A Deep Learning-Based Teaching Design for High School Geography Units:Taking the Example of Landforms of the Humanistic Education Edition

The traditional teaching methods of one-way cultivation of students can no longer meet the requirements of talent cultivation at this stage.The issue of how to promote students from passive acceptance to the independent cognitive understanding stage(i.e.deep learning)has become the focus of geography teaching.Therefore,under the guidance of deep learning theory,this paper takes the“landforms”knowledge unit of the Humanistic Education Edition as an example,improves the classroom teaching means through the unit teaching mode,reconstructs the“landforms”teaching unit,and explores the specific teaching of high school geography unit based on deep learning.This study provides a good example and guidelines for high school geography teaching and learning.

On the Teaching Design of Graduates’EAP Course:Enhancing Language Proficiency and Critical Thinking Skills

This paper explores the integration of the bridge-in,objectives,pre-assessment,participatory activities,post-assessment and summary(BOPPPS)teaching model within the context of the post-graduates Academic English course.It discusses how this structured approach can effectively enhance students’language proficiency,foster critical thinking skills,and align with the multifaceted objectives of advanced English language education.The study provides a detailed examination of each BOPPPS component as applied to the post-graduates Academic English curriculum,supported by theoretical underpinnings and practical implications.

Achieve Intended Learning Outcomes and Improving Digital Literacy Skills for Practical-Based Subjects Using Online Teaching via Propagation of OER Materials

As professors are subjected to teaching their classes online due to the recent COVID-19, our local Hong Kong students find it difficult to consult their teachers, and ultimately would fail to achieve the intended learning outcomes, especially for practical-based subjects. In this research, students having online classes of a practical-based fabric design subject were encouraged to self-study from Open Educational Resource (OER) materials for a further and better understanding of their subject. Additionally, online materials were developed to improve students’ understanding via skill of digital literacy. Their learning progress was evaluated and compared to the face-to-face version. The majority of students found online classes combined with self-studying OER materials, potentially be a substitute for face-to-face classes. Most of the students further opined different OER videos assisted them without any face-to-face instructions in practical works, to develop new fabric samples from the inspiration. Analysis of test results, and comparison of students’ final grades with different learning modes, supported these phenomena.

Classroom Activity and Intrinsic Motivationin EFL Teaching and Learning

The question of how to motivate language learners has been a neglected area in L2 motivation research, and even thefew available analyses lack an adequate research base. This article presents the results of an empirical survey aimed at initiatinginterviews and conducting follow-up questionnaire to obtain classroom data on motivational classroom teaching activities and theactual effect of these strategies. This current study provides new insights into English classroom teaching with further researchinvestigation and teaching implication to promote students＇ integrative motivation through classroom teaching activities.

Under "Integration of Doing, Learning and Teaching", Research on the Project-Based Teaching Innovation of "Landscape Planning and Design"

Based on the research on the project course theory of "integration of theory and practice" in higher vocational education and the analysis of practical teaching in colleges and universities at home and abroad, combined with literature research, case analysis, system theory and other research methods, the project-based teaching goal, model, content and means of "integration of doing, learning and teaching" in higher vocational education is explored, and the project-based teaching model of "Landscape Planning and Design" is discussed combined with the application of information-based teaching methods. So as to provide references for carrying out the project-based teaching in similar courses in higher vocational colleges and really achieve docking the actual post requirements with the course to provide the basis for achieving the purpose of cultivating skilled talents in higher vocational education.

Active Machine Learning for Chemical Engineers:A Bright Future Lies Ahead!

By combining machine learning with the design of experiments,thereby achieving so-called active machine learning,more efficient and cheaper research can be conducted.Machine learning algorithms are more flexible and are better than traditional design of experiment algorithms at investigating processes spanning all length scales of chemical engineering.While active machine learning algorithms are maturing,their applications are falling behind.In this article,three types of challenges presented by active machine learning—namely,convincing the experimental researcher,the flexibility of data creation,and the robustness of active machine learning algorithms—are identified,and ways to overcome them are discussed.A bright future lies ahead for active machine learning in chemical engineering,thanks to increasing automation and more efficient algorithms that can drive novel discoveries.

The Practical Path to Cultivating Innovative Talents:Implementing Cross-Disciplinary Learning Communities in Environmental Design Education

In response to the national strategy of“vigorously cultivating interdisciplinary talents and actively promoting interdisciplinary integration,”this article focuses on the nationally recognized Environmental Design program at Hezhou University’s College of Design,leveraging local industry advantages to engage in interdisciplinary integration through educational practices.Using the“Construction of the Panoramic Virtual Nature Museum of the Guizhou Crocodile Lizard at Mount Dagui”as a case study,we aim to establish a professional and interdisciplinary learning community,incorporate student-centered interactive teaching methods,boost student motivation,enhance teaching quality,nurture forward-thinking versatile innovative talents,and provide a guideline for interdisciplinary educational reform.

Exploring the Development of English Club Activities in Junior High School English Language Learning

English language activities are enjoyable and respect the students’subjectivity,which stimulates their enthusiasm for using English communication.Therefore,it is widely welcomed by junior high school students.The development of the English club and their activities,such as membership,management systems,event planning,advisory lecturers,and cooperation with school management,among others,all directly affect the club activities.Therefore,it is essential to promote their club activities in junior high school English language learning.This paper analyzes the role of the English club and explores their process of conducting specific activities.It is hoped that this paper will be used as a reference for future studies.

Machine learning in materials design:Algorithm and application

Traditional materials discovery is in ‘trial-and-error’ mode, leading to the issues of low-efficiency, high-cost, and unsustainability in materials design. Meanwhile, numerous experimental and computational trials accumulate enormous quantities of data with multi-dimensionality and complexity, which might bury critical ‘structure–properties’ rules yet unfortunately not well explored. Machine learning(ML), as a burgeoning approach in materials science, may dig out the hidden structure–properties relationship from materials bigdata, therefore, has recently garnered much attention in materials science. In this review, we try to shortly summarize recent research progress in this field, following the ML paradigm:(i) data acquisition →(ii) feature engineering →(iii) algorithm →(iv) ML model →(v) model evaluation →(vi) application. In section of application, we summarize recent work by following the ‘material science tetrahedron’:(i) structure and composition →(ii) property →(iii) synthesis →(iv) characterization, in order to reveal the quantitative structure–property relationship and provide inverse design countermeasures. In addition, the concurrent challenges encompassing data quality and quantity, model interpretability and generalizability, have also been discussed. This review intends to provide a preliminary overview of ML from basic algorithms to applications.

通过分析比较Blending Learning概念和微课的概念、特征,提出了基于Blending Learning的微课新概念。依据Blending Learning教学过程设计模式,阐述了微课教学设计组成和原则,微课网络平台设计的基本形式、构成要素及活动特征。根据Blending Learning中师生角色、教学过程和视频录制等进行了微课分类,着重分析了讲授类和演示类微课的设计,以及微课视频录制技术应用,并且运用多媒体学习理论阐明了微课件的设计原则。
