Computer-based conceptual design for routine design has made great strides, yet non-routine design has not been given due attention, and it is still poorly automated. Considering that the function-behavior-structure(...Computer-based conceptual design for routine design has made great strides, yet non-routine design has not been given due attention, and it is still poorly automated. Considering that the function-behavior-structure(FBS) model is widely used for modeling the conceptual design process, a computer-based creativity enhanced conceptual design model(CECD) for non-routine design of mechanical systems is presented. In the model, the leaf functions in the FBS model are decomposed into and represented with fine-grain basic operation actions(BOA), and the corresponding BOA set in the function domain is then constructed. Choosing building blocks from the database, and expressing their multiple functions with BOAs, the BOA set in the structure domain is formed. Through rule-based dynamic partition of the BOA set in the function domain, many variants of regenerated functional schemes are generated. For enhancing the capability to introduce new design variables into the conceptual design process, and dig out more innovative physical structure schemes, the indirect function-structure matching strategy based on reconstructing the combined structure schemes is adopted. By adjusting the tightness of the partition rules and the granularity of the divided BOA subsets, and making full use of the main function and secondary functions of each basic structure in the process of reconstructing of the physical structures, new design variables and variants are introduced into the physical structure scheme reconstructing process, and a great number of simpler physical structure schemes to accomplish the overall function organically are figured out. The creativity enhanced conceptual design model presented has a dominant capability in introducing new deign variables in function domain and digging out simpler physical structures to accomplish the overall function, therefore it can be utilized to solve non-routine conceptual design problem.展开更多

Parenting attitude of youth fostering as an important factor can be effect on creativity, because youth are dependent to parents and they are as power recourse for youth. Youth are in interaction with parents and parents can be ready appropriate filed in home and family to efflorescence their youth’s creativity. The present study undertakes to provide a descriptive and correlative analysis on the relationship between youth fostering and student creativity. Parenting attitudes (including domination, high dependency, and negligence) and creativity (including fluency, originality, flexibility and elaboration) are taken as independent and dependent variables, respectively. To test the hypotheses, information collected from three questionnaires was analyzed: 1) multiple choice paper and pencil test for measuring Torrance creativity (1973), 2) parent attitude survey (PAS) of Drews and Teahen (1957), and 3) evaluation of students’ creativity by masters. Statistical population of the study includes all students of Urmia Medical Sciences University (209 males and 218 females) and their parents. Data analysis was performed by SPSS software using descriptive and inferential statistical methods. Results indicate no significant relationship between student creativity and parents attitude on youth fostering (r = 0.20) and parents put more emphasis on educational success than creativity. Also, female students had better performance than males in terms of creativity.展开更多

In order to realize autonomous moving and automatic weld seam tracking for welding robot in Tailed Welded Blanks, a creative design of robotic visual tracking system bused on CMOS has been developed by using the flowchart. The new system is not only used to inspect the workpiece ahead of a welding torch and measure the joint orientation and lateral deviation caused by curvature or discontinuity in the joint part, but also to record and measure the image size of the weld pool. Population of the study consisted of some public bodies, namely: General Inve...The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of leadership on job creativity in the public institutions of the state of Kuwait. Population of the study consisted of some public bodies, namely: General Investment Corporation, Kuwait Development Fund, Ministry of Planning, and Civil Service Department. There are 540 questionnaires distributed, 15 recovered, and 525 of the distributed questionnaires good for statistical analysis. Analysis of the data depended on descriptive statistical analysis, multi and simple regression. Following the hypotheses test by using the F-test, T-test, R2 coefficient and the One-Way variance analysis (ANOVA) test, the study reached the following results: There is a relation between leadership patterns and job creativity in the public institutions of the State of Kuwait. The relation is considered of medium strength, because r = 56.4% and this result matched the results of the previous studies that dealt with the same subject, which indicated that the leadership patterns affect the creative behavior in the organizations at different levels according to the prevalent pattern type. This enhances the logicality of the result, which means that the leadership patterns play a vital role in job creativity in various institutions. Results of the study showed that the democratic pattern is the most prevalent leadership pattern among managers, followed by the unrestrained pattern and finally the authoritarian pattern. Analysis results revealed that there is a weak relation between the authoritarian pattern and the job creativity in the public institutions of the State of Kuwait. The weakness of relation between the two variables can be interpreted in view of the fact that the increase of authoritarianism in leadership might give adverse results contrary to the expected and consequently, it is logical that the relation would be weak between the authoritative management approach and job creativity. There is a concern in providing work environment that encourages change in the public institutions of the State of Kuwait. Managers remarkably support the employees' efforts in performing the job. The study was concluded by the following recommendations: The effect of the leadership patterns on creative behavior was reached and therefore, the author recommended that it is necessary to choose well-qualified leadership that contributes to achieving excellence in the institutions operating in different sectors; to hold workshops, committees, seminars, and conferences in order to enhance confidence between management and employees; to concentrate on enhancing the democratic administrative pattern in the institutions due to its immense influence on the creative behavior of employees.展开更多

The initial hypothesis is that a typical entrepreneurial process carries with its "creativity-enabling elements". In a normal situation, businesses focus on optimizing their resources for commercial gains, thus perceptions about values of entrepreneurial creativity are usually vague. However, in difficult times, the difference between survival and failure may be creativity. This paper examines many previous findings on entrepreneurship and creativity, and suggests a highly possible "organic growth" of creativity in an entrepreneurial environment and reinforcing value of entrepreneurship when creativity power is present. In other words, the authors see each idea reinforcing the other. The authors survey Vietnamese firms during the chaotic year of 2012 to learn about the "entrepreneurship-creativity nexus", looking at influential cultural values, namely risk tolerance, relationship, and dependence on resources--to assess how they influence entrepreneurial decisions. A set of 137 qualified responses was obtained for this statistical examination. A categorical data analysis is performed to confirm that creativity and entrepreneurial spirit could hardly be separate, for both entrepreneurial and accomplished companies. Although the most important factor during implementation is still "relationship", business people are increasingly aware of the need of creativity/innovation in troubled times.展开更多

Innovation and progress of human civilization result from a change in our thinking patterns, thus, potentially transforming the present into a creative future. Accentuating the role of creativity in design even more than other disciplines pushes one to underpin the understanding of creativity as a key role player in architecture. Furthermore, by identifying the basic principles of our ingenuity/creativity, researchers might be able to enhance this ability in the future. A key point in "creativity" is the role of previously gained experiences, which cause expanding the inventory of experiences. According to accepted def'mition in different disciplines, creativity is no more than new combinations of previous ideas. The paper explores different effectual parameters correlated with creativity in architectural design including notion of conceptual blending, improbabilist and impossibilist creativity, tolerance of ambiguity and its correlation with creativity and creativity aided tools and interfaces. At the end, we suggest necessary experiments to obtain empirical results for some speculations that are discussed in the paper. Also, practical approaches will be suggested to apply the results in pedagogy of architecture.展开更多

Imitation serves to guide and teach the artist in composing and creating perfection. Vasari maintains that artists must study antiquity and the masters, so that they may learn how others acquired the experience of imitating nature. For Vasari, imitation draws upon three different sources: the first two are copying from nature (copia dal vero) and the third one is selecting from one’s work (imitare se stessi). The data were collected from the series of four lessons in the fifth grade by teaching experiment methodology conducted following the professional development project implemented lesson study and open approach in Thailand. The results show that extension and integration sequence is an appropriate subject matter to generate lesson for problem-solving classroom. The sequence of lesson leads students to excitement, curiosity, confidence and intimacy in mathematics that are powerful effects of mathematical creativity. Students can produce the different and various ways to solve problems that indicate their divergent thinking.展开更多
capacity and creativity tendencies among Chinese baccalaureate nursing students.Design:Cross-sectional study design.Methods:A convenient sample of 445 baccalaureate nursing students were surveyed in two universities i...capacity and creativity tendencies among Chinese baccalaureate nursing students.Design:Cross-sectional study design.Methods:A convenient sample of 445 baccalaureate nursing students were surveyed in two universities in Tianjin,China.Students completed a questionnaire that included their demographic information,Achievement Motivation Scale,Meta-Learning Capacity Questionnaire,and Creativity Tendencies Scale.Pearson correlation was performed to test the correlation among achievement motivation,meta-learning capacity and creativity tendencies.Hierarchical linear regression analyses were performed to explore the mediating role of meta-learning capacity.Results:The participants had moderate levels of achievement motivation(mean score 2.383±0.240)and meta-learning capacity(mean score 1.505±0.241)and a medium-high level of creativity tendency(mean score 1.841±0.288).Creativity tendencies was significantly associated with both achievement motivation and meta-learning capacity(both P<0.01).Furthermore,meta-learning capacity mediated the relationship between achievement motivation and high creativity tendencies.Conclusion:The study hypotheses were supported.Higher achievement motivation,and meta-learning capacity can increase creativity tendencies of baccalaureate nursing students,and meta-learning capacity was found to mediate the relationship between achievement motivation and creativity tendencies.Nursing educators should pay attention to the positive role of meta-learning capacity in nursing students’learning,and make them more confident when they finish their studies.展开更多

The...The present study aimed to examine the relationship of emotional intelligence and creativity with academic achievement of second period high school students in Nikshahr. This was a descriptive-correlational study. The population of the current study included all second period high school students in the academic year of 2013-2014. The statistical sample was selected using simple random sampling method. To collect data, Mayer Salovey Caruso Emotional Intelligence Test (1995) as well as Creativity Questionnaire (Sultani) and to compare students’ academic achievements, their GPAs in the academic year of 2013-2014 were used. Obtained data were analyzed using both descriptive (frequency table, frequency, and charts) and inferential statistics (independent t-test and Pearson correlation coefficient). The results indicated that emotional intelligence and academic achievement were significantly correlated. Moreover, there was a significant and positive relationship between creativity and academic achievement. Additionally, no significant difference was found between males and females considering their academic achievement.展开更多

The authors survey Vietnamese firms during the chaotic year of 2012 to learn about the "entrepreneurship-creativity nexus", looking at influential cultural values, namely risk tolerance, relationship, and dependence on resources--to assess how they influence entrepreneurial decisions. A set of 137 qualified responses was obtained for this statistical examination. A categorical data analysis is performed to confirm that creativity and entrepreneurial spirit could hardly be separate, for both entrepreneurial and accomplished companies. Although the most important factor during implementation is still "relationship", business people are increasingly aware of the need of creativity/innovation in troubled times.
文摘Human civilization can be ameliorated by human creativity. Innovation and progress of human civilization result from a change in our thinking patterns, thus, potentially transforming the present into a creative future. Accentuating the role of creativity in design even more than other disciplines pushes one to underpin the understanding of creativity as a key role player in architecture. Furthermore, by identifying the basic principles of our ingenuity/creativity, researchers might be able to enhance this ability in the future. A key point in "creativity" is the role of previously gained experiences, which cause expanding the inventory of experiences. According to accepted def'mition in different disciplines, creativity is no more than new combinations of previous ideas. The paper explores different effectual parameters correlated with creativity in architectural design including notion of conceptual blending, improbabilist and impossibilist creativity, tolerance of ambiguity and its correlation with creativity and creativity aided tools and interfaces. At the end, we suggest necessary experiments to obtain empirical results for some speculations that are discussed in the paper. Also, practical approaches will be suggested to apply the results in pedagogy of architecture.

文摘Giorgio Vasari’s conception of artistic creativity is related to his theory of painting. He proposes two alternatives in a painter’s development or achievement of artistic creativity: imitation (imitazione) and invention (invenzione).Imitation is the copying of art as a method of learning, whereas invention is independent of imitation and constitutes the means for conceiving artistic ideas. Imitation serves to guide and teach the artist in composing and creating perfection. Vasari maintains that artists must study antiquity and the masters, so that they may learn how others acquired the experience of imitating nature. For Vasari, imitation draws upon three different sources: the first two are copying from nature (copia dal vero) and the third one is selecting from one’s work (imitare se stessi). He emphasizes that copying from nature is important for the artist so that he may learn to create forms that are alive as visualized in the Fine Arts.
文摘This study compares the subject matter appeared on traditional Thai textbooks and Japanese textbooks and analyzes how extension and integration sequence on Japanese textbooks evokes students' mathematical creativity. The data were collected from the series of four lessons in the fifth grade by teaching experiment methodology conducted following the professional development project implemented lesson study and open approach in Thailand. The results show that extension and integration sequence is an appropriate subject matter to generate lesson for problem-solving classroom. The sequence of lesson leads students to excitement, curiosity, confidence and intimacy in mathematics that are powerful effects of mathematical creativity. Students can produce the different and various ways to solve problems that indicate their divergent thinking.
文摘capacity and creativity tendencies among Chinese baccalaureate nursing students.Design:Cross-sectional study design.Methods:A convenient sample of 445 baccalaureate nursing students were surveyed in two universities in Tianjin,China.Students completed a questionnaire that included their demographic information,Achievement Motivation Scale,Meta-Learning Capacity Questionnaire,and Creativity Tendencies Scale.Pearson correlation was performed to test the correlation among achievement motivation,meta-learning capacity and creativity tendencies.Hierarchical linear regression analyses were performed to explore the mediating role of meta-learning capacity.Results:The participants had moderate levels of achievement motivation(mean score 2.383±0.240)and meta-learning capacity(mean score 1.505±0.241)and a medium-high level of creativity tendency(mean score 1.841±0.288).Creativity tendencies was significantly associated with both achievement motivation and meta-learning capacity(both P<0.01).Furthermore,meta-learning capacity mediated the relationship between achievement motivation and high creativity tendencies.Conclusion:The study hypotheses were supported.Higher achievement motivation,and meta-learning capacity can increase creativity tendencies of baccalaureate nursing students,and meta-learning capacity was found to mediate the relationship between achievement motivation and creativity tendencies.Nursing educators should pay attention to the positive role of meta-learning capacity in nursing students’learning,and make them more confident when they finish their studies.

文摘Creativity is an element of the personality of entrepreneurs which can be important for the foundation, advance, and business performance of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Intrapreneurship can be developed in small and medium-sized enterprises where entrepreneurs have a sufficient level of creativity and it can influence the growth of enterprises. Hypotheses are specified and empirically tested based on responses to a structured questionnaire on a sample of small and medium-sized enterprises from China. The research results indicate positive relationships between the creativity of the entrepreneur and intrapreneurship and growth of the enterprise.
文摘Through the Sequential Mixed Methods Approach, 24 final year power engineering students underwent 12 learnshops on creativity and entrepreneurship with an attempt to foster creativity and entrepreneurial self-efficacy among them. Pre- and post-test on creativity using Torrance's Test of Creativity (TTCT) and Entrepreneurial Self-efficacy questionnaires were used to determine the level of both creativity and entrepreneurial self-efficacy The findings of the study show that a significant leap in how teaching and learning takes place is necessary if we are to properly prepare students for the 21st century knowledge economy and that active participation, confidence and ideas generation taking place under teamwork and informal settings are a way forward and to harness the two constructs.
文摘The present study aimed to examine the relationship of emotional intelligence and creativity with academic achievement of second period high school students in Nikshahr. This was a descriptive-correlational study. The population of the current study included all second period high school students in the academic year of 2013-2014. The statistical sample was selected using simple random sampling method. To collect data, Mayer Salovey Caruso Emotional Intelligence Test (1995) as well as Creativity Questionnaire (Sultani) and to compare students’ academic achievements, their GPAs in the academic year of 2013-2014 were used. Obtained data were analyzed using both descriptive (frequency table, frequency, and charts) and inferential statistics (independent t-test and Pearson correlation coefficient). The results indicated that emotional intelligence and academic achievement were significantly correlated. Moreover, there was a significant and positive relationship between creativity and academic achievement. Additionally, no significant difference was found between males and females considering their academic achievement.
