Dealing with Asymmetrical Abel Inversion Using Fourier-Bessel Expansions

A new method is presented for dealing with asymmetrical Abel inversion in this paper.We separate the integrated quantity into odd and even parts using Yasutomo's method. The asymmetric local value is expressed as the product of a weight function and a symmetric local value. The symmetric distribution is expanded into Fourier-Bessel series. The coefficients of the series are determined by the use of a least-square-fitting method.

Topology optimization of 3D shell structures with porous infill

This paper presents a 3D topology optimization approach for designing shell structures with a porous or void interior. It is shown that the resulting structures are significantly more robust towards load perturbations than completely solid structures optimized under the same conditions. The study indicates that the potential benefit of using porous structures is higher for lower total volume fractions.Compared to earlier work dealing with 2D topology optimization, we found several new effects in 3D problems. Most notably, the opportunity for designing closed shells significantly improves the performance of porous structures due to the sandwich effect. Furthermore, the paper introduces improved filter boundary conditions to ensure a completely uniform coating thickness at the design domain boundary.

Joint Dynamic Clustering and User Scheduling for Downlink Cloud Radio Access Network with Limited Feedback

In limited feedback-based CloudRAN(C-RAN) systems,the inter-cluster and intra-cluster interference together with the quantification error can seriously deteriorates the system spectral efficiency.We,in this paper,propose an efficient three-phase framework and corresponding algorithms for dealing with this problem.Firstly,a greedy scheduling algorithm based on the lower bound of the ergodic rate is performed for generating an elementary cluster in the first phase.And then the elementary cluster is divided into many small clusters according to the following proposed algorithms based on the short term instantaneous information in the second phase.In the end,based on the limited feedback two zero-forcing(ZF) precoding strategies are adopted for reducing the intra-cluster interference in the third phase.The provided Monte Carlo simulations show the effectiveness of our proposed algorithms in the respect of system spectral efficiency and average user rate.

Optimizing the Roadmap to Carbon Neutrality with a New Paradigm

1.Introduction Formulating an optimal roadmap to realizing the goals of peak carbon dioxide emissions and carbon neutrality calls for a systemic analysis of mesoscale structures at multiple levels and of their governing multiobjective mechanisms within different sectors and fields.However,the analyses currently available are mostly based on traditional approaches,which have not considered different levels of complexity and heterogeneity sufficiently,or have not accounted for multiple objectives sufficiently reasonably.In this perspective article,we attempt to figure out a new framework for dealing with this challenging issue within a totally different paradigm for multiscale complex systems,in which such a global challenge and the paradigm shift in science need to be addressed jointly.

Characteristics of Male Family Caregivers in Japan and Their Sense of Care Burden, Capacity to Deal with Stress, and Subjective Sense of Well-Being

This study aimed to clarify the characteristics of Japanese male family caregivers in terms of their sense of care burden, their capacity to deal with stress, and their subjective sense of well-being. A survey consisting of questionnaires and interviews was conducted from March to May 2014 in the subjects’ homes. Subjects were 27 Japanese males (the age range: 54 - 85) who provided home care for their family member. Caregivers who were good at relieving stress or who had a subjective sense of well-being were found to have a low care burden. The types and seriousness of diseases of the care recipients were not related to the caregivers’ sense of burden, capacity to deal with stress, or subjective sense of well-being. Based on the interview results, caregivers were found to have the following characteristics: they were particular about methods of care;they learned how to provide home care by themselves;they used their social intelligence in home care;they always provided home care while keeping the future in mind;and most notably, they considered home care to be their primary occupation. On the whole, male caregivers were found to alleviate the burdens of home care by making use of the nursing-care service systems that enabled them to relieve stress and enjoy their leisure time. Caregivers considered home care to be their occupation and used their past social experiences. The workforce helped them deal with the care recipients’ health conditions or day-to-day changes so that they could overcome the care burden.
