China is a large, developing economy now entering the second half of the intermediate stage of industrialization. It is inadequate for China at this time to perceive industrial development as a part of its industrial strategy. Rather, industrial development should be discussed and developed using a wider lens, as part of state strategy and responding to national conditions. This paper argues that, for China to progress further, it must transition from being simply a large industrial country to being a true industrial power. The paper presents characteristics and indicators that describe the world's industrial powers. China should focus strategically on development via invigorating industry - this idea and its related objectives, key tasks, and policy directions make up the Industry-Invigorating-China Strategy. The author prediets that China will develop the basic qualities of an industrial power by 2020, and it will achieve full industrial power status by 2040. 展开更多

Socialist industrialization in a populous agrarian country like China is a complex, arduous, and long-term task.Under the leadership of the Communist Party of China(CPC),the Chinese people have initiated a new way of socialist industrialization suitable to China’s national conditions after assiduous efforts.Brilliant achievements of historic importance have been made in China’s industrial development. In just a few decades,China completed an industrialization process that took centuries in the developed world and established the world’s most complete modern industrial system, becoming the second-largest economy and the largest manufacturing nation in the world. This achievement is of great historic and worldwide significance.Over its centennial history,CPC has completed the historic task of opposing imperialism and feudalism during the New Democratic Revolution, which created political conditions essential for the nation’s socialist industrialization.During this socialist revolution and development, the CPC has led the nation to build complete industrial and economic systems. In the era of reform and opening up and socialist modernization, the CPC has led the nation to industrialize and become the equal of more advanced economies. In the new era of Chinese socialism, the CPC has led the nation to accomplish the goal of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects and pursuing high-quality industrial development.China’s industrial achievements can be attributed to the following factors:First, the CPC’s strong leadership, adherence to its founding aspiration and unwavering commitment to socialist industrialization;second, the application of the Marxist principles taking into account China’s actual conditions;third, proactively exploring and following the laws of industrialization for China as a large country and keeping industrial development in alignment with evolving conditions. 展开更多

The continuous rise in global environmental challenges has led to urgency toward establishing a secure framework to achieve sustainable development goals. This study establishes a novel theoretical framework to analyze the role of energy prices, energy consumption, gold prices and economic growth on environmental degradation in newly industrialized economies. To realize sustainable development goals and foster environmental defence, this study utilizes CS-ARDL as the main econometric approach to investigate the asymmetric association between environmental degradation and relevant factors. We also use AMG,CS-DL,Driscoll-Kray and FGLS to enhance the robustness of our findings. Our econometric approach reveals that energy resource prices and renewable energy consumption reduce environmental degradation, while gold prices and fossil energy consumption elevate environmental pollutants. We also confirm the existence of the EKC hypothesis. The findings of our extensive analysis paved the way for a welldesigned environmental policy for NIC economies should focus on renewable energy consumption, green investments, and structural changes. 展开更多

Although late Qing and Republican China failed to witness an enlightenment movement in the European sense, China did go through an enlightenment process of its own. Chinese mercantilism, in close association with industrialization and the rise of capitalism, constituted an intellectual movement that cannot be overlooked. The mercantile enlightenment expressed in mercantilism went through various evolutionary stages, from birth to development to maturation. In this process, the values and beliefs of China's feudal agrarian society were rejected and attacked and the new values championed by industrialists and merchants grew and spread. Although China's enlightenment movement had its limitations, it played an important role in promoting the country's transformation from an agrarian to an industrialized society and helped lay the foundation for China's modernization. It also has implications for the rebuilding of commericial morality in China. 展开更多
