Reaction bonded SiC(RBSiC) is attractive for optical application because of its favorable properties and low fabrication cost. However, the difficultness and cost involved in RBSiC grinding limit its application. The investigation on high efficient and low-cost machining with good grinding quality is desired. Generally, high efficient machining for RBSiC is realized by using coarse grain size grinding wheels, but serious grinding damage is inevitable. In this paper, monolayer nickel electroplated coarse grain size diamond grinding wheels with grain sizes of 46 μm, 91 μm, and 151 μm were applied to the grinding of RBSiC. An electrolytic in-process dressing(ELID) assisted conditioning technique was first developed by using cup shape copper bonded conditioning wheels with grain sizes of 15 μm and 91 μm to generate the conditioned coarse grain size wheels with minimized wheel run-out error within 2 μm, constant wheel peripheral envelop as well as top-flattened diamond grains. Then, the grinding experiments on RBSiC were carried out to investigate the grinding performance and material removal mechanism. The experimental results indicate that the developed conditioning technique is applicable and feasible to condition the coarse grain size diamond wheels under optimal conditioning parameters, and the material removal mechanism involved in RBSiC grinding is the combination of brittle fracture and ductile deformation to generate smooth ground surface. This research is significant for the high efficient and low-cost precision grinding of RBSiC with good ground surface quality. 展开更多

The composites were prepared through pressure infiltration of liquid copper into diamond preforms with a mixture of 40 and 100 pm-size diamonds. The permeability of the preforms with different coarse-to-fine volume ratios of diamonds was investigated. The thermal conductivity of the diamond/copper composites with bimodal size distribution was compared to the theoretical value derived from an analytical model developed by Chu. It is predicted that the diamond/copper composites could reach a higher thermal conductivity and their surface roughness could be improved by applying bimodal diamond particle sizes. 展开更多

Influences of grain size and microstructure on optical properties of microcrystalline diamond films

Microcrystalline diamond(MCD)films with different grain sizes ranging from 160 nm to 2200 nm are prepared by using a hot filament chemical vapor deposition(HFCVD)system,and the influences of grain size and structural features on optical properties are investigated.The results show that the film with grain size in a range of 160 nm–310 nm exhibits a higher refractive index in a range of(2.77–2.92).With grain size increasing to 620±300 nm,the refractive index shows a value between 2.39 and 2.47,approaching to that of natural diamond(2.37–2.55),and a lower extinction coefficient value between 0.08 and 0.77.When the grain size increases to 2200 nm,the value of refractive index increases to a value between 2.66 and 2.81,and the extinction coefficient increases to a value in a range of 0.22–1.28.Visible Raman spectroscopy measurements show that all samples have distinct diamond peaks located in a range of 1331 cm-1–1333 cm-1,the content of diamond phase increases gradually as grain size increases,and the amount of trans-polyacetylene(TPA)content decreases.Meanwhile,the sp2 carbon clusters content and its full-width-at-half-maximum(FWHM)value are significantly reduced in MCD film with a grain size of 620 nm,which is beneficial to the improvement of the optical properties of the films. 展开更多

The shrimp beam trawl fishery in the northern South China Sea is characterized by high by-catch and poor selectivity problems.Among by-catch species,banded scad(Caranx(Atule)kalla)is economically the most important one.The aim of this study is to improve the selective properties of codends for banded scad.Size selectivity of 2 traditional diamond mesh codends,with mesh size 25 and 30 mm(defined as D25 and D30,respectively),and 4 new combined square and diamond mesh codends,with25 mm square-mesh and 25 mm diamond-mesh(S25+D25),30 mm square-mesh and 25 mm diamondmesh(S30+D25),35 mm square-mesh and 25 mm diamond-mesh(S35+D25),and 35 mm square-mesh and18 mm diamond-mesh(S35+D18),were tested for banded scad in shrimp beam trawl fishery of the South China Sea.A total of 54 valid hauls were finished using the covered codend method,and 5750 banded scad were caught.Selective parameters were obtained using the logistic equation with the maximum likelihood method,by incorporating the between-haul variation.The results show that the present minimum mesh size for shrimp beam trawl in the South China Sea,25-mm diamond mesh size,is insufficient to release immature banded scad.The S35+D25 codend is proved to be the most eff ective codend to release immature banded scad,and its 50%retention length(L _(50))is larger than the minimum landing size(MLS=63.5 mm)of banded scad.However,the 95%confidence intervals of L _(50) overlap among the three combined mesh codends,the S25+D25,S30+D25 and S35+D25 codend.For a sustainable exploitation of banded scad,larger mesh sizes are suggested to be investigated for the combined mesh codends. 展开更多

Ti, Al, graphite and diamond powders were used as raw materials to prepare Ti_2AlC matrixbonded diamond composite using self-propagating high-temperature synthesis(SHS) method. The effect of diamond size and content on the fabrication of Ti_2AlC-bonded diamond material was investigated. Results showed that Ti_2AlC matrix-bonded diamond composites could be obtained by SHS. The phase composition and microstructure of the Ti_2AlC-bonded diamond material were influenced by the diamond content and size. When the diamond(93 μm) additive amounts were 10% and 20%, the product phases included Ti_2AlC, TiC and Al_3Ti. However, excess Ti and Al persisted in the sample that contained 30% diamond. Diamond bonded well with the matrix in the sample that contained 10% diamond. Moreover, addition of coarse diamond particles with sizes of 93 and 125 μm produced a mainly Ti_2AlC matrix. However, diamond adequately reacted with Ti to form TiC when finer diamond particles(5 and 10 μm) were used. 展开更多

The wear behaviour of composite coatings is related to the nature of embedded particles.The effects of particle size on the wear behaviour of composite coatings are analyzed.Electroless nickel composite coatings containing diamond particles with the sizes in the range of 0—0.5,0.5—1,1—2μm are prepared.The surface morphology of diamond particles and composite coatings are observed by scanning electron microscopy(SEM).The wear tests of composite coatings are comparatively evaluated by sliding against a cemented tungsten carbide ball.The 3D morphology of worn scar is evaluated by using a 3Dprofiler.The results show that the hardness and wear resistance of composite coatings can increase with the increase of particle sizes.The mixture mechanism of adhesive wear and abrasive wear turn into single abrasive wear with the increase of particle sizes as well.The transformation of wear behaviour is mainly attributed to particle roles during wear process. 展开更多

The dispersion behavior of micro-diamond particles ranging from 0 to 0.5 micron was compared between in DI water and in electroless nickel solution. The effects of the concentration of electroless solution, temperature, ultrasonic treatment, stirring speed, and baffles on the size distribution of micro diamond particles in electroless nickel solution were studied. Results show that the dispersion of micro diamond particles in DI water is obviously superior to that in electroless nickel solution. Micro diamond particles agglomerate evidently when the concentration of electroless solution Velect:VDI in dispersion media exceeds 5%0. Diamond particles agglomerate more and more seriously with the increase of the ion concentration. Applying ultrasonic, increasing stirring speed and adding baffles are helpful to improving the dispersion of diamond particles in the electroless nickel solution and its uniform distribution in the Ni-P coating. 展开更多

金刚石一次粒径对固结聚集体金刚石磨料垫加工性能与磨损过程的影响

目的探究金刚石颗粒的一次粒径对固结聚集体金刚石磨料垫磨损的影响规律,提高固结磨料垫的自修整、加工性能及经济耐用度。方法选择14、8、5、1μm等4种粒度的金刚石颗粒,采用烧结法制备聚集体金刚石磨料,并将其用于制备固结聚集体金刚... 目的探究金刚石颗粒的一次粒径对固结聚集体金刚石磨料垫磨损的影响规律,提高固结磨料垫的自修整、加工性能及经济耐用度。方法选择14、8、5、1μm等4种粒度的金刚石颗粒,采用烧结法制备聚集体金刚石磨料,并将其用于制备固结聚集体金刚石磨料垫。在CP-4抛光测试系统平台上开展研磨试验,在线获取加工过程中的力信号和摩擦因数。对比4种粒径的固结聚集体金刚石磨料垫的磨损速率、研磨比、研磨前后磨料垫的微观形貌、碎屑的形貌及尺寸分布,分析固结磨料垫的磨损过程及其演变规律。结果随着金刚石颗粒粒径的增大,固结聚集体金刚石磨料垫的磨损速率由0.2μm/min(金刚石颗粒为1μm)增加到3.5μm/min(金刚石颗粒为14μm),研磨比由2.02增加至14.33。大粒径(≥5μm)的固结磨料垫研磨后,表面仍有锋利的金刚石微切削刃,研磨过程中的切向力和摩擦因素保持稳定,固结聚集体金刚石磨料垫的磨损形式以金刚石颗粒的脱落为主;超细粒径(≤1μm)固结磨料垫表面的金刚石颗粒出现堵塞现象,并且研磨过程中的切向力和摩擦因数持续下降。结论随着金刚石颗粒的一次粒径增大,固结聚集体金刚石磨料垫的磨损速率增加,自修整能力、材料去除能力和加工过程稳定性得到提升,进入稳定磨损期的时间缩短。 展开更多

金刚石外延膜具有良好的热学、光学和化学稳定性,同时能够满足大尺寸的制备需求,是红外窗口和散热应用中理想的材料。受限于目前金刚石应用中尺寸较小等问题,制备大尺寸高质量的金刚石一直是人们追求的目标。本文采用自行研制的915 MHz/... 金刚石外延膜具有良好的热学、光学和化学稳定性,同时能够满足大尺寸的制备需求,是红外窗口和散热应用中理想的材料。受限于目前金刚石应用中尺寸较小等问题,制备大尺寸高质量的金刚石一直是人们追求的目标。本文采用自行研制的915 MHz/75 kW的微波等离子体化学气相沉积(MPCVD)设备,研究了不同沉积温度对直径8 inch(1 inch=25.4 mm)的金刚石膜沉积的影响,并通过SEM和Raman对其进行表征分析。结果表明,沉积温度会影响金刚石膜的晶体取向和结晶质量,过低的温度不利于金刚石膜规则地取向生长;而过高的温度会产生sp2石墨相,降低金刚石膜的结晶质量和取向生长。本文最终在1000°C的沉积温度和1.0%的甲烷浓度(甲烷与氢气流量之比为0.01)下成功制备了具有良好的结晶质量和厚度均匀的8 inch(111)取向的金刚石外延膜,该外延膜具有较低的氮杂质含量,生长表面均匀,无生长裂纹产生,晶粒尺寸在3~5 mm。红外透过测试结果表明12μm处的透过率达到了67.8%,8~12μm之间的平均透过率为67.3%。 展开更多

采用热丝化学气相沉积法在不同晶粒度(0.4、0.6、1.0和2.0μm)的YG6硬质合金表面沉积硼掺杂金刚石涂层,通过扫描电镜、X射线衍射仪、拉曼光谱仪及洛氏硬度计对金刚石涂层的形貌、结构、成分、结合性能等进行分析,研究硬质合金晶粒度对... 采用热丝化学气相沉积法在不同晶粒度(0.4、0.6、1.0和2.0μm)的YG6硬质合金表面沉积硼掺杂金刚石涂层,通过扫描电镜、X射线衍射仪、拉曼光谱仪及洛氏硬度计对金刚石涂层的形貌、结构、成分、结合性能等进行分析,研究硬质合金晶粒度对金刚石涂层生长和结合性能的影响。结果表明,随硬质合金的晶粒度从0.4μm增大到2.0μm,金刚石的晶粒尺寸逐渐增大且均匀性更好,金刚石拉曼峰和石墨拉曼峰的峰强比(I_(D)/I_(G))从4.74增加到6.53。膜基结合性能与涂层的内应力、金刚石的半峰宽之间都有较好的相关性,均受基体合金晶粒错配度的影响,涂层的内应力还受掺硼的影响。当硬质合金晶粒度为2.0μm时,金刚石涂层的I_(D)/I_(G)比值最大,为6.53;涂层的内应力最小,仅为1.588 GPa;膜基结合性能最优,在600 N压力下达到HF1级。 展开更多

为改善硬质合金刀具金刚石涂层的质量,提高金刚石涂层的形核密度以提升涂层的均匀性,本文采用热丝化学气相沉积法,在YG8硬质合金基体表面沉积纳米金刚石,研究籽晶种植和形核阶段掺硼对金刚石涂层形核和生长的影响。结果表明:采用质量浓... 为改善硬质合金刀具金刚石涂层的质量,提高金刚石涂层的形核密度以提升涂层的均匀性,本文采用热丝化学气相沉积法,在YG8硬质合金基体表面沉积纳米金刚石,研究籽晶种植和形核阶段掺硼对金刚石涂层形核和生长的影响。结果表明:采用质量浓度为1.0 g/L的氢端基纳米金刚石悬浊液进行籽晶种植时,样品表面籽晶密度最高、分布最均匀,后续生长的金刚石晶粒更加细小均匀,改善了涂层的均匀性和平整度。掺硼形核可抑制金刚石涂层中石墨相的形成,提高金刚石涂层的纯度,但硼的掺入使金刚石峰(D峰)的半峰宽(full width at half maximum,FWHM)增大,对金刚石结晶产生不利影响。籽晶种植可使涂层D峰的FWHM从17.43 cm^(−1)降低为10.91 cm^(−1),提升了掺硼形核阶段的结晶质量,削弱了掺硼的不利影响。将掺硼和籽晶种植相结合,所得金刚石晶粒尺寸最小约1~3μm,此时金刚石与石墨的拉曼峰强度比(ID/IG)高达12.83,涂层质量较好。此外在籽晶种植与掺硼形核共同作用下,金刚石涂层的结合性能显著提高,在600 N载荷下可达到HF1级别。 展开更多
