In the present work, an effective method to calculate the EIE cross sections of an atom/ion in the whole energy region is presented. We use the EIE cross sections of helium as an illustration example. The optical forbidden 1^(1)S–n^(1)S(n = 2–4) and optical allowed 1^(1)S–n^(1)P(n = 2–4) excitation cross sections are calculated in the whole energy region using the scheme that combines the partial wave R-matrix method and the first Born approximation. The calculated cross sections are in good agreement with the available experimental measurements. Based on these accurate cross sections of our calculation, we find that the ratios between the accurate cross sections and Born cross sections are nearly the same for different excitation final states in the same channel. According to this interesting property, a universal correction function is proposed and given to calculate the accurate EIE cross sections with the same computational efforts of the widely used Born cross sections, which should be very useful in the related application fields. For many reasons, these tunnels have horseshoe-shaped cross-sections with round top and flat bottom. This paper presents some improvements to the use of the Hyperstatic Reaction Method-HRM for analysing tunnels with horseshoe-shaped cross-sections when these tunnels operate under the influence of earthquakes, particularly in cases when the tunnel lining is a continuous lining. The analysis used parameters of a tunnel from the Hanoi metro system, as well as parameters of the strongest earthquake that may occur in the central Hanoi area in the improved HRM and 2 D numerical methods using the ABAQUS software. The adiabatic potentials and radial coupling matrix elements utilized in the QMOCC calculations are obtained with the spin-coupled valence-bond approach. Electronic and vibrational state-selective differential cross sections are presented for projectile energies of 0.1, 1.0 and 10.0eV/u in the H2 orientation angles of 45° and 89°. The electronic and the vibrational state-selective differential cross sections show similar behaviours: they decrease as the scattering angle increases, and beyond a specific angle the oscillating structures appear. Moreover, it is also found that the vibrational state-selective differential cross sections are strongly orientation-dependent, which provides a possibility to determine the orientations of molecule H2 by identifying the vibrational state-selective differential scattering processes.展开更多

The calculated DCSs for these three initial states are strongly backward peaked at low collision energies. With the increase of collision energy, these DCSs become increasingly broader with the peak position shifting gradually to a smaller angle, consistent with the fact that the title reaction is a direct reaction via an abstraction mechanism. It is found that the (100) and (001) states not only have roughly the same integral cross sections, but also have essentially identical DCS, which are very close to that for the ground state at the same total energy of reaction. The reaction produces a small fraction of OD in the v=1 state, with the population close to the relative reactivity between the ground and vibrationally excited states, therefore confirming the experimental result of Zare et al. and the local mode picture [J. Phys. Chem. 97, 2204 (1993)]. Unexpectedly, the stretching excitation reduces the rotation excitation of product HD at the same total energy.展开更多

Thin films with thick carbon substrates are used in the experiment. The effects of target structure on the Mαβ X-ray production cross sections are corrected by using the Monte Carlo method. The corrected experimental data are compared with calculated cross sections in terms of the distorted-wave Born approximation(DWBA) theory. The measured Mαβ X-ray production cross sections for Pb and Bi are lower than the DWBA calculations. The atomic relaxation parameters used in comparing the DWBA values with experimental results affect the degree of difference.展开更多

文摘The time-dependent wave-packet method was employed to calculate the first full-dimensional state-to-state differential cross sections (DCS) for the title reaction with D2O in the ground and the first symmetric (100) and asymmetric stretching (001) excited states. Unexpectedly, the stretching excitation reduces the rotation excitation of product HD at the same total energy.

文摘The experimental data of Mαβ X-ray production cross sections for Pb and Bi by 9–40 keV electron impact have been given. The atomic relaxation parameters used in comparing the DWBA values with experimental results affect the degree of difference.
