Evidence from young children suggests that trajectories of number learning differ for children having different home numeracy experiences. Children involved in higher frequency of direct numeracy practice tend to have higher numeracy skills, but the result becomes more complicated when considering the types of home numeracy activities. The relationship between the home numeracy experience and preschool children's nurneracy development may shed light on how children acquire number skills and develop their mathematics competence.展开更多

One particular challenge reported for such Home Care Systems (HCS) is the identification of an appropriate requirements development technique for dealing with the typical diverse stakeholders involved. Agile Methods (AMs) recognize this challenge and propose techniques that could be useful. This paper examines the desirable characteristics identified for requirements development in HCS and investigates the extent to which agile practices conform to these. It also sets out future work to improve the situation for the non compliant points found.展开更多

Utilizing secondary data, which map out 10 different locations in the region, the paper highlights the level of radioactive substances (X-ray, beta-ray and gamma-ray) and presence of heavy metals in the environment. The results show that there are traces of X-ray, beta-ray and gamma-ray as well as the heavy metals such as Pb, As, Cu, Cr and Ni which exceeded the international standards. This is particularly significant as people use the contaminated soils as building materials for their homes as well as for farming and food production. The inhabitants of the area are often without any knowledge about the perils of the contaminated soils, water as well as air which is serious long-term human catastrophe. Drawing from international experience, the paper argues that it is possible to develop housing in former tin-mining areas but requires careful remediation and engagement by the public and private sector.展开更多

Currently, most home service companies work only as an intermediary agent between their clients and workers, and are located far away from neighborhoods. In the long run, it’s hoped that professional home service companies spring up, with formal employment relationship with those individuals who directly provide home services. Those companies are expected to set up outlets in different communities.展开更多
