Study on the Characteristics of Gut Microbiota in Chronic Hepatitis B(CHB)Patients with Damp Heat Syndrome and Liver Depression and Spleen Deficiency Syndrome

Objective:This study was designed to explore the characteristics of gut microbiota in CHB patients with two most common traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)Syndromes—damp heat syndrome and liver depression and spleen deficiency syndrome.Methods:According to the diagnostic criteria of Western medicine,TCM and screening exclusion criteria,65 cases of CHB with damp heat syndrome and 28 cases of CHB with liver depression and spleen deficiency syndrome were finally included in the study.All the basic information was gathered and the fresh fecal samples were collected for 16S rDNA sequencing.16S rDNA of gut microbiota was sequenced using Illumina hiseq 2,500 high-throughput sequencing platform.Based on the optimized sequence,Operational Taxonomic Units(OTU)clustering analysis and taxonomic annotation were carried out.Results:The difference in relative abundance of gut microbiota was significant between damp heat syndrome and liver depression and spleen deficiency syndrome in CHB patients.Cyanobacteria was only found in damp heat syndrome.The relative abundance of Erysipelotrichia and Subdoligranulum were higher in liver depression and spleen deficiency syndrome,while the relative abundance of Rhodospirillales,Alphaproteobacteria and Lachnospira were higher in the damp heat syndrome.LDA Effect Size(LEfSe)analysis showed that Lachnospira,Olsenella and Subdoligranulum had significant difference in species among the two TCM syndromes.Conclusion:The different characteristics of gut microbiota in the two TCM syndromes of CHB patients may play an important role in syndrome formation of TCM,which provides a new field of vision for the accurate diagnosis and treatment of TCM.

Research progress of Traditional Chinese Medicine in the treatment of tumor-related depression

Cancer related depression(CRD)refers to the significant and lasting depression of the patient due to tumor diagnosis,treatment and comorbidities.It can be attributed to the category of“stagnation syndrome”in traditional Chinese medicine(TCM).Clinically,cancer-related depression can be divided into three stages,namely primary,middle and final stages by analogy with depression syndrome.The location of the initial disease is in the liver.The main syndrome was excess,while the basic pathogenesis is mainly due to liver-qi stagnation syndrome and the principle of treatment is dispersing stagnated liver qi for relieving qi stagnation by using modified Xiaoyao Powder and Chaihu Shugan Powder.In the middle stage of the disease,the location is in the spleen and stomach.The main syndrome was intermingled deficiency and excess.The principle of treatment is relaxing bowels,dissipating phlegm and eliminating dampness,regulating qi-flowing and promoting blood,invigorating spleen and heart,nourishing qi and blood.Xuefuzhuyu tang,Guipi decotion,Bailongjieyu granules can be used as treatment for this period.At the final stage of the disease,the main syndrome was deficiency,the principle of treatment is replenishing lung and heart,benefiting qi and regulating spleen,nourishing lung and kidney.Baihe formulas,Kai-Xin-San are chosed at this stage.

Acupuncture Treatment of Depressive Syndromes after Cerebral Vascular Accidents

Depressive syndrome is a common complication in cerebral vascular accidents (CVA), which accounts for 70% of the complications. A mild case of the syndrome is marked by grief, sleeping disturbance, weakened mental activities, worry, loss of interest, and irritability. A severe case may have worse symptoms and signs, except the above mentioned ones, such as anxiety, reduced appetite, hallucination, delusion, desperation, etc. The author has adopted acupuncture to treat depressive syndromes after CVA with good therapeutic result as reported in the following.
