The evolutions of the magnetic domain morphology are studied, and our analyses show that the magnetization reversal process is affected by the interaction between the moving domain wall and the existing nonmagnetic particles. This interaction strongly depends on the size of the particles, and it is found that particles with a particular size contribute the most to magnetic hardening.展开更多

With the higher proportion of fine crystals in the desulfurization slurry, the number concentration of fine particles after desulfurization was increased and their particle sizes were smaller, indicating that the optimization of gypsum crystallization was beneficial for the reduction of the fine particle emission. The lower p H value and an optimal temperature of the desulfurization slurry were beneficial to restrain the generation of fine crystals in the desulfurization slurry. In addition, the higher concentrations of the Fe3+ions and the F- ions in the desulfurization slurry both promoted the generation of fine crystals with corresponding change of the morphology and the effect of the Fe3+ ions was more obvious. With the application of the desulfurization synergist additive,it was beneficial for the inhibition of fine crystals while the thinner crystals were generated.展开更多

The crystal structure of the powder samples was determined by powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), which was complemented by pho- toluminescence (PL) measurements. Single particle crystal structure was determined by single particle selected area electron diffraction (SAED), and for the first time, by electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD). H2/air flames resulted in cubic phase Y2O3:Eu particles with hollow morphology and irregular shapes, Particles from H2/O2 flames had dense and spherical morphology; samples with lower Eu doping concen- trations had mixed cubic/monoclinic phases; samples with the highest Eu doping concentrations were phase-pure monoclinic. For samples generated from H2/02 flames, a particle size effect and its interaction with Eu doping concentration were found: particles smaller than a critical diameter had the monoclinic phase, and this critical diameter increased with increasing Eu doping concentration, These findings suggest that the formation of monoclinic Y2O3:Eu is inevitable when extremely hot substrate-free flames are used, because typical flame-synthesized Y203 :Eu particle sizes are well below the critical diameter, However, it may be possible to generate particles with dense, spherical morphology and the desired cubic structure by using a moderately high flame temperature that enables fast sintering without melting the particles.展开更多

Caking of trisodium phosphate during the drying process under static conditions is a two-step process: adhesion followed by crystal bridge formation between particles. The adhesion free energy plays an important role in adhesion. Trisodium phosphate particles cannot adhere to each other and cake when the adhesion free energy is greater than a critical value, which varies with particle shape. Compared with granular particles, cylindrical particles have larger contact area between particles, which results in more crystal bridges forming and a higher caking ratio. Thus, the critical value is about 100 mJ/m^2 for cylindrical particles, but 60 mJ/m^2 for granular particles at 25 ℃. Concerning the solubility, when particles are similar shapes and soluble in the rinsing liquid, the caking ratio has a linear relationship with adhesion free energy. However, if the particles are insoluble in the rinsing liquid, caking can be completely prevented regardless of adhesion free energy because no crystal bridges form during the growth process. Hence, caking of trisodium phosphate particles could be inhibited by screening rinsing liquids, and optimizing the particle shape and size distribution.展开更多
