In this study, a data portal is considered as an application-based network, and a cognitive method is proposed to deal with congestion in this kind of network. Unlike previous methods for congestion control, the proposed method is an effective approach for congestion control when the link capacity and information inquiries are unknown or variable. Using sufficient training samples and the current value of the network parameters, available bandwidth is adjusted to distribute the bandwidth among the active flows. The proposed cognitive method was tested under such situations as unexpected variations in link capacity and oscillatory behavior of the bandwidth. Based on simulation results, the proposed method is capable of adjusting the available bandwidth by tuning the queue length, and provides a stable queue in the network.展开更多

We ...Greening Internet is an important issue now, which studies the way to reduce the increasing energy expenditure. Our work focuses on the network infrastructure and considers its energy awareness in traffic routing. We formulate the model by traffic engineering to achieve link rate adaption, and also predict traffic matrices to preserve network stability. However, we realize that there is a tradeoff between network performance and energy efficiency, which is an obvious issue as Internet grows larger and larger. An essential cause is the huge traffic, and thus we try to find its solution from a novel architecture called Named Data Networking (NDN) which can flexibly cache content in edge routers and decrease the backbone traffic. We combine our methods with NDN, and finally improve both the network performance and the energy efficiency. Our work shows that it is effective, necessary and feasible to consider greening idea in the design of future Internet.展开更多

The websites of the social networks like face-book currently are among the most popular internet services just after giant portals such as Yahoo, MSN and search engines like Google. One of the main problems in analyzing these networks is the prediction of relationships between people in the network. The purpose of this paper is to forecast the friendship of a person with a new person using existing data on Flickr website accurately. In this paper, we achieved about 90% percent correct prediction with regards to the results which are obtained by using data mining methods.展开更多
