A novel delayed feedback controller is established under which the chaotic master and slave systems are synchronized with a guaranteed H∞ performance. Based on the Lyapunov stability theory, a delay-dependent condition is derived and formulated in the form of linear matrix inequality (LMI). However, most work is theoretical one but few are experimental. This paper presents theoretical and experimental studies of delayed positive feedback control technique using a flexible beam as research object. The positive feedback weighting coefficient is designed by using the optimal control method. The available time delay is determined by analyzing the maximal real part of characteristic roots of the system. A DSP-based experiment system is introduced. Simulation and experimental results indicate that the delayed positive feedback control may effectively reduce the beam vibration if time delay is appropriately selected.展开更多

By means of the method of averaging together with truncation of Taylor expansions, two slow-flow equations on the amplitude and phase of response were derived for the case of principal parametric resonance, it is shown that the stability condition for the trivial solution is only associated with the linear terms in the original systems besides the amplitude and frequency of parametric excitation. And the trivial solution can be stabilized by appreciate choice of gains and time delay in feedback control. Different from the case of the trivial solution, the stability condition for nontrivial solutions is also associated with nonlinear terms besides linear terms in the original system. It is demonstrated that nontrivial steady state responses may lose their stability by saddle-node (SN) or Hopf bifurcation (HB) as parameters vary. The simulations, obtained by numerically integrating the original system, are in good agreement with the analytical results.展开更多

A delayed feedback control technique is used to suppress chaos to unstable focuses and unstable periodic orbits. To overcome the topological limitation that the saddle-type steady state cannot be stabilized, an adaptive control based on LaSalle's invariance principle is used to control chaos to unstable equilibrium (i.e. saddle point, focus, node, etc.). The control technique does not require any computer analysis of the system dynamics, and it operates without needing to know any explicit knowledge of the desired steady-state position.展开更多

The control method is then applied to a discrete small-world network model. Qualitative analyses and simulations show that under a generic condition, the bifurcations and the chaos can be delayed or eliminated completely. A node coupling model of an urban expressway based on complex networks has been established using the cell transmission model(CTM). The pinning controller corresponding to multi-ramp coordinated controller was designed by using the delayed feedback control(DFC) method, whose objective is to realize periodical orbits from chaotic states. The concrete pinning control nodes corresponding to the subsystems of regulating the inflows from the on-ramps to the mainline were obtained and the parameters of the controller were optimized by using the stability theory of complex networks to ensure the network synchronization. The validity of the proposed coordinated chaos control method was proven via the simulation experiment. The results of the examples indicated that the order motion on urban expressway can be realized, the wide-moving traffic jam can be suppressed, and the operating efficiency is superior to that of the traditional control methods.展开更多

First, the time-delayed feedback bang-bang control force is expressed approximately in terms of the system state variables without time delay. Then the averaged It6 stochastic differential equations for the system are derived using the stochastic averaging method. Finally, the response of the system is obtained by solving the Fokker-Plank-Kolmogorov (FPK) equation associated with the averaged lt6 equations. A Duffing oscillator with time-delayed feedback bang-bang control under combined harmonic and white noise excitations is taken as an example to illus- trate the proposed method. The analytical results are confirmed by digital simulation. We found that the time delay in feedback bang-bang control will deteriorate the control effectiveness and cause bifurcation of stochastic jump of Duffing oscillator.展开更多

First, the time-delayed feedback control force is expressed approximately in terms of the system state variables without time delay. Then, the averaged It? stochastic differential equations for the system are derived by using the stochastic averaging method. A backward Kolmogorov equation governing the conditional reliability function and a set of generalized Pontryagin equations governing the conditional moments of the first-passage time are established. Finally, the conditional reliability function, the conditional probability density and moments of the first-passage time are obtained by solving the backward Kolmogorov equation and generalized Pontryagin equations with suitable initial and boundary conditions. The effects of time delay in feedback control force on the conditional reliability function, conditional probability density and moments of the first-passage time are analyzed. The validity of the proposed method is confirmed by digital simulation.展开更多

Two novel criteria are developed for the stability of a class of complex- DDEs. These results not only generalize some known results in literature but also greatly reduce the complexity of analysis and computation. To validate the effectiveness of the proposed criteria, the stabilization problem of the extended time delay auto-synchronization (ETDAS) control and n time delay auto-synchronization (NTDAS) control are then further investigated, respectively. The numerical simulations are consistent with the above theoretical analysis.展开更多
