflector and the source. Since angular diameter distance relies heavily on cosmological geometry,we can use these ratios to constrain cosmological models.Moreover,X-ray gas fractions of galaxy clusters can also be a cosmological probe.Because there are a dozen parameters to be fitted,we introduce a new analytic algorithm,Powell's UOBYQA(Unconstrained Optimization By Quadratic Approximation) ,to accelerate our calculation. Our result demonstrates that this algorithm is an effective fitting method for such a continuous multi-parameter constraint. We find an interesting fact that these two approaches are separately sensitive toΩΛandΩM.By combining them,we can get reasonable fitting values of basic cosmological parameters:ΩM=0.26 +0.04 -0.04,andΩΛ=0.82 +0.14 -0.16. 展开更多

In this paper, the effect of the intrinsic distribution of cosmological candles is investigated. We find that in the case of a narrow distribution the deviation of the observed modulus of sources from the expected central value can be estimated within a ceratin range. We thus introduce lower and upper limits of X^2, X^2min and X^2max to estimate cosmological parameters by applying the conventional minimizing X^2 method. We apply this method to a gammaray burst (GRB) sample as well as to a combined sample including this GRB sample and an SN Ia sample. Our analysis shows that: a) in the case of assuming an intrinsic distribution of candles of the GRB sample, the effect of the distribution is obvious and should not be neglected; b) taking into account this effect would lead to a poorer constraint of the cosmological parameter ranges. The analysis suggests that in the attempt of constraining the cosmological model with current GRB samples, the results tend to be worse than was previously anticipated if the mentioned intrinsic distribution does exist. 展开更多

Recently, several statistically significant tensions between different cosmological datasets have raised doubts about the standard Lambda cold dark matter(ACDM)model.A recent letter(Huang 2020)suggests to use"Parameterization based on cosmic Age"(PAge)to approximate a broad class of beyondACDM models, with a typical accuracy~1%in angular diameter distances at z■10.In this work,we extend PAge to a More Accurate Parameterization based on cosmic Age(MAPAge)by adding a new degree of freedomη2.The parameterη2 describes the difference between physically motivated models and their phenomenological PAge approximations. The accuracy of MAPAge,typically of order 10-3 in angular diameter distances at z■10,is significantly better than PAge.We compare PAge and MAPAge with current observational data and forecast data. The conjecture in Huang(2020),that PAge approximation is sufficiently good for current observations,is quantitatively confirmed in this work.We also show that the extension from PAge to MAPAge is important for future observations, which typically require sub-percent accuracy in theoretical predictions. 展开更多

In this paper,we use three different kinds of observational data, including 130 strong gravitational lensing(SGL)systems, type Ia supernovae(SNeIa:Pantheon and Union2.1)and 31 Hubble parameter data points(H(z))from cosmic chronometers to constrain the phenomenological model(ρ_(x)∝ρ_(m)a^(ξ)).By combining these three kinds of data(Union2.1+SGL+H(z)),we get the parameter value at the confidence interval of 2σ,Ω_(X,0)=0.69±0.34,ω_(x)=−1.24±0.61,ξ=3.8±3.9 and H_(0)=70.22±0.86 kms^(−1) Mpc^(−1).According to our results,we find that theΛCDM model is still the model which is in best agreement with the observational data at present, and the coincidence problem is not alleviated. In addition, the Ω_(X) and Ω_(m) have the same order of magnitude in 0<z<1.26.Finally,we obtain the transition redshift z_(T)=0.645.If the transition occurs in z>0.645,it is necessary to introduce the dark energy interacting with dark matter. 展开更多

This paper reports a detailed study of generalized Chaplygin gas(GCG)with power law form of scale factor and truncated form of the scale factor using binomial expansion in both interacting and non-interacting scenarios along with its cosmological consequences, studied in terms of equation of state(EoS)parameter. In the non-interacting scenario, the EoS parameter behaves as quintessence in both forms of the scale factor. In the interacting scenario, the EoS parameter behaves as phantom and for the truncated form of the scale factor,it violates the constraints of the positive parameterα.The cosmological implementation of GCG interacting with pressureless dark matter is investigated in the framework of f(T)modified gravity, where T is the torsion scalar in teleparallelism. The interaction term is directly proportional to the GCG density with positive coupling constant. In f(T)gravity, the EoS is behaving like phantom. The stability of the reconstructed model is investigated and it is found to be stable against small gravitational perturbations,i.e.,the squared speed of sound is non-negative and an increasing function of cosmic time t.We have observed that our reconstructed f(T)model satisfies one of the sufficient conditions of a realistic reconstructed model and it is consistent with the CMB constraints and primordial nucleosynthesis.Cosmology of primordial perturbations has also been analyzed and the self-interacting potential has been found to be an increasing function of cosmic time t. 展开更多

In order to explore the properties of cosmic neutrinos, i.e. sum of the neutrino mass (∑mv) and the effective number of neutrino species (Neff), which affects the Hubble expansion rate H(z) and the power of observational Hubble parameter data (OHD) in constraining cosmological parameters under the ACDM model, we utilize OHD to constrain the properties of cosmic neutrinos and apply an accurate H(z) function with ∑ mv, and Neff. First, we simulate new OHD beyond the existing 43 OHD. According to the predictions of measurements of Ho (the current H(z) value), baryon acoustic oscillations (BAO) peaks, Sandage-Loeb (SL) test and cosmic microwave background (CMB), we as-sume observational accuracy up to 2% and redshift 0 〈 z ~〈 5. With simulated H(z) data obtained from the fiducial model, we constrain the parameters including ∑ mv, and Neff. When all parameters are set free, ∑mv 〈 0.196eV (95%) and Neff = 2.984 ± 0.826 (68%) are obtained, and when fixing Neff as the standard baseline 3.046, we attain ∑ mv 〈 0.240 eV (95%). These constrained results are much tighter than the ones obtained by the current OHD, which makes the prospect of OHD in constraining cosmological parameters more promising as its accuracy and quantity grow. 展开更多

The Hubble constant(H_0),which represents the expansion rate of the universe,is one of the most important cosmological parameters. The recent measurements of H0using the distance ladder methods such as type Ia supernovae are significantly greater than the CMB measurements by Planck. The difference points to a crisis in the standard model of cosmology termed Hubble tension. In this work we compare different cosmological models, determine the Hubble constant and comment on the Hubble tension using the data from differential ages of galaxies. The data we use are free from systematic effects as the absolute age estimation of the galaxies is not needed. We apply the Bayesian approach along with the commonly used maximum likelihood method to estimate H_0 and calculate the AIC scores to compare the different cosmological models. The non-flat cosmological model provides a higher value for matter density as well as the Hubble constant compared to the flatΛCDM model. The AIC score is smaller for the flatΛCDM cosmology compared to the non-flat model indicating the flat model a better choice. The best-fit values of H_0 for both these models are 68.7±3.1 km s^(-1)Mpc^(-1)and 72.2±4km s^(-1)Mpc^(-1),respectively.Our results are consistent with the CCHP measurements. However, the flat model result does not agree with the SH0ES result, while the non-flat result is inconsistent with the Planck value. 展开更多

In this paper, we propose a new parametrization for Om(z) diagnostics and show how the most recent and significantly improved observations concerning the H(z) and SN Ia measurements can be used to probe the consistency or tension between the ΛCDM model and observations. Our results demonstrate that H0 plays a very important role in the consistency test of ΛCDM with H(z)data. Adopting the Hubble constant priors from Planck 2013 and Riess, one finds considerable tension between the current H(z) data and ΛCDM model and confirms the conclusions obtained previously by others. However, with the Hubble constant prior taken from WMAP9, the discrepancy between H(z) data and ΛCDM disappears, i.e., the current H(z) observations still support the cosmological constant scenario. This conclusion is also supported by the results derived from the Joint Lightcurve Analysis(JLA) SN Ia sample. The best-fit Hubble constant from the combination of H(z)+JLA(H00 = 68.81+1.5-1.49 km s-1 Mpc-1) is very consistent with results derived both by Planck 2013 and WMAP9, but is significantly different from the recent local measurement by Riess. 展开更多

We have investigated late time acceleration for a spatially fiat dust filled Universe in Brans- Dicke theory in the presence of a positive cosmological constant A. Expressions for Hubble's constant, luminosity distance and apparent magnitude have been obtained for our model. The theoretical results are compared with observed values of the latest 287 high redshift (0.3 ≤ z ≤1.4) Type Ia supernova data taken from the Union 2.1 compilation to estimate present values of matter and dark energy parame- ters, (Ωm)0 and (ΩA)0. We have also estimated the present value of Hubble's constant H0 in light of an updated sample of Hubble parameter measurements including 19 independent data points. The results are found to be in good agreement with recent astrophysical observations. We also calculated various physical parameters such as matter and dark energy densities, present age of the Universe and decelera- tion parameter. The value for Brans-Dicke-coupling constant ω is set to be 40 000 based on accuracy of solar system tests and recent experimental evidence. 展开更多

We discuss a recent analysis by Yu et al.[RAA 11,125(2011)] about constraints on the smoothness parameter α and dark energy models using observational H(z) data.It is argued here that their procedure is conceptually inconsistent with the basic assumptions underlying the adopted Dyer-Roeder approach. In order to properly quantify the influence of the H(z) data on the smoothness parameter α,a χ2-test involving a sample of type Ia supernovae and H(z) data in the context of a flat ΛCDM model is reanalyzed. This result is confronted with an earlier approach discussed by Santos et al.(2008) without H(z) data.In the(Ωm,α) plane,it is found that such parameters are now restricted to be in the intervals 0.66 ≤ α ≤ 1.0 and 0.27 ≤ Ωm ≤ 0.37 within the 95.4 confidence level(2σ),and,therefore,are fully compatible with the homogeneous case. The basic conclusion is that a joint analysis involving H(z) data can indirectly improve our knowledge about the influence of the inhomogeneities. However, this happens only because the H(z) data provide tighter constraints on the matter density parameter Ωm. 展开更多

With large-scale homogeneity, the universe is locally inhomogeneous, clustering into stars, galaxies and larger structures.Such property is described by the smoothness parameter α which is defined as the proportion of matter in the form of intergalactic medium. If we consider the inhomogeneities over a small scale, there should be modifications of the cosmological distances compared to a homogenous model.Dyer and Roeder developed a second-order ordinary differential equation(D-R equation) that describes the angular diameter distance-redshift relation for inhomogeneous cosmological models.Furthermore,we may obtain the D-R equation for observational H(z) data(OHD).The density-parameter ΩM,the state of dark energy ω,and the smoothness-parameter α are constrained by a set of OHD in a spatially flat XCDM universe as well as a spatially flat XCDM universe.By using a χ2 minimization method,we get α = 0.81+0.19-0.20 and ΩM = 0.32+0.12-0.06 at the 1σ confidence level. If we assume a Gaussian prior of ΩM = 0.26 ± 0.1,we get α = 0.93+0.07-0.19 and ΩM = 0.31+0.06-0.05.For the XCDM model,α is constrained to α≥ 0.80 but ω is weakly constrained around-1,where ω describes the equation of state of the dark energy(pX = ωρX).We conclude that OHD constrains the smoothness parameter more effectively than the data of SNe Ia and compact radio sources. 展开更多

We explore degeneracies in strong lensing model so to make time delay data consistent with the WMAP (Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe) cosmology. Previous models using a singular isothermal lens often yield a time delay between the observed multiple images too small than the observed value if we "hardwire" the now widely quoted post-WMAP "high" value of the Hubble constant (Ho ~71 ± 4km s^-1 Mpc^-1). Alternatively, the lens density profile (star plus dark matter) is required to be locally steeper than r-2 (isothermal) profile near the Einstein radius (of the order 3 kpc) to fit the time delays; a naive extrapolation of a very steep profile to large radius would imply a lens halo with a scale length of the order only 3 kpc, too compact to be consistent with CDM. We explore more sophisticated, mathematically smooth, positive lens mass density profiles which are consistent with a large halo and the post-WMAP H0. Thanks to the spherical monopole degeneracy, the "reshuffling" of the mass in a lens model does not affect the quality of the fit to the image positions, amplifications, and image time delays. Even better, unlike the better-known mass sheet degeneracy, the stellar mass-to-light and the H0 value are not affected either. We apply this monopole degeneracy to the quadruple imaged time-delay system PG 1115+080. Finally we discuss the implications of the time delay data on the newly proposed relativistic MOND theory. 展开更多

The Brans-Dicke(BD)theory is the simplest Scalar-Tensor theory of gravity, which can be considered as a candidate of modified Einstein’s theory of general relativity. In this work,we forecast the constraints on BD theory in the CSST galaxy clustering spectroscopic survey with a magnitude limit~23 AB mag for point-source 5σdetection.We generate mock data based on the zCOSMOS catalog and consider the observational and instrumental effects of the CSST spectroscopic survey. We predict galaxy power spectra in the BD theory from z=0 to 1.5,and the galaxy bias and other systematical parameters are also included. The Markov Chain Monte Carlo technique is employed to find the best-fits and probability distributions of the cosmological and systematical parameters.A BD parameterζis introduced, which satisfiesζ=In(1+(1/ω)).We find that the CSST spectroscopic galaxy clustering survey can give|ξ|<10^(-2),or equivalently|ω|>O(10^(2))and|■/G|<10^(-13),under the assumptionζ=0.These constraints are almost at the same order of magnitude compared to the joint constraints using the current cosmic microwave background, baryon acoustic oscillations and TypeⅠa supernova data, indicating that the CSST galaxy clustering spectroscopic survey would be powerful for constraining the BD theory and other modified gravity theories. 展开更多

In this work, a computer optimization model has been developed that allows one to load the initial data of observations of supernovae 1a into a table and, in simple steps, by searching for the best fit between observations and theory, obtain the values of the parameters of cosmological models. The optimization is carried out assuming that the absolute magnitude of supernovae is not constant, but evolves with time. It is assumed that the dependence of the absolute magnitude on the redshift is linear: M = M( z = 0) + εc z, where εc is the evolution coefficient of the absolute magnitude of type 1a supernovae. In the case of a flat universe ( ΩM + ΩΛ = 1 ), the best fit between theory and observation is εc = 0.304. In this case, for the cosmological parameters we obtain ΩΛ = 0.000, ΩM =1.000. Naturally, this result exactly coincides with the simulation result for the model with zero cosmological constant ( εc = 0.304, q0 = 0.500 ). Within the framework of the ΛCDM model, without restriction on space curvature ( ΩM + ΩΛ+ ΩK = 1 ), we obtain the following values: εc = 0.304, ΩΛ = 0.000, ΩM = 1.000, ΩK =0.000. Those, this case also leads to a flat model of the Universe ( ΩK =0.000 ). In this work, the critical influence of the absolute magnitude M of type 1a supernovae on the cosmological parameters is also shown. In particular, it was found that a change in this value by only 0.4m (from -19.11 to -18.71) leads to a change in the parameters from ΩΛ = 0.7 and ΩM = 0.3 to ΩΛ = 0 and ΩM =1. 展开更多

We develop a Python tool to estimate the tail distribution of the number of dark matter halos beyond a mass threshold and in a given volume in a light-cone.The code is based on the extended Press-Schechter model and is computationally efficient, typically taking a few seconds on a personal laptop for a given set of cosmological parameters. The high efficiency of the code allows a quick estimation of the tension between cosmological models and the red candidate massive galaxies released by the James Webb Space Telescope,as well as scanning the theory space with the Markov Chain Monte Carlo method. As an example application,we use the tool to study the cosmological implication of the candidate galaxies presented in Labbéet al.The standard Λcold dark matter(ΛCDM)model is well consistent with the data if the star formation efficiency can reach~0.3 at high redshift. For a low star formation efficiency ε~0.1,theΛCDM model is disfavored at~2σ-3σconfidence level. 展开更多

The Multi-channel Photometric Survey Telescope(Mephisto)is a real-time,three-color photometric system designed to capture the color evolution of stars and transients accurately. This telescope system can be crucial in cosmological distance measurements of low-redshift(low-z,z■0.1)Type Ia supernovae(SNe Ia).To optimize the capabilities of this instrument,we perform a comprehensive simulation study before its official operation is scheduled to start.By considering the impact of atmospheric extinction, weather conditions, and the lunar phase at the observing site involving the instrumental features,we simulate light curves of SNe Ia obtained by Mephisto. The best strategy in the case of SN Ia cosmology is to take the image at an exposure time of 130 s with a cadence of 3 days.In this condition,Mephisto can obtain hundreds of high-quality SNe Ia to achieve a distance measurement better than 4.5%.Given the on-time spectral classification and monitoring of the Lijiang 2.4 m Telescope at the same observatory,Mephisto,in the whole operation, can significantly enrich the well-calibrated sample of supernovae at low-z and improve the calibration accuracy of high-z SNe Ia. 展开更多
