In traditional Chinese medicine(TCM),ophthalmic syndrome differentiation is an ophthalmology-specific method for identifying syndromes based on the“Five Orbiculi”theory.It was devised by Professor Qing-Hua PENG through an unprecedented combination of syndrome element differentiation and ophthalmic clinical practices,based on the Clinical Terminology of Chinese Medical Diagnosis and Treatment-Syndromes of the National Standards of the People's Republic of China.This approach integrates an ophthalmic syndrome differentiation system with digital Chinese medicine(DCM),and proposes the extraction of syndrome elements of ophthalmic diseases from research on DCM.These elements are then quantified and organized to form a model of digital diagnosis and treatment specific to ophthalmology,which should help to achieve synergistic development of the ophthalmic syndrome differentiation system and DCM.

Reality in Ruins Before and After the Catastrophe： The Case of Two Contemporary Polish Novels

This article explores the problematic status of reality before and after Holocaust. Taking two different Polish novels as examples, the author deals with the metaphor of ruins, remains, and ashes to define the ontological status of the world in two texts. In the first text, Piotr Szewc＇s annihilation brings the positive vision of ruin as a kind of fragile and finite being which needs love and care. In the second text, Piotr Pazinski＇s Pensjonat shows that ruin is only a negative aspect of reality which is illegible and empty. The main concern of the text is to oppose those two visions and make a conclusion about the dialectic of the ruin.

Breaking with Aristotle＇s theory of tragedy in which the grand magnitude of the spirit of the tragic hero somehow trapped and misguided by a certain tragic flaw arouses the audiences＇ emotional intensity of pity and fear for the functioning of catharsis, Hegel analyzes the structure of tragedy in terms of the social conflict, in the case of Sophocles＇ Antigone, between the ruler Creon and the rebel Antigone, the patriarchal state and the individual woman, the civil codes and the divine law. Rejecting Creon＇s dictatorship and performing civil disobedience, Antigone intentionally buries the dead body of her brother Polyneices at the cost of being sentenced to death. Through this sacrifice, Antigone exposes the structural fissure of the civil society embedded in decaying morality for realizing the higher ideal of divine law and ethics. Through Antigone＇s sacrifice, the paradox of self-denial and self-elevation manifests the inner principle of dialectic through which the very opposite forces of contradiction engender the dynamic facets of the formation of modern civil society. As Hegelian dialectic is driven by its inner principle of negativity or negation of negation, through self-denial, Antigone transcends the moral codes of the mundane world for reaching the higher divine will. Yet, this dialectical ascending does not indicate a transcendent hero beyond the human world; instead, through the means of self-denying sacrifice, Antigone accomplishes the purpose of the divine will and conveys the divine spirit incarnated in the human flesh. Thus, this paper aims to investigate into the shift from Aristotle＇s concept of tragic hero to Hegelian dialectic tragedy and further examines how Hegelian tragic hero engenders the historical move into Western modernity through negative dialectic and accomplishes the self-other positioning of ethical substance presented in Sophocles＇ Antigone.

Spatial production and spatial dialectic: Evidence from the New Urban Districts in China

New Urban Districts(NUDs)are the important spatial carriers to promote urban expansion or transformation.Since the 1990 s,they have been playing a more and more crucial role in China’s urbanization.For NUDs in the strict sense we found that:96%to the east of Hu Line;56%within the municipal districts;64%within 36 km from their every city center and below the area of 423 km^2.The regional distribution follows significant spatial difference as"Eastern Region(50%)–Central Region(42%)–Western Region(8%)",and the provinces with the largest number of NUDs are Guangdong,Henan,Zhejiang,Liaoning,and Jiangsu.Furthermore,their interesting constructed process highlights the typical characteristics of spatial production and spatial dialectic.This paper uses the theory of the production of space,and discovers that the growth of NUDs is a rapid ternary dialectical process of spatial production:"representations of space"is guided by the top-down governmental power;"spatial practice"is reflected in the hierarchical and regional difference of spatial elements,such as the type,pattern,distance and area of NUD;"spaces of representation"embodies the tension between governmental power and urban development rights,as well as the countermeasure mechanism.The extensibility of spatiotemporal sequences ensures the unity and continuity of spatial(re)production of NUDs.However,this is also facing a series of challenges like the management coordination of administrative division and the increasing unbalanced or inadequate development.Thus,critically rethinking the evolution of NUD is the key basis for achieving sustainable urban renewal and regional orderly development in the new era.

Adomo＇s View of Life

The aim of this article is to reflect on the dialectic of the individual＇s life and death in terms of Adorno＇s moral philosophy, specifically through a thorough reading of his Negative Dialectics and other key works on the subject. I hold that there are two aspects of the dialectic of life within the context of Adorno＇s nonidentityOne involves exploring the false identification, due to the reification of modem society, of the individual＇s life experience with her or his death experience, while the other involves preserving the dialectical and irreducible tension between the theoretical contemplation of life and of historical conditions, as well as specific social systems. Heidegger＇s ontological philosophy concerning Dasein and Kant＇s categorical imperative will also be discussed in order to fully understand Adorno＇s moral philosophy and his idea of nonidentity. From my point of view, Adomo＇s moral philosophy is the prime motivator of his unique concept of nonidentity, and has influenced contemporary political philosophical concepts such as biopolitics （cf. G. Agamben）.

The ideology of Jihadi-Salafism seeks to suspend the dialectic through the positing of an ahistorical state which exists under an unmediated divine sovereignty,through the full exclusion of the“other”.Thus the period of the salaf is understood as a golden age,which can be revived without regard to historical context.The“Islamic State”is considered as existing directly under the rule(hakimiyya)of God by way of the shari’a code.There is an attempt to sever oneself from apostates by exercising al-walawa’l-bara and the practice of takfir.The reaching of the perfect end state,however,necessarily entails an activist pursuit of violent change whereby all opposition elements are forcibly removed.Despite its ahistorical pretension,the Islamist ideology developed through distinct stages in Islamic history.The present essay depicts the historical formation of the Jihadi-Salafi ideological principles by tracing back the trajectory.Through attention to the deductive logic implied in the principles,the paper reveals an absolute standpoint precluding the possibility for any form of mediation that has come to be formed.With the delineation of the reasoning underlying Jihadi-Salafi concepts,the basis for the rejection of dialectical development is demonstrated,as well as the implications of the absolutist standpoint for the intensification of extremism culminating in the“Islamic State”.
