Hydrogen has emerged as a promising alternative to meet the growing demand for sustainable and renewable energy sources.Underground hydrogen storage(UHS)in depleted gas reservoirs holds significant potential for large...Hydrogen has emerged as a promising alternative to meet the growing demand for sustainable and renewable energy sources.Underground hydrogen storage(UHS)in depleted gas reservoirs holds significant potential for large-scale energy storage and the seamless integration of intermittent renewable energy sources,due to its capacity to address challenges associated with the intermittent nature of renewable energy sources,ensuring a steady and reliable energy supply.Leveraging the existing infrastructure and well-characterized geological formations,depleted gas reservoirs offer an attractive option for large-scale hydrogen storage implementation.However,significant knowledge gaps regarding storage performance hinder the commercialization of UHS operation.Hydrogen deliverability,hydrogen trapping,and the equation of state are key areas with limited understanding.This literature review critically analyzes and synthesizes existing research on hydrogen storage performance during underground storage in depleted gas reservoirs;it then provides a high-level risk assessment and an overview of the techno-economics of UHS.The significance of this review lies in its consolidation of current knowledge,highlighting unresolved issues and proposing areas for future research.Addressing these gaps will advance hydrogen-based energy systems and support the transition to a sustainable energy landscape.Facilitating efficient and safe deployment of UHS in depleted gas reservoirs will assist in unlocking hydrogen’s full potential as a clean and renewable energy carrier.In addition,this review aids policymakers and the scientific community in making informed decisions regarding hydrogen storage technologies.展开更多

The aim of ...BACKGROUND: The development of a harmless and effi- cient nonviral gene delivery system that can facilitate the penetration of nucleic acids through the plasma membrane is a key to successful gene therapy. The aim of this study was to test a nonviral gene transferring vector's function of delivering DNA into liver cells to provide an important clue for gene transfer in liver gene therapy. METHODS: The complex of DNA and DNA delivering protein was injected into mice through their tail veins. Then the mice were killed and their liver tissue was sec- tioned. The gene transferring results were detected using a confocal laser scanning microscope. RESULTS: Fluorescence analysis indicated that both DNA- membrane penetrating peptide (MPP) complex and DNA- hepatocyte specific receptor binding domain ( HSRBD) - MPP complex could go into liver cells. The fluorescence value of liver cells in the DNA-HSRBD-MPP group was higher than that in the DNA-MPP group. CONCLUSIONS; MPP can successfully deliver DNA and protein into cells, and MPP with a HSRBD can specifically deliver DNA into liver cells. These have laid a foundation for further study on the nonviral liver cell gene delivering system.展开更多

A single-well radial sim...With the development of the Tazhong No. 1 carbonate gas condensate reservoir in China, it has become more and more important to study the characteristics of gas condensate well deliverability. A single-well radial simulator for dual-permeability reservoirs was established to study the influences of fluid properties, permeability, and pressure drawdown on well deliverability with and without the capillary number effect. The simulation shows that well deliverability basically maintains its initial value and is not affected by the capillary number when the formation pressure is higher than dew-point pressure. However, well deliverability drops rapidly when the formation pressure is lower than dew-point pressure. Even if the condensate dropout is very low, well deliverability without the capillary number effect reduces to 50 percent of its initial value when reservoir pressure declines to 95 percent of dew-point pressure, but well deliverability is significantly improved if the capillary number effect exists. The capillary number effect is most significant when reservoir pressure is just lower than dew point pressure, then the effect decreases; the reduction of well deliverability is mainly caused by the reduction of gas relative permeability of the matrix system near the wellbore.展开更多

Two narrow-band fiber Bragg gratings centered at 1029.9nm and 1032nm respectively with a polarization controller inserted between them are used to realize the wavelength switchable between 1029.9nm and 1032nm. The laser delivers different pulse widths of 7.5ps for 1030nm and 20ps for 1032nm. The maximum output power for both could reach -6.5mW at single pulse operation. The output wavelength couM be tuned to about 0.gnm intervals ranging from 1030.2nm to 1031.1 nm and from 1032.15nm to 1033.7nm with the temperature change of the fiber Bragg grating, respectively.展开更多

It is desirable for delivery vehicles to be introduced into the body ...The development of novel drug delivery systems is an essential step toward controlled site-specific administration of therapeutics within the body. It is desirable for delivery vehicles to be introduced into the body through minimally invasive means and, these vehicles should be capable of releasing drug to their intended location at a controlled rate. Furthermore, it is desirable to develop drug delivery systems that are capable of in vivo to suffer degradation and to deliver the drug completely, avoiding the need to surgically remove the vehicle at the end of its useful lifetime. Hydrogels are of particular interest for drug delivery applications due to their ability to address these needs in addition to their good biocompatibility, tunable network structure to control the diffusion of drugs and, tunable affinity for drugs. However, hydrogels are also limited for drug delivery applications due to the often quick elution of drug from their highly swollen polymer matrices as well as the difficulty inherent in the injection of macroscopic hydrogels into the body. This paper presents an overview to the advances in hydrogels based drug delivery. Different types of hydrogels can be used for drug delivery to specific sites in the gastrointestinal tract ranging from the oral cavity to the colon. These novel systems exhibit a range of several peculiar properties which make them attractive as controlled drug release formulations. Moreover, such materials are biocompatible and can be formulated to give controlled, pulsed, and triggered drug release profiles in a variety of tissues.展开更多

However, often size increases causing pain, and complications of fractures can severely compromise the patient.<strong> Aim:</strong> The results in a series of cases treated minimally invasive using a new device for the application of allogenic bone material appear highly promising and shall be presented. <strong>Patients and Methods:</strong> Eight consecutive patients with symptomatic Unicameral Bone Cysts (UBC) were treated by percutaneous instillation of Grafton<span style="white-space:nowrap;">?</span> DBF Putty (demineralised allogenic bone containing fibers) mixed with autologous bone marrow using the Kyphon<span style="white-space:nowrap;">?</span> Cement Delivery System (Medtronic), which allows the injection of this high viscosity paste by controlled high pressure. Five patients with Aneurysmal Bone Cysts (ABC) were treated accordingly after inactivation by Aethoxysclerol 3% and lacking bone formation. Using this approach a high rate of bone regeneration was observed in these patients at 8 months to 5 years follow-up (f/u). <strong>Conclusion:</strong> The presented technique of a minimally invasive biologic treatment led to highly satisfying results using the Grafton<span style="white-space:nowrap;">?</span> DBF Putty with its higher potential for bone regeneration than demineralized bone matrix not containing fibres (DBM).展开更多

文摘Delivering bad news regarding patient's health is an unavoidable task for physicians and medical students in their careers.This is especially difficult for beginners.Disclosing undesired medical information to patients is technically and mentally demanding.Only with proper communication skills and sufficient patient-contact practice can medical practitioners smoothly cope with this stressful mission.There are a number of common mistakes we fall into when delivering bad news,which might induce or exacerbate patients' anxiety.Sometimes we are prone to disclose medical information in a "straight-to-the-point" manner.This is often a futile attempt made on the physician's part to ease his or her own uncomfortableness when delivering bad news,but unfortunately it does no good to facilitate patients' acceptance of the actual condition.Instead of using medical jargons,physicians are obliged to use "layman's terms" that make better sense to their patients.Declaring a clinical diagnosis without corresponding explanation on the prognosis and the discussion of treatment can also bring much confusion and anxiety to patients.Another even worse situation might be that we finish the "lecture" in our own words without confirming the patient's comprehension and addressing their questions.Professionals have recommended a six-step protocol on delivering bad news to patients:"SPIKES":S-Setting up the interview;P-assessing the patient's Perception;I-obtaining the patient's Invitation;K-giving Knowledge and information to the patient;E-addressing the patient's Emotions with Empathic responses;S-Strategy and Summary.

文摘<strong>Background: </strong>Simple Unicameral and Aneurysmal Bone Cysts are benign lesions that may heal spontaneously especially after fracture which may be the first symptom. However, often size increases causing pain, and complications of fractures can severely compromise the patient.<strong> Aim:</strong> The results in a series of cases treated minimally invasive using a new device for the application of allogenic bone material appear highly promising and shall be presented. <strong>Patients and Methods:</strong> Eight consecutive patients with symptomatic Unicameral Bone Cysts (UBC) were treated by percutaneous instillation of Grafton<span style="white-space:nowrap;">?</span> DBF Putty (demineralised allogenic bone containing fibers) mixed with autologous bone marrow using the Kyphon<span style="white-space:nowrap;">?</span> Cement Delivery System (Medtronic), which allows the injection of this high viscosity paste by controlled high pressure. Five patients with Aneurysmal Bone Cysts (ABC) were treated accordingly after inactivation by Aethoxysclerol 3% and lacking bone formation. Using this approach a high rate of bone regeneration was observed in these patients at 8 months to 5 years follow-up (f/u). <strong>Conclusion:</strong> The presented technique of a minimally invasive biologic treatment led to highly satisfying results using the Grafton<span style="white-space:nowrap;">?</span> DBF Putty with its higher potential for bone regeneration than demineralized bone matrix not containing fibres (DBM).
