Brand mergers in automotive industry companies struggling to survive under high competition create new work disciplines, professions, and engineering flow steps in lean product development processes. However, lean product development processes driven by technological innovation under simplification have resulted in the integration of parts and systems within the autonomous vehicle design structure, as well as creating new interdisciplinary value streams or different stakeholders. Therefore, the research revealed the significant effects of lean product development processes on the value stream in the automotive industry, on the mixed and lean product development process structure formed by new or existing vehicle systems (conventional vehicle) under the penetration of each existing and new discipline. This research compares the efficient operation steps of the process stakeholders in the autonomous vehicle design parts or systems containing innovation and new technology together with the value stream in the lean product development process, and the new process stakeholder’s business-oriented global and local automotive industry companies. New autonomous vehicle technologies, together with their unique software, hardware and development analysis, have been involved in the lean product development process with their interdisciplinary studies or expertise. Therefore, the study firstly focused on the technologies in environmental use together with the new basic features of autonomous vehicles, and then examined in depth the new or existing disciplines and interdisciplinary basic structure that these innovations affect under the value stream in the lean product development process. Numerous service design methods have been developed for designing and developing products. However, owing to the limited availability of useful tools in IT service design, these methods are ineffective. This study proposes an innovative three-dimensional method for designing IT services. The proposed method considers user requirements, an organization's business requirements, service providers' management requirements as well as the decision-making criteria of management representatives to ensure a smooth implementation of a designed IT service. Using this method, a prototype system to improve campus wireless local area network services was developed and tested at a university in Taiwan. The prototype system reduced the need for repetitive authentication and the time required to solve service problems and address user complaints. In addition, the service design team observed an approximately 70% reduction in project cycle time. The proposed method provided a systematic means to organize the design and implementation of IT services.展开更多

Rockbursts occur as a direct consequence of underground mining or civil excavation.The general scale of their seismic disturbance and consequences depend upon known factors.However,uncertainty remains as to exactly wh...Rockbursts occur as a direct consequence of underground mining or civil excavation.The general scale of their seismic disturbance and consequences depend upon known factors.However,uncertainty remains as to exactly when and where rockbursts will occur,as well as the effectiveness of ground support measures to fully mitigate their consequences.While the uncertainty in when and where is a dilemma shared with earthquake prediction,that associated with ground support capability is both a design and a management concern.Following a brief review of the known mechanisms that produce rockbursts,the paper explores the sources and scales of energy demands that characterize the risk of their damaging consequences upon underground excavations.We note that some of this risk continues to be associated with uncertainty with respect to rockmass properties and in situ stress,particularly in the context of deep mining.A review is presented of all available yielding ground support systems and their necessary design requirements,identifying practical weaknesses and limitations where these are known.The paper concludes with some suggested areas where further study and development could provide the ways and means to reduce the design uncertainty in managing rockbursts.展开更多

Accordingly, the framework describes a comprehensive approach based on a series of alternating divergence/convergence cycles. Subsequently, the approach encom- passes a concept evolution process, derivation methods, aggregation/segregation technique, translation channels, and development layers. Each of the major divergent phases of the framework consists of eight parts. Furthermore, the skills and tasks associated with framework implementation are mapped into the main processing phases. The scope of this study is architectural design in higher education and practice. To demonstrate its applicability, the framework is implemented and illustrated by a case study. However, factors like comprehensive land-use type, variable spatial elevation, dynamic rainfall and groundwater elevation, make the direct estimation of runoff coefficient difficult. This paper presented a novel method to estimate the urban runoff coefficient using the inverse method, where observed time-series catchment outfall flow volume was employed as input for the water balance model and runoff coefficients of different catchments were treated as unknown parameters. A developed constrained minimization objective function was combined to solve the model and minimized error between observed and modeled outfall flow is satisfactory for the presenting of a set of runoff coefficients. Estimated runoff coefficients for the urban catchments in Shanghai downtown area demonstrated that practice of low impact design could play an important role in reducing the urban runoff.展开更多

This research compares the efficient operation steps of the process stakeholders in the autonomous vehicle design parts or systems containing innovation and new technology together with the value stream in the lean product development process, and the new process stakeholder’s business-oriented global and local automotive industry companies. New autonomous vehicle technologies, together with their unique software, hardware and development analysis, have been involved in the lean product development process with their interdisciplinary studies or expertise. Therefore, the study firstly focused on the technologies in environmental use together with the new basic features of autonomous vehicles, and then examined in depth the new or existing disciplines and interdisciplinary basic structure that these innovations affect under the value stream in the lean product development process. In addition, micro-level results and recommendations were shared, shedding light on how autonomous vehicle levels will create changes in the new product development process.
文摘IT (information technology) services are diverse and complex. Numerous service design methods have been developed for designing and developing products. However, owing to the limited availability of useful tools in IT service design, these methods are ineffective. This study proposes an innovative three-dimensional method for designing IT services. The proposed method considers user requirements, an organization's business requirements, service providers' management requirements as well as the decision-making criteria of management representatives to ensure a smooth implementation of a designed IT service. Using this method, a prototype system to improve campus wireless local area network services was developed and tested at a university in Taiwan. The prototype system reduced the need for repetitive authentication and the time required to solve service problems and address user complaints. In addition, the service design team observed an approximately 70% reduction in project cycle time. The proposed method provided a systematic means to organize the design and implementation of IT services.

文摘Rockbursts occur as a direct consequence of underground mining or civil excavation.The general scale of their seismic disturbance and consequences depend upon known factors.However,uncertainty remains as to exactly when and where rockbursts will occur,as well as the effectiveness of ground support measures to fully mitigate their consequences.While the uncertainty in when and where is a dilemma shared with earthquake prediction,that associated with ground support capability is both a design and a management concern.Following a brief review of the known mechanisms that produce rockbursts,the paper explores the sources and scales of energy demands that characterize the risk of their damaging consequences upon underground excavations.We note that some of this risk continues to be associated with uncertainty with respect to rockmass properties and in situ stress,particularly in the context of deep mining.A review is presented of all available yielding ground support systems and their necessary design requirements,identifying practical weaknesses and limitations where these are known.The paper concludes with some suggested areas where further study and development could provide the ways and means to reduce the design uncertainty in managing rockbursts.
文摘A framework that integrates the fragmented elements of concept derivation, processing, and translation is developed and discussed. This framework aims to consolidate the divergent components of design conception into a comprehensive system that facilitates design conceptualization, initiation, and integration of various concept evolution phases, components, layers, and aspects. Accordingly, the framework describes a comprehensive approach based on a series of alternating divergence/convergence cycles. Subsequently, the approach encom- passes a concept evolution process, derivation methods, aggregation/segregation technique, translation channels, and development layers. Each of the major divergent phases of the framework consists of eight parts. Furthermore, the skills and tasks associated with framework implementation are mapped into the main processing phases. The scope of this study is architectural design in higher education and practice. To demonstrate its applicability, the framework is implemented and illustrated by a case study. Reflections about its implementation and limitations are reported and discussed.
文摘An architectural design process is investigated to achieve form flexibility in industrialized building systems (IBS), as IBS constructions do not have sufficient flexibility to develop varied architectural forms. The ethnography method has been used to examine the issues related to "form" flexibility in the design life cycle of IBS constructions by observing the constructions of live experimental models. The major tasks and respective design aspects that facilitate form flexibitities in architectural design have been identified. Furthermore, an integrated life cycle mode[ has been developed to effectively address the interfaces between the design tasks and eventually fulfill the needs of IBS in the design life cycle.

文摘As part of general construction management,production planning and control is vital for successful project delivery.Numerous approaches supporting production planning and control exist in practice and research.However,the different approaches focus on distinct areas such as workflow stabilization or cost control,and no single system combines all the requirements of a holistic production management system.Varying production management systems can be explained by the unique characteristics of many construction projects.As an approach for the digital twinning in the construction industry,building information modeling(BIM)can help standardize production management through shifting the management system design toward the digital prototype.Previous scientific work has acknowledged this approach,thereby generating numerous concepts for using building information models within construction management approaches.However,BIM is often merely used as a parallel support rather than as an integral part of production management systems.To address this gap and in terms of research methodology,we follow a Design Science Research approach.Thus,we propose a new BIM-based production management system,which is characterized by a theoretical integration model for BIM and existing construction management techniques,and a methodology for applying these concepts in practice.
文摘The growing importance of the service economy during the last 40 years has raised the need for new tools for designing and managing services. As a result, several authors have developed service classification systems, in order to better understand the nature of service operations and provide methods and tools to improve service efficiency and quality. This paper exploits the work resulting from service classification systems and identifies the principal attributes to be considered in service management. The tool introduced for this purpose is the Service Attribute-Process Matrix (SAPM), which uses selected results from existing service classification schemes to investigate the importance of the significant service attributes to major processes of the service life cycle.

文摘Runoff coefficient is an important parameter for the decision support of urban stormwater management. However, factors like comprehensive land-use type, variable spatial elevation, dynamic rainfall and groundwater elevation, make the direct estimation of runoff coefficient difficult. This paper presented a novel method to estimate the urban runoff coefficient using the inverse method, where observed time-series catchment outfall flow volume was employed as input for the water balance model and runoff coefficients of different catchments were treated as unknown parameters. A developed constrained minimization objective function was combined to solve the model and minimized error between observed and modeled outfall flow is satisfactory for the presenting of a set of runoff coefficients. Estimated runoff coefficients for the urban catchments in Shanghai downtown area demonstrated that practice of low impact design could play an important role in reducing the urban runoff.
