The non-target language environment is easier to cause the affective change of middle school students who are changeable in their affective state. Based on the affective filter hypothesis, this paper deals with the adjustment to affective factors in English learning by using Internet English Curriculum Resource, such as attitude and motivation, anxiety and inhibition, self-esteem and self-confidence. Objective:The integration of training in theory and practice across the medical education spectrum is being encouraged to increase student understanding and skills in the sciences.This study aimed to determine the deciding factors that drive students'perceived advantages in class to improve precision education and the teaching model.Methods:A mixed strategy of an existing flipped classroom(FC)and a case-based learning(CBL)model was conducted in a medical morphology curriculum for 575 postgraduate students.The subjective learning evaluation of the individuals(learning time,engagement,study interest and concentration,and professional integration)was collected and analyzed after FC-CBL model learning.Results:The results from the general evaluation showed promising results of the medical morphology in the FC-CBL model.Students felt more engaged by instructors in person and benefited in terms of time-saving,flexible arrangements,and professional improvement.Our study contributed to the FC-CBL model in Research Design in postgraduate training in 4 categories:1)advancing a guideline of precision teaching according to individual characteristics;2)revealing whether a learning background is needed for a Research Design course to guide setting up a preliminary course;3)understanding the perceived advantages and their interfaces;and 4)barriers and/or improvement to implement the FC-CBL model in the Research Design class,such as a richer description of e-learning and hands-on practice.Conclusion:Undertaking a FC-CBL combined model could be a useful addition to pedagogy for medical morphology learning in postgraduate training. 展开更多

Objective:To assess the nursing curriculum and point out learning outcomes in Turkey.Methods:A cross-sectional design was used in this study.This study was conducted between May and June 2017 from 23 undergraduate nursing schools'education programs for one education and academic year's curriculum.The public information of the universities collected from their web sites and learning outcomes of the schools were classified as cognitive,psychomotor,and affective domains.Results:It appears that half of the basic nursing courses are in the psychomotor domain,and the majority of basic medical sciences courses are in the cognitive domain.Learning outcomes about the affective domain mostly take place in basic nursing courses.Conclusions:The findings of the results of this study can provide insight into current nursing education and guide new curricula to be developed. 展开更多

Text-to-SQL is the task of translating a natural language query into a structured query language. Existing text-to-SQL approaches focus on improving the model’s architecture while ignoring the relationship between queries and table schemas and the differences in difficulty between examples in the dataset. To tackle these challenges, a two-stage curriculum learning framework for text-to-SQL(TSCL-SQL) is proposed in this paper. To exploit the relationship between the queries and the table schemas, a schema identification pre-training task is proposed to make the model choose the correct table schema from a set of candidates for a specific query. To leverage the differences in difficulty between examples, curriculum learning is applied to the text-to-SQL task, accompanied by an automatic curriculum learning solution, including a difficulty scorer and a training scheduler. Experiments show that the framework proposed in this paper is effective. 展开更多

Taking as its point of departure the problems which English-majored students face when confronted directly with the course in literature at university,this study was conducted mainly through an analysis of student-and-teacher responses to questionnaires together with document analysis and reviews on the author’s experience in teaching and managing literary courses at his university.The sample includes 10 teachers in charge of the courses and 150 students attending these courses from five universities.The findings indicate that the teaching and learning of literature in the English language curriculum at these universities is facing certain problems,among which are:limited experience of mother tongue literature;limited experience of literary language;limited experience of English or American literature;and limited experience or knowledge of the world,life,people.From the implications identified,the findings of this paper are believed to yield further insights into the improvement of literature teaching and learning at university in Vietnamese contexts. 展开更多

"College English Curriculum Requirements", edited by Department of Higher Education(2007), put forward clearly one of the key points of the national College English teaching reform was to strengthen the application of computer to college English teaching and apply computer-and-classroom-based English teaching mode, improving the previous mode dominated by a single teacher. Most colleges and universities in China have basically achieved the popularity of computer multimedia classrooms and campus networks. However, according to researches(Xia, 2002), most teachers still hold the main role of them in classes as"language interpreter"and"language instructor". Although advanced computer technology has been provided, most teachers feel confused or difficult in using it to assist their English teaching efficiently. As a consequence, computer technology fail to play its role in English classes. Driven by the great development of science and technology, computer has brought about incredible changes in every aspect of social life since 1980 s. In current times, almost every aspect of college students' life has been closely associated with computer. However, in most situations, computer is not taken as a typical language learning tool in their daily life. It is known that most students' English basis is relatively weak in vocational colleges; meanwhile, the way in which they learned English during the middle school period was basically translation- based teaching. Thus they have little or even no interest in English learning at all. In this way, discovering a new and interesting way with the aid of computer to learn English is of essential importance. Based on this, the paper discusses five major aspects under the circumstance of computer-assisted English learning. It is hoped that vocational college English teaching and learning can become more efficient by means of computer technology, finally students' English learning motivation and English competence can be enhanced to a great extent. 展开更多

In European higher education,application of information technology,concentration on the learning-processes,consistent implementation,transfer learning,case-based learning,autonomous learning has been extensively studied in the last decade.Educational sciences based on neuroscientific findings use brain-based learning and teaching,including integrated thematic instructions and emotion-theory.Elements essential to this strategy,such as theory and methods for learning,competencies,attitudes,social reality,and a metadiscourse are described herein.Research on learning tends to focus on declarative knowledge,associative learning with conditional stimuli,and procedural knowledge with polythematic/crosslinking thinking.Research on competencies:In research on competencies(e.g.,for clinical reasoning,decision-making),intuitive and analytical components are studied.As repeated presentation and exercising of clinical cases is crucial for an efficient learning process,the implementation of interactive scenarios including affectively involving didactics is considered.For competence-development observational methods,questionnaires/item sets or factors have to be targeted and empirically validated.Attitudes and social reality:Clinical decision-making,identification processes and attitudes(“Hidden curriculum”),as well as secondary socialization processes(integration of social norms,values,preparation of role-acquisition,occupational role)are studied via process research,conceptual research,and observational methods.With respect to social reality research,conscious and unconscious bargaining processes have to be taken into account.Methodology:Neuroscience-memory,neuronal,molecular biology,and computer science(Neurocircuits)are integrated into observational process research(e.g.,affective-cognitive interface,identification processes)and conceptual research is added and studied on the meta-level,including discussion of research paradigms.This discussion provides ongoing feedback to projects in a hermeneutic circle. 展开更多

Background:The Science,PE,&Me!(SPEM)curriculum is a concept-based physical education curriculum that offers students coherent educational experiences for constructing health-related fitness knowledge through movement experiences.The purpose of this study was to evaluate students’motivational response to the SPEM curriculum from the situational interest perspective.Methods:The study used a cluster randomized controlled design in which 30 elementary schools in one of the largest metropolitan areas in the eastern United States were randomly assigned to an experimental or comparison condition.Although all students in the 3rd,4th,and 5th grades in the targeted schools were eligible to participate in the study,a random sample of students from the experimental(n=1749;15 schools)and comparison groups(n=1985;15 schools)provided data.Students’motivational response to the SPEM curriculum or comparison curriculum was measured using the previously validated Situational Interest Scale-Elementary.Data were analyzed using structural mean modeling.Results:The results demonstrated that the experimental group(as reference group)showed significantly higher enjoyment(z=-2.01),challenge(z=-6.54),exploration(z=-12.195),novelty(z=-8.80),and attention demand(z=-7.90)than the comparison group.Conclusion:The findings indicate that the SPEM curriculum created a more situationally interesting context for learning than the comparison physical education curriculum. 展开更多

Effects of Study-Abroad Experiences on Chinese Students’ L2 Learning Activities and Study-Abroad Motivations

This study explores how overseas exchange opportunities might influence Chinese students ’engagement in L2 learning activities and how far such opportunities may satisfy their motivation to study abroad. The analysis of the data, collected and filtered from carefully designed questionnaires and interviews, showed that students ’ L2 learning activities and study-abroad motivations underwent changes after their overseas experiences. Regarding the former, the overseas environment was the cause of the change because it provided students with more chances to talk with native speakers and increased the frequency of their using L2 in their daily life. Regarding the latter, the decline of the students ’ major study-abroad motivations was partly because they tended to treat L2 learning as a tool for realizing other goals and partly because the students had got other important motivations. In view of these findings, suggestions were raised to help future students get better prepared for their overseas study or short-term exchange life. 展开更多
