An efficient and direct procedure has been developed for the preparation of amidoalkyl naphthols by a one-pot condensation of aryl aldehydes, 2-naphthol and urea or amides, in the presence of wet-cyanuric chloride (wet-TCT) as a catalyst. The reactions were carried out under solvent-free media. The present methodology offers several advantages such as excellent yields, simple procedure and eco-friendly reaction condition. 展开更多

The preparation and adsorption of thiourea modified glutaraldehyde-crosslinked chitosan resin (Thio-chitosan) using cyanuric chloride as activator was studied. The adsorptive capacity of thio-chitosan with 15% apparent degree of crosslinking (DC, mass ration of glutaraldehyde to chitosan) to Cu(Ⅱ) was 160mg/g (dry weight). The adsorption of Cu(Ⅱ) was correlated with Freundlich and Langmuir isotherm equation. Cu(Ⅱ) adsorbed on thio-chitosan column ( 1cm×10cm) was eluted with 0.5mol/L H2SO4, 6mol/L HCI and 3% thiourea solution with the recovery of 88.3%, 86.1% and 95.3%, respectively. The thio-chitosan resin can be applied to the separation and recovery of metal ions. 展开更多

Facile Synthesis of Dendritic Hydroxyl-terminated Cyanuric Chloride Derivatives and Their Properties

Novel dendritic compounds G1.5(OH)4 and G1.5(OH)8 with peripheral hydroxyl were synthesized under mild conditions from eyanuric chloride, ethylene diamine, ethanolamine and diethanolamine. The products could be separated and purified through dispersion and precipitation in organic solvents with good yields (over 93.0%) and high purity (above 98.0%, HPLC). The structures of the products were characterized by 1R, MS, 1H NMR and elementary analysis. G1.5(OH)4 and Gl.5(OH)8 could be dissolved in polar solvents such as methanol, water and dimethylsulfoxide. TGA analysis showed that G1.5(OH)4 and G1.5(OH)8 had good thermo stability. The aqueous solutions ofG1.5(OH)4 and G1.5(OH)8 exhibited low surface tension. 展开更多

The efficient and regenerable antibacterial properties of Nhalamines make them an ideal candidate for parapretion of antimicrobial textiles. In this study,a 5,5-dimethylhydantoin-based reactive N-halamine precursor, 4-( 4-( 3-( 3-hydroxypropyl)-5,5-dimethylhydantoin)-6-chloro-1,3,5-triazinylamino)-benzenesulfonate( HTB), was synthesized and characterized by ~1H-NMR. The synthesized compound was coated to cotton fabrics via reactive dye dyeing process. The coated cotton showed excellent antimicrobial activities against S. aureus( Gram-positive) and E. coli O157: H7( Gram-negative) with short contact times after exposing to diluted household bleach. The treatment method used in this study has a small effect on the tensile strength of cotton fabrics. The durability and regenerability of the chlorinated cotton samples were tested.Although the chlorine content decreased towards washing and storage,almost all of the initial oxidative chlorine levels could be regained after rechlorination. 展开更多

The natural silk fabrics treated with them exhibit higher wrinkle recovery degree, strength retention rate and whiteness than those finished with 1,2,3,4-butane tetracarboxylic acid (BTCA). The washing durability of the fabrics treated with the synthesized compounds and BTCA is similar. The chlorine atom, the carboxyl and the s-triazine ring in the synthesized structures and the surface roughness of the silk fabric are all contributive to the imorovement of the crease resistance of silk. 展开更多
