With consideration of the differences between concrete and steel, three solutions using genetic evolutionary structural optimization algorithm were presented to automatically develop optimal strut-and-tie model for deep beams. In the finite element analysis of the first method, the concrete and steel rebar are modeled by a plane element and a bar element, respectively. In the second method, the concrete and steel are assigned to two different plane elements, whereas in the third method only one kind of plane element is used with no consideration of the differences of the two materials.A simply supported beam under two point loads was presented as an example to verify the validity of the three proposed methods. The results indicates that all the three methods can generate optimal strut-and-tie models and the third algorithm has powerful capability in searching more optimal results with less computational effort. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm III has also been demonstrated by other two examples. 展开更多

A composite shear wall concept based on concrete filled steel tube (CFST) columns and steel plate (SP) deep beams is proposed and examined in this study. The new wall is composed of three different energy dissipation elements: CFST columns; SP deep beams; and reinforced concrete (RC) strips. The RC strips are intended to allow the core structural elements - the CFST columns and SP deep beams - to work as a single structure to consume energy. Six specimens of different configurations were tested under cyclic loading. The resulting data are analyzed herein. In addition, numerical simulations of the stress and damage processes for each specimen were carried out, and simulations were completed for a range of location and span-height ratio variations for the SP beams. The simulations show good agreement with the test results. The core structure exhibits a ductile yielding mechanism characteristic of strong column-weak beam structures, hysteretic curves are plump and the composite shear wall exhibits several seismic defense lines. The deformation of the shear wall specimens with encased CFST column and SP deep beam design appears to be closer to that of entire shear walls. Establishing optimal design parameters for the configuration of SP deep beams is pivotal to the best seismic behavior of the wall. The new composite shear wall is therefore suitable for use in the seismic design of building structures. 展开更多

By the nonlinear finite element analysis (FEA) method, the mechanical properties of the steel fiber reinforced concrete (SFRC) deep beams were discussed in terms of the crack load and ultimate bearing capacity. In the simulation process, the ANSYS parametric design language (APDL) was used to set up the finite element model; the model of bond stress-slip relationship between steel bar and concrete was established. The nonlinear FEA results and test results demonstrated that the steel fiber can not only significantly improve the cracking load and ultimate bearing capacity of the concrete but also repress the development of the cracks. Meanwhile, good agreement was found between the experimental data and FEA results, if the unit type, the parameter model and the failure criterion are selected reasonably. 展开更多

Deep beam anchorage structures based on spatial distribution analysis of the cable prestressed field have been proposed for roadway roof support, Stability and other factors that influence deep beam structures are studied in this paper using mechanical calculations, numerical analysis and field measurements, A mechanical model of deep beam structure subjected to multiple loading is established, including analysis of roof support in the return airway of S1203 working face in the Yuwu coal mine, China, The expression of maximum shear stress in the deep beam structure is deduced according to the stress superposition criterion, It is found that the primary factors affecting deep beam structure stability are deep beam thickness, cable pre-tension and cable spacing, The variation of maximum shear stress distribution and prestressed field diffusion effects according to various factors are analyzed using Matlah and FLAC3DTM software, and practical support parameters of the S1203 return airway roof are determined, According to the observations of rock pressure, there is no evidence of roof separation, and the maximum values of roof subsidence and convergence of wall rock are 72 and 48 mm, respectively, The results show that the proposed roof support design with a deep beam structure is feasible and achieves effective control of the roadway roof, 展开更多

In order to reveal the flexural behavior of hybrid fiber reinforced high-performance concrete deep beam, 16 high-performance concrete deep beams of different fiber volume content have been tested according to the state standards and testing methods. The effects of hybrid fiber on the yield moment and bending bearing capacity of the cross-section have been analyzed, the calculation method for the bending capacity' is discussed and the propositional formula are provided as well. Results shoxv that the flexural properties increased obviously when add ≤1.0% of volume content steel fibers and ≤0.11% of volume content polypropylene fibers in to deep beam. The results are useful to the further amendments of fiber reinforced concrete structure technical regulation (CECS 38:2004). 展开更多

In this paper, a steel-concrete multi-energy dissipation composite shear wall, comprised of steel-reinforced concrete (SRC) columns, steel plate (SP) deep beams, a concrete wall and energy dissipation strips, is proposed. In order to study the multi-energy dissipation behavior and restorability after an earthquake, two stages of low cyclic loading tests were carded out on ten test specimens. In the first stage, test on five specimens with different number of SP deep beams was carried out, and the test lasted until the displacement drift reached 2%. In the second stage, thin SPs were welded to both sides of the five specimens tested in the first stage, and the same test was carried out on the repaired specimens (designated as new specimens). The load-bearing capacity, stiffness, ductility, hysteretic behavior and failure characteristics were analyzed for both stages and the results are discussed herein. Extrapolating from these results, strength calculation models and formulas are proposed herein and simulations using ABAQUS carried out, they show good agreement with the test results. The study demonstrates that SRC columns, SP deep beams, concrete wall and energy dissipation strips cooperate well and play an important role in energy dissipation. In addition, this study shows that the shear wall has good recoverability after an earthquake, and that the welding of thin SP's to repair a deformed wall is a practicable technique. 展开更多

Based on the framework of the extended finite element method (XFEM), the enriched exponent discontinuous function is modified properly by introducing the rigidity ratio of two sides materials of interface crack, and the portion integral scheme is adopted for interface elements containing two materials. To embody the singularity of the crack tip, the triangle function is introduced directly. What’s more, the maximum loop stress fracture criterion is adopted to determine the extension direction in extended material domains, and the true extension distance for each load step is determined by reducing or increasing half the current trial extension distance until the equivalent stress intensity factor reaches the type I fracture toughness of material. Finally, with the improved XFEM, the interface crack propagation in a cantilever deep beam and concrete gravity dam are simulated without re-meshing respectively and their failure modes are also analyzed. 展开更多

The steel plate shear wall system has been used in a number of buildings as an innovative lateral force resistant system.Openings often exist in the steel plate shear walls due to the various functional requirements of structures. These openings may negatively impact the lateral stiffness of steel plate shear walls. Therefore,an experimental research was instituted to investigate the seismic behavior of steel plate shear walls, with and without openings. The experimental results showed that steel plate shear walls have the satisfying seismic behavior, and,as expected, the strength and stiffness characteristics of the walls were reduced due to openings. Then a single-story wall panel FE model and an analytical deep beam model are developed in order to find the critical factors dominating the thickness reduction coefficient of wall panels with the opening.Furthermore, extensive parametric analysis is conducted to derive a simplified formula for the determination of the thickness reduction coefficient of wall panels with the opening for substituting solid wall panels with reduced thickness for actual wall panels with the opening. Finally, the design method for calculating the lateral stiffness is verified by some experimental programs and recommended for the routine practice of steel plate shear walls. 展开更多
