In the condition of TB=843 K, PB=16 MPa, tB= 60 min, the diffusion bonded joint, with a shear strength of 235 MPa, was obtained when a 15 μm thick interlayer was used. The results of the shear testing and SEM indicate that fracture of the joint presented characteristics of ductile rupture.展开更多

The experimental process and influencing factors were discussed....Metallization of the ceramic surfaces of Si3N4 and Al2O3 was carried out in a composite diffusion coating vacuum furnace using a Ti-Cu composite target. The experimental process and influencing factors were discussed. Optical microscope (OM) , energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) , scanning electron microscopy (SEM) , X-ray diffusion (XRD) and sound emissive scratch test (SEST) were applied to evaluate the alloy layer formed on the ceramic surface. It was indicated that the diffusion coating alloy layer contained Cu, Ti, Fe, Al and Si etc. XRD result indicated that the diffusion coating alloy layer was composed of CuTi2, Cu, Si2 Ti and CuTi, Al2 TiO5 , Ti3O5. It was found that the diffusion coating alloy layer got bonded with ceramic well, and no spaUation occurred under the maximum load of 100 N. Deposited Si3N4 ceramic was welded with Q235 and the joining quality was examined. Robust joint was formed between Si3N4 ceramic/Q235. This present method has advantages in high efficiency and low cost and provides a new approach for producing ceramic and metal bond.展开更多

The samples were characterized by UV-Vis absorption spectroscopy, photoluminescence spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS), and lifetime measurements. The experimental results show that the growth of silver clusters is favored by the annealing temperature and dwell time. The as-diffused and annealed glass samples show photoluminescence around 550 nm under UV excitation, which can be associated with the presence of L-center and Ag3~+ cluster. And the increasing of the annealing temperature and dwell time results in an appearance of the SPR peak and the decreasing of the luminescence intensities because the Ag3~+ clusters grow up into the Ag nanoparticles.展开更多
Jute is a natural fiber widely used as reinforcement in composites due to its high tensile strength and stiffness,but they can easily absorb water and have their physical properties compromised.The water absorption pr...Jute is a natural fiber widely used as reinforcement in composites due to its high tensile strength and stiffness,but they can easily absorb water and have their physical properties compromised.The water absorption properties of jute/polyester composites are evaluated according to ASTM D 570 and the effect of humidity in the composite mechanical behavior is also analyzed.The composite showed a pseudo-Fickian behavior and gained 13.37%in weight after the test.It also lost tensile strength and elasticity modulus,and increased its specific deformation.Scanning electron microscope images showed that wet specimens were more subject to cracks,voids and fiber pullout than dry specimens.Failures produced by water diffusion in composite and polymer plasticization,added to breakdown in the fibers’cellulosic structures,justify the change in mechanical properties due to water absorption.展开更多

Magnesium matrix composites reinforced with AlN particles were fabricated by the powder metallurgy technique.Different mixing methods were used in this study to control the distribution of Al N particles.The microstru...Magnesium matrix composites reinforced with AlN particles were fabricated by the powder metallurgy technique.Different mixing methods were used in this study to control the distribution of Al N particles.The microstructure,thermal diffusivity and thermal expansion of the Mg–Al/Al N composites using different mixing methods were investigated.The results showed that the intergranular and intragranular distributions of Al N particles were obtained,respectively,by controlling the mixing methods.The composite with intragranular particles exhibited lower thermal diffusivity because of the existences of more interfaces,defects and grain boundaries,which acted as scattering centers and reduced the mean free path of electrons and phonons.The existence of Al N particles lowered the coefficient of thermal expansion(CTE)and enhanced the dimensional stability of the composites.And the use of the improved mixing method further reduced the CTE of Mg–Al/Al N composites.展开更多
