This study is focused on the effect of boron addition, in the range of 0.0007wt% to 0.03wt%, on the microstructure and stress-rupture properties of a directionally solidified superalloy. With increasing boron content in the as-cast alloys, there is an increase in the fraction of the γ′/γ eutectic and block borides precipitate around the γ′/γ eutectic. At a high boron content of 0.03wt%, there is precipitation of lamellar borides. Upon heat treatment, fine block borides tend to precipitate at grain boundaries with increasing boron content. Overall, the rupture life of the directionally solidified superalloy is significantly improved with the addition of nominal content of boron. However, the rupture life decreases when the boron content exceeds 0.03wt%. 展开更多

Semiconductor nanocrystals directly grown on the conducting metal can lower the contact resistance and can benefit the electron transfer between the semiconductor and the metal. In the present work, CdO nanocrystals are directly synthesized on the conducting Cd foil through a simple solvothermal method. Cd foil is used as the Cd2+ source and the substrate. The average size of CdO nanocrystals is -23.1 nm by analyzing the XRD data. Moreover the growth mechanism is discussed. A hierarchic structure characterized by the nano rods and nano particles in the top and bottom layers, respectively, can be observed. From the UV-vis absorption analyzed by Taucs relation, the two different optical band gaps are obtained. The photoluminescence spectrum is obtained and studied. 展开更多

This study investigated the effect of transcranial direct current stimulation(t DCS) polarity depending on lateralized function of task property in normal individuals performing visuomotor and simple repetitive tasks. Thirty healthy participants with no neurological disorders were recruited to participate in this study. Participants were randomly allocated into active or control condition. For the active condition, t DCS intensity was 2 m A with stimulation applied for 15 minutes to the right hemisphere(t DCS condition). For the sham control, electrodes were placed in the same position, but the stimulator was turned off after 30 seconds(sham condition). The tapping and tracking task tests were performed before and after for both conditions. Univariate analysis revealed significant difference only in the tracking task. For direct comparison of both tasks within each group, the tracking task had significantly higher Z score than the tapping task in the t DCS group(P 〈 0.05). Thus, our study indicates that stimulation of the right hemisphere using t DCS can effectively improve visuomotor(tracking) task over simple repetitive(tapping) task. 展开更多

This work explores a family of two-block nonconvex optimization problems subject to linear constraints.We first introduce a simple but universal Bregman-style improved alternating direction method of multipliers(ADMM)based on the iteration framework of ADMM and the Bregman distance.Then,we utilize the smooth performance of one of the components to develop a linearized version of it.Compared to the traditional ADMM,both proposed methods integrate a convex combination strategy into the multiplier update step.For each proposed method,we demonstrate the convergence of the entire iteration sequence to a unique critical point of the augmented Lagrangian function utilizing the powerful Kurdyka–Łojasiewicz property,and we also derive convergence rates for both the sequence of merit function values and the iteration sequence.Finally,some numerical results show that the proposed methods are effective and encouraging for the Lasso model. 展开更多

The microstructure, microsegregation, and mechanical properties of directional solidified Mg–3.0Nd–1.5Gd ternary alloys were experimentally studied. Experimental results showed that the solidification microstructure was composed of dendrite primary a(Mg) phase and interdendritic a(Mg) · Mg12(Nd, Gd) eutectic and Mg5 Gd phase. The primary dendrite arm spacing k1 and secondary dendrite arm spacing k2 were found to be depended on the cooling rate R in the form k1= 8.0415 9 10-6R-0.279 and k2= 6.8883 9 10-6R-0.205, respectively, under the constant temperature gradient of40 K/mm and in the region of cooling rates from 0.4 to 4 K/s. The concentration profiles of Nd and Gd elements calculated by Scheil model were found to be deviated from the ones measured by EPMA to varying degrees, due to ignorance of the back diffusion of the solutes Nd and Gd within a(Mg) matrix. And microsegregation of Gd depended more on the growth rate, compared with Nd microsegregation. The directionally solidified experimental alloy exhibited higher strength than the non-directionally solidified alloy, and the tensile strength of the directionally solidified experimental alloy was improved,while the corresponding elongation decreased with the increase of growth rate. 展开更多

When sourcet target and receiver have complicated triangular configuration, the relationships among target strength, incidence angle and bistatic angle are obtained. The validity of this theory is verified by theoretical calculations and tank experiments. Nickel coated diamond composite powders were fabricated via a newly developed direct electrodeposition technique. The effects of activators on the coating of diamond were firstly investigated and diamond grinding wheels were then prepared from Ni-coated diamond composite powders with different activators. The microstructural characterizations of this composite powders were finally conducted by scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive spectroscopy, and X-ray diffraction, and the mechanical and tribological properties of as-prepared diamond grinding wheels were also measured. There are changes in microstructures and properties of the composite powders with activators. The activator concentration also has an influence on the morphologies and phase structures of the Ni coating on diamond particles.The composite powders with more compact coating of nickel can be prepared by adding 1 g dm^(-3) or more AgNO_3 as an activator to electrodeposit nickel on diamond. The mechanical and tribological properties of diamond grinding wheels were significantly improved when the coating phase structure of Ni crystal grew with(111) plane orientation on the surface of diamond particles. The wheels made from nickel coated diamond composite powders possessed the advantages of easy preparation and outstanding tribological properties. Therefore, Ni coated diamond composite powders exhibit a great potential to be extensively applied in diamond cutting and grinding tools. 展开更多
