Neutral Territory:Cultural Space in Hawthorne’s Travel Writing

The emphasis on the combination of physical space and metaphorical space is a major feature of Hawthorne’s narrative.This paper analyzes cultural space in Hawthorne’s travel writing,centering on his works The Old Manse and The Marble Faun from the perspective of neutral territory.The old manse and Rome carry different cultural metaphors,each reflecting a complex and subtle narrative space.Individually,Hawthorne transforms the old manse into Thoreauesque cabin,where American is affected by“sleepiness”and gains spiritual healing.At the national level,Hawthorne creates an allegorical Italy as borderland to explore the existence of American civilization.

Cultural Space Expression of Historical Block Based on Tourism Experience

Cultural space is the core space in the historical block,and is the main place to express the culture of the historical block,and the appropriate and reasonable degree of situational expression of cultural space is related to the quality of tourist experience.In this paper,the cultural space in the historical block is divided into two categories:historical and cultural allusions,humanistic life.From visitors’tourism expect and tourist experience quality,the importance of situational expression of cultural space in the historical block is put forward.Through the contrast on current situation of expression of two kinds of cultural space,expression manner of historical and cultural allusions type of culture space based on tourism experience is studied.

Research on the Design of Rural Cultural Tourism Space under the Background of Rural Revitalization: A Case Study of Dujiazhuang Village, Mentougou, Beijing

From the perspective of endogenous development concept,Dujiazhuang Village,Mentougou was taken as an example to explore the development of rural cultural tourism space.The rural tourism resources in the west of Beijing are rich in type and numerous,but the development of cultural tourism is unbalanced and inadequate.Guided by the endogenousconcept and driven by the design of cultural tourism space,rural public space should be as the entry point to integrate the elements of rural resources and create a design that stimulates the endogenous ability of villagers.Culture can promote tourism,and industry can drive the economy to increase income and enhance the villagers'cultural identity.

Design of Cultural Experience Space From the Perspective of Ecological Aesthetics:A Case Study of Aixi Lake Beauty·Library

Ecological aesthetics is the organic combination of ecology and aesthetics.It is the mainstream and basic form of aesthetics to integrate the ecological concepts of balance,system and entirety into the study of aesthetics.Cultural experience space is a new reading space with the characteristics of public cultural services.In this paper,Aixi Lake Beauty·Library is taken as research object,to analyze its design connotation and public effect from the perspective of ecological aesthetics.The research aims to explore a feasible way for the construction of urban cultural experience space.

Construction of Chaoshan Cuisine Culture Space

Chaoshan cuisine originates from the unique Chaoshan regional culture and has undergonethousands of years of sedimentation and development. Chaoshan cuisine has a wide range of ingredients,exquisite materials, emphasis on knife cutting, and a focus on freshness. It emphasizes the original taste anda clear and mellow taste, which is extremely characterized by Lingnan culture. In this paper, research dataare collected from social media and online comments, supplemented by targeted interviews, questionnaires,and other methods. It uses grounded theory for data analysis. Through the induction and summary ofopen coding, axial coding, and selective coding based on grounded theory, it summarizes the physical space,cultural space, spiritual cultural space, and communication space of Chaoshan cuisine culture.

Transformation of Industrial Heritage from the Perspective of Urban Memory:A Case Study of Taoxichuan Creative Square

Urban memory is the soul of a city. With the rapid development of the city, the phenomena of“large-scale demolition and construction” and “a thousand cities having the same pattern” are becoming more and more serious, and the urban characteristics containing rich historical information are gradually lost. As an important witness of the historical development of urban industry, industrial heritage contains precious historical and cultural values. Starting urban memory, and taking Taoxichuan Square as the example,through field research and memory interview, the continuation manner of urban memory in industrial heritage space is studied, and the transformation strategy of industrial heritage is put forward from the perspective of urban memory, making industrial heritage have a unique life cycle and cultural precipitation,inherit the urban context and promote the harmonious development of society.

Modern Significance of Chinese Urban Planning Traditions

China has an outstanding urban planning tradition, which lays down the historical foundation for a theoretical planning system with Chinese characteristics. Thus, revealing the significance of the Chinese urban planning tradition in a modern context becomes the key link. Based on the historical experience of Chinese urban planning, this paper attempts to reveal the significance of traditional Chinese urban planning in a modern context from four aspects: urban planning integrated with the natural landscape, urban humanistic and cultural space planning, urban heritage conservation and culture inheritance, and urban planning during an economically prosperous period. Traditional Chinese urban planning emphasizes the integration between city and natural landscape and is good at setting up a baseline of urban order based on the ingenuity of landscape. Moreover, Chinese urban planning focuses on the design of humanistic and cultural space structures as well as the role of urban planning in the cohesion of "the will of the people," inspiration of cultural pursuit, and historical spirit inheritance. Besides, Chinese planning tradition pays attention to the transformation of urban space through economic development and emphasizes the fundamental principle that new space should adhere to the original spatial order.
