Natural Disaster Risk Monitoring for Immovable Cultural Relics Based on Digital Twin

Natural disaster risk monitoring is an important task for disaster prevention and reduction.In the case of immovable cultural relics,however,the feedback mechanism,risk factors,monitoring logic,and monitoring indicators of natural disaster risk monitoring are complex.How to achieve intelligent perception and monitoring of natural disaster risk for immovable cultural relics has always been a focus and a challenge for researchers.Based on the analysis of the concepts and issues related to the natural disaster risk of immovable cultural relics,this paper proposes a framework for natural disaster risk monitoring for immovable cultural relics based on the digital twin.This framework focuses on risk monitoring,including the physical entities of natural disaster risk for immovable cultural relics,monitoring indicators,and virtual entity construction.A platform for monitoring the natural disaster risk of immovable cultural relics is proposed.Using the Puzhou Ancient City Site as a test bed,the proposed concept can be used for monitoring the natural disaster risk of immovable cultural relics at different scales.

Automatic Extraction Method of 3D Feature Guidelines for Complex Cultural Relic Surfaces Based on Point Cloud

Cultural relics line graphic serves as a crucial form of traditional artifact information documentation,which is a simple and intuitive product with low cost of displaying compared with 3D models.Dimensionality reduction is undoubtedly necessary for line drawings.However,most existing methods for artifact drawing rely on the principles of orthographic projection that always cannot avoid angle occlusion and data overlapping while the surface of cultural relics is complex.Therefore,conformal mapping was introduced as a dimensionality reduction way to compensate for the limitation of orthographic projection.Based on the given criteria for assessing surface complexity,this paper proposed a three-dimensional feature guideline extraction method for complex cultural relic surfaces.A 2D and 3D combined factor that measured the importance of points on describing surface features,vertex weight,was designed.Then the selection threshold for feature guideline extraction was determined based on the differences between vertex weight and shape index distributions.The feasibility and stability were verified through experiments conducted on real cultural relic surface data.Results demonstrated the ability of the method to address the challenges associated with the automatic generation of line drawings for complex surfaces.The extraction method and the obtained results will be useful for line graphic drawing,displaying and propaganda of cultural relics.

Between the City and Images:An Analysis of Mainstream Media’s Paths of Constructing the Cultural Memory of a City:Taking Chengdu Radio and Television’s“Hi Chengdu”as an Example

Mainstream media play a crucial role in constructing the cultural memory of a city.This study used 319 short videos released by“Hi Chengdu,”a new media product of Chengdu Radio and Television,as samples.Based on the grounded theory,a research framework encompassing“content,technology,and discourse”was established to explore the paths through which mainstream media construct the cultural memory.Regarding content,this paper emphasized temporal and spatial contexts and urban spaces,delving deep into the themes of the cultural memory and vehicles for it.In terms of technology,this paper discussed the practice of leveraging audio/visual-mode discourse to stitch together the impressions of a city and evoke emotional resonance to create a“flow”of memory.As for discourse,this paper looked at the performance of a communication ritual to frame concepts and shape urban identity.It is essential to break free from conventional thinking and leverage local culture as the primary driving force to further boost a city’s productivity,in order to excel in cultural communication.

Analysis of the Pacific Rim Austronesian Marine Civilization from a Cultural Exchange Perspective

Austronesian is the only large language family in the Pacific Rim Islands in the world.Its cultural continuity,which spans thousands of years,has attracted multi-disciplinary attention,thus becoming a major issue in exploration of the origin and development of human civilization.This paper shows that the Austronesians have utilized the human media identity of"nature users"to deal with maritime history and culture.In an""oral memory,"Austronesian people have turned the laws of nature into a visual memory language similar to that in comic books,thus giving myths,legends,and rituals"humanized and expanded media contents."Their marine civilization developed in the course of socialization and features belief in and respect for nature.This process is a model of the continuity of a human civilization characterized by"human-nature interaction."The marine civilization originating in the southeast coast of China is the foundation of the long history of Chinese civilization.This fine traditional Chinese culture that"complies with nature"presents the wisdom of China's healthy development and integration with the world.

Investigating the Creation of Cultural Atmospheres in Physical Bookstores Within the Context of Scene-Based Consumption:A Perspective Based on the Ways of Seeing

In an era of scene-based consumption,the essence of operating a bookstore lies in accepting and enabling the bookstore to play its role as a cultural medium for browsing and appreciating books,which in turn fosters the development of a distinctive bookstore culture.This new type of consumption context has led to an evolution in the book-reading culture in physical bookstores that is characterized by a shift from a paradigm of passive reading to one where the emphasis is on interactive viewing.This transition has laid the foundation for the creation of cultural atmospheres in bookstores,and it highlights the visual interactions that now exist between readers and books as well as with other related cultural industries.The dominant and fundamental logic behind this process is symbiosis,experience,aesthetics,immersion,and creativity.However,when a form of culture that focuses on consumption-oriented browsing begins to overshadow knowledge acquisition during the process of book reading,the cultural essence of bookstores is likely to be diminished.Therefore,the cultural essence within the scene-based consumption context should be enhanced by creating innovative viewing activities that showcase the cultural and emotional implications inherent in the scene itself,and thus help to align the identity of the bookstore with its in-situ cultural space.

Cultural Exclusion and the Transformation of the Cultural Landscape: The Origins of Anti-Chinese Racism in Canada

Anti-Chinese racism in Canada is a social structure of racialized exclusion that over time came to be built into the settler colonialism that continues to shape the country.Colonizers of European,and especially of British and French origins,have consequently created the cultural landscapes that constitute the country(i.e.,its material constructions and dominant cultural overlays).When read against these landscapes,people of Chinese origins and members of other racialized groups continue to be positioned as aliens who do not belong in the country in way in which people racialized as white are not.Focusing on British Columbia(BC),Canada's westernmost province,and the historical activity of people of Chinese origins,this paper traces the history of anti-Chinese racism and its links to Anglo-Canadian settler colonialism.Canada has long been linked to China,and the Chinese entered BC at the same time as Europeans before the country existed.Despite this,Chinese people have repeatedly been positioned as threats to Anglo-Canadian dominance,and especially to control over the land and its resources.Chinese Canadian resistance to racist exclusions,along with that of other groups,has led to the elimination of legislated exclusions.However,historic exclusions continue to shape cultural landscapes and popular understandings of who belongs and who does not.Remaking these landscapes requires an antiracist project of pursuing common projects that cross over racialized differences to remake the territory in ways that affirm the presence of all the peoples of Canada.

Analysis of the Reform of Ideological and Political Education in College English Curriculum from the Perspective of“Cultural Confidence”

With the rapid development of the education industry,higher requirements have been put forward for college English education and teaching,accelerating the pace of college English reform.Issues such as how to integrate knowledge transmission,language expression skill improvement,cultural element extraction,and ideological and political education,and present the role of curriculum education function have attracted attention.In the era of informatization,college students’thinking has undergone certain changes and gradually developed towards diversification.Therefore,universities should start from the perspective of cultural confidence,extract valuable ideological and political elements,and explore effective tourism ideological and political teaching methods.While helping college students enhance their cultural confidence,it is also beneficial for them to better inherit traditional Chinese culture.This article conducts an in-depth exploration of ideological and political education in college English courses from the perspective of“cultural confidence”and uses scientific and effective measures to solve the problems encountered,aiming to provide valuable guidelines for relevant researchers.

Implementation of an international medical student pen-pal club:survey outcomes of perceptions in cultural competency and global health

Background:Pen-pal clubs(PPC)are used worldwide for students to learn about different cultures and other skillsets without the need for travel.Many medical students are interested in global health opportunities abroad but costs,scheduling,and other barriers allow few to participate in such experiences.It is important that medical students have nuanced global medical perspectives and can contribute to the global medical community.Objective:The purpose of this study is to demonstrate that an international medical student PPC improves medical students'perspectives of cultural competency and global health engagement.Methods:In 2021,a novel medical student PPC was established that began between an American and Japanese medical school.Following a shareholders meeting,it was decided that the number of medical schools involved globally be expanded through previous institutional affiliations and online presences.In total,the club connected 50 American medical students and 52 medical students from 17 high-and middle-income countries.The primary form of communication was online;pen-pals were encouraged to communicate monthly using provided topics,although frequency and way of communication was their discretion.In February 2022,American PPC members were emailed a qualitative survey to assess the PPC's impact.Results:The survey was completed by 42%of American PPC members,95%of which were 22-26 years.Participants were preclinical medical students,60%whom were female and the majority either white(47%)or Asian(43%).Overall,the PPC positively influenced American medical students'perception of global medicine,medical education,and their cultural competency after joining the PPC compared to prior(P=0.004).Conclusion:PPCs encourage medical students to think from a global perspective and foster open-mindedness within varying social and cultural contexts.Having a global communication platform for students during medical school education may be an additional way to train aspiring global leaders.

China’s domestic animation industry is deeply rooted in its rich traditional cultural heritage.While continuously exploring and showcasing the unique charm of such cultural heritage through storytelling,imagery establishment,and spirit creation,Chinese animation also seamlessly integrates modern aesthetic characteristics and cultural values into its development within the context of the new era.By adopting a contemporary perspective,it innovatively expresses the essence of traditional culture while striving to shape and present a reliable,admirable and respectable image of China.Chinese animation aims to create credible contemporary animation images by drawing inspiration from traditional Chinese cultural archetypes.It also seeks to revitalize admirable traditional cultural imagery using vibrant and prevailing ACGN visuals,while shaping credible characters with richer cultural connotations and crafting stories with more enchanting plots to convey the spiritual essence of the Chinese nation.By establishing reliable,admirable and respectable animation images,the Chinese animation industry strives to enhance its capability to“tell China’s stories well and make the voice of China heard,”to better promote the image of China in the new era from a global perspective.

Tourism-Oriented Cultural Product Design: A Case Study of Yami Culture in Lanyu

Due to the prevalence of modern commerce and mainstream culture, many indigenous cultures around the world are rapidly diminishing. These cultures, with their unique primitiveness distinct from modern culture, often attract tourists. This study integrates the indigenous Yami culture of Lanyu Island, Taiwan Region, into innovative designs from the perspective of tourists’ understanding of the local culture. In this way, tourists can experience the harmonious coexistence of the Yami tribe and nature, while these culturally rich products foster deeper experiential and emotional resonance. This study employs the Mandala thinking method for concept expansion and the Osborn checklist method for the analysis and transformation of design elements. Subsequently, designers were invited to conduct on-site travel experiences, leading to the creation of a series of Yami cultural products. Through the evaluation and validation of cultural product assessment indicators, functional commercialized products were ultimately produced. This study aims to establish a design process for cultural products through this design case. It seeks to help users recall their Lanyu Island travel experiences and appreciate the often-overlooked cultural beauty, thereby raising awareness of cultural preservation.

This study introduces the individualism-collectivism dimension of the cultural dimension of cross-cultural communication initiated by Geert Hofstede.Different cultures must develop a way of correlating that strikes a balance between caring for themselves and showing concern for others.Individualist culture encourages uniqueness and independence while collectivist culture emphasizes conformity and mutual assistance.This article introduces how to use case analysis method to effectively carry out classroom teaching in this cultural dimension.

Urban development should rely on the form of architecture,and incorporating urban planning concepts into architectural design can better assist urban construction.Taking the design of Incheon Geomdan Cultural Complex in South Korea as an example,this paper analyzes how to reflect urban planning elements in architectural design,and studies the role and value of cultural complex architecture in urban development from multiple perspectives such as culture,ecological environment,and public space.It hopes to gain more research and design ideas to promote the development of cultural industries in the region,leverage the advantages of regional cultural formats,and create new cultural settlements in cities.

The effect of"rural cultural auditorium"on the revitalization of rural culture:A case study of villages A and B in Zhejiang Province

The construction of rural cultural auditorium is conducive to gathering local popularity,excavating history and continuing civilization,and it has become a powerful driving force for cultural revitalization in rural revitalization.However,the development of"Rural Cultural Auditorium"encountered many problems so far.From the perspective of rural cultural revitalization,and under the background of the new socialist rural cultural construction in China,this paper takes the rural cultural auditorium as the topic.The field questionnaire survey and semi-structured interview were constructed in Village A and Village B of Zhejiang Province,.SPSS software is used to analyze the collected questionnaire data.On the basis of combing related concepts and theories,it summs up the problems of"rural cultural auditorium",such as the existence of cultural auditorium,low participation rate of cultural auditorium activities,poor information communication,etc.Through visiting and investigating,going deep into the local area,according solutions are put forward such as increasing content diversity,paying attention to publicity and increasing interaction,so as to promote the healthy and sustainable development of rural cultural auditorium.It is hoped that this paper will explore the significance of the construction of rural cultural auditorium to the revitalization of rural culture in China,and put forward ideas on how to further build rural cultural auditorium,so as to provide reference for rural cultural construction services.

The Multiple Cultural Origins of Contemporary Chinese Volunteer Spirit:A Life History Study

Community volunteers occupy a unique position,being at the margins of institutional systems but central to public life in communities.They play a crucial role in forming and maintaining primary-level social order.Through life history interviews that explore the spiritual world of community volunteers,this study proposes a typology of community actors:enthusiasts,devotees,the dissatisfied,and neutrals.The first two types broadly constitute what can be termed"community volunteers."Analyzing the multiple cultural origins that give rise to proactive community actors reveals that the interplay of familial,individual,and danwei(work unit)consciousness is the fundamental driving force behind their engagement in public life.Actors carry the cultural weight of multiple contexts through their life practice,with community an intermediary structure between family and state.This exploration provides a new framework for understanding contemporary Chinese urban community volunteers and community governance,uncovering the consciousness and emotional structures embedded in individual actors by macro-social transformation and highlighting a historical path of primary-level governance modernization in China that is distinct from that of the West.

From the perspective of endogenous development concept,Dujiazhuang Village,Mentougou was taken as an example to explore the development of rural cultural tourism space.The rural tourism resources in the west of Beijing are rich in type and numerous,but the development of cultural tourism is unbalanced and inadequate.Guided by the endogenousconcept and driven by the design of cultural tourism space,rural public space should be as the entry point to integrate the elements of rural resources and create a design that stimulates the endogenous ability of villagers.Culture can promote tourism,and industry can drive the economy to increase income and enhance the villagers'cultural identity.

Mechanism of Tourists’Happiness in Traditional Village Tourism: A Perspective Grounded in Nostalgia and Cultural Attachment

In recent years,traditional villages have emerged as popular tourist destinations due to their distinctive resource value.Typically situated in remote and less developed areas,traditional villages boast primitive natural surroundings and rich historical and cultural heritage.These characteristics offer urban dwellers a temporary escape from the complexities of modern life,allowing them to experience physical and mental rejuvenation,mental relaxation,and overall happiness during their visit.By conducting a review of the existing literature concerning tourists’happiness in traditional villages,this study establishes a framework to understand tourists’happiness in traditional village tourism.Using the Qiangang ancient village in Conghua District,Guangzhou as a case study,the research examines the current state of rural characteristics,the establishment of cultural brands,and the promotion of the active utilization of ancient villages within the context of integrating culture,sports,tourism,and agriculture.Based on this analysis,the author proposes strategies to enhance tourists’happiness,including the preservation and development of rural characteristics,the promotion and preservation of local cultural attributes,and the collaborative advancement of culture,sports,tourism,and agriculture to engage key stakeholders actively.
