On the basis of the relation, frequency number distribution function of wave group arrival time is completely equivalent to that of phase difference spectra. Under the assumption that phase angles of seismic motionobey uniform distribution ranged from 0 to ─ 2π, a quantitative relation between intensity envelope function of seismic motion and energy distribution function with wave group arrival time has been derived in this paper. The relation illuminates inner links among Fourier amplitude spectra and derivative of phase spectra and intensity envelope function. Firstly, stochastic activity networks were modeled as continuous-time Markov process with a single absorbing state by the well-know method of supplementary variables and the time changed from the initial state to absorbing state is equal to the project completion time. Then, the Markov process was regarded as a special case of Markov skeleton process.By taking advantage of the backward equations of Markov skeleton processes,a backward algorithm was proposed to compute the probability distribution of the project completion time. Finally,a numerical example was solved to demonstrate the performance of the proposed methodology. The results show that the proposed algorithm is capable of computing the exact distribution function of the project completion time, and the expectation and variance are obtained.展开更多

Based on the semigroup theory, by applying the multiple Lyapunov function method, the exponential stabilization conditions are derived. These conditions are given in the form of linear operator inequalities where the decision variables are operators in the Hilbert space; while the stabilization properties depend on the switching rule. Being applied to the two-dimensional heat switched propagation equations with the Dirichlet boundary conditions, these linear operator inequalities are transformed into standard linear matrix inequalities. This system monitors these wastages over the sequence of exit epochs {t0 = 0 and tk;k = 1, 2,…} that form a recurrent process and admit recruitment when the cumulative loss of man hours crosses a threshold level Y, which is also called the breakdown level. It is assumed that the inter-exit times Tk = tk-1 - tk, k = 1, 2,… are independent and identically distributed random variables with a common cumulative distribution function (CDF) B(t) = P(Tk t) which has a tail 1 – B(t) behaving like t-v with 1 v as t → ∞. The amounts {Xk} of wastages incurred during these inter-exit times {Tk} are independent and identically distributed random variables with CDF P(Xk X) = G(x) and Y is distributed, independently of {Xk} and {tk}, as an exponentiated exponential law with CDF H(y) = P(Y y) = (1 - e-λy)n. The mean waiting time to break down of the system has been obtained assuming B(t) to be heavy tailed and as well as light tailed. For the exponential case of G(x), a comparative study has also been made between heavy tailed mean waiting time to break down and light tailed mean waiting time to break down values. The recruitment policy operating under the heavy tailed case is shown to be more economical in all types of manpower systems.展开更多

In fact, the properties of norms and the contraction principle are adjusted to ensure the existence as well as the uniqueness of the pseudo almost periodic solution, which is also its derivative pseudo almost periodic. This results are without resorting to the theory of exponential dichotomy. Furthermore, by employing the suitable Lyapunov function, some delayindependent sufficient conditions are derived for exponential convergence. The main originality lies in the fact that spaces considered in this paper generalize the notion of periodicity and almost periodicity. Lastly, two examples are given to demonstrate the validity of the proposed theoretical results.展开更多

To carry out such tests, it is often necessary to calculate two kinds of run count probabilities: 1) the probability that a certain number of trials results in a specified multiple occurrence of an event, or 2) the probability that a specified number of occurrences of an event take place within a fixed number of trials. The use of appropriate generating functions provides a systematic procedure for obtaining the distribution functions of these probabilities. This paper examines relationships among the generating functions applicable to recurrent runs and discusses methods, employing symbolic mathematical software, for implementing numerical extraction of probabilities. In addition, the asymptotic form of the cumulative distribution function is derived, which allows accurate runs statistics to be obtained for sequences of trials so large that computation times for extraction of this information from the generating functions could be impractically long.展开更多

We incorporate both virus-to-cell and cell-to-cell transmissions into the model. We incorporate a distributed-time delay to describe the time between the HCV or infected cell contacts an uninfected hepatocyte and the emission of new active HCV. We show that the solutions of the proposed model are nonnegative and ultimately bounded. We derive two threshold parameters which fully determine the existence and stability of the three steady states of the model. Using Lyapunov functionals, we established the global stability of the steady states. The theoretical results are confirmed by numerical simulations.展开更多

Such channels are analyzed by two state model, namely satisfactory and outage state. This paper presents the analysis to estimate fading parameters of wireless channel with omission of certain outage durations which are considered as “Tolerance time”. Minimum outage duration which can be tolerated by a wireless fading channel to achieve desired packet error rate is defined as tolerance time. Normally a system with tolerable minimum outage time is analyzed based on Fade Duration Distribution (FDD) function over Rayleigh channel. In this paper Weibull function is used as FDD for varying tolerance time. The approach is simple and in general applicable from Rayleigh to Nakagami channels. The analysis is extended to study the effect of Tolerance time on channel fading statistics such as Average Fade Duration (AFD) and frequency of outage. Further the effects of various fade margin and Doppler spread on fading parameters are also investigated. The analysis can also be used in case of timeout expiration, connection resetting and congestion window control.展开更多
