Data of geographic information systems (GIS) including the distance of distribution line and location of load being key parameter of PEA is simulated using digital simulation and electrical network calculation program (DIgSILENT) to analyze power loss of the distribution system. In addition, the capacity and location of DG installed into the distribution system is considered. The results are shown that, when DG is installed close to the substation, the electrical line losses are reduced. However, if DG capacity becomes larger and the distance between DG and load is longer, the electrical line losses tend to increase. The results of this paper can be used to create the suitability and fairness of the fee for both DG and utility.展开更多

Data of geographic information systems (GIS) including the distance of distribution line and location of load that are parameter of PEA is simulated using digital simulation and electrical network calculation program (DIgSILENT) to analyze the impact of reliability with the installing DG into the distribution system. The system average interruption frequency index (SAIFI), the system average interruption duration index (SAIDI) and interruption cost are assessed as index of reliability by comparing the SAIFI, SAIDI, and interruption cost between the base case (no DG) and the case that DG connected to the distribution system. The results can be summarized by focusing on location of DG, the capacity of DG, the size of load, and the distance of load which are factors able to impact to SAIFI, SAIDI, and interruption cost.展开更多

The time-sequence characteristic and randomness of load, wind and photovoltaic (PV) generation are analyzed;the indices and risk levels of voltage limit violation probability of node and distribution line are proposed. By using probabilistic load flow based on semi-invariant method, the impact degrees of voltage limit violation are calculated with different distributed power penetration levels, different seasons, different time periods, different allocation ratio between the wind power and PV power. Voltage limit violation laws of distribution line, which are concluded by IEEE33 bus system simulation, are very helpful to guide the voltage?regulation of distribution line including distributed generation.展开更多

Neplan desktop power simulation tool was used for the modelling and simulation of a realistic MV network with four different distributed generation technologies (diesel, gas, hydro and wind) along with their excitation and governor control systems, while an exponential model was used to represent the loads in the network. The dynamic and steady state behavior of the four distributed generation technologies were investigated during grid-connected operation and two transition modes to the islanding situation, planned and unplanned. Consequently, the traditional protection arrangements developed in distribution utilities are difficult in coordination. Also, the reclosing scheme would be affected. With the rapid developments in distribution system automation and communication technology, the protection coordination and reclosing scheme based on information exchange for distribution power system can be realized flexibly. This paper proposes a multi-agent based scheme for fault diagnosis in power distribution networks with distributed generators. The relay agents are located such that the distribution network is divided into several sections. The relay agents measure the bus currents at which they are located such that it can detect and classify the fault, and determine the fault location. The proposed technique uses the entropy of wavelet coefficients of the measured bus currents. The performance of the proposed protection scheme is tested through simulation of two systems. The first system is a benchmark medium voltage (MV) distribution system and the second system is practical 66 kV system of the city of Alexandria.展开更多

Harmonic content of PV generation, EV charging loads, and their influence on power quality indicators in residential distribution networks are discussed in this paper. For investigating likely power quality scenarios, PV generation and EV charging measurement results including current harmonic amplitude and phase angle values are used and compared with present load characteristics. Different modelling scenarios are analysed and a simplified model of harmonics in PVs and EVs is offered. The results of the study show moderate additional harmonic distortion in residential load current and voltage distortion at the substation’s busbar when PV generation and EV loading are added. The scenarios presented in this paper can be further used for modelling the actual harmonic loads of the PVs and EVs in distribution networks.展开更多

文摘This paper proposes to study the impacts of electrical line losses due to the connection of distributed generators (DG) to 22kV distribution system of Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA). The results of this paper can be used to create the suitability and fairness of the fee for both DG and utility.
文摘The main purpose of this paper is to study the reliability due to the employment of distributed generations (DG) integrated to distribution system. The system under this study is from Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) that is a part of Thailand’s distribution system. The results can be summarized by focusing on location of DG, the capacity of DG, the size of load, and the distance of load which are factors able to impact to SAIFI, SAIDI, and interruption cost.
文摘Considering the time-sequence characteristic and randomness of load and natural resources, ?this paper studies on the distributed generation (DG) impacts on voltage limit violation probability of distribution lines. Voltage limit violation laws of distribution line, which are concluded by IEEE33 bus system simulation, are very helpful to guide the voltage?regulation of distribution line including distributed generation.
文摘This paper proposes to study the coordination of protective devices when 8 MW synchronous generators are interconnected to distribution System of PEA. The coordination between recloser and drop out fuse is investigated in this paper. The three-phase fault is simulated using digital simulation and electrical network calculation program (DIgSILENT). The results are shown that the short circuit current from substation is reduced comparing to the distribution system without DG connected. It causes to protective device coordination inconsistently, so the maintenance will be delayed more than expected.
文摘A distributed generation system(DG)has several benefits over a traditional centralized power system. However, the protection area in the case of the distributed generator requires special attention as it encounters stability loss, failure re-closure,fluctuations in voltage, etc. And thereby,it demands immediate attention in identifying the location&type of a fault without delay especially when occurred in a small, distributed generation system,as it would adversely affect the overall system and its operation. In the past, several methods were proposed for classification and localisation of a fault in a distributed generation system. Many of those methods were accurate in identifying location, but the accuracy in identifying the type of fault was not up to the acceptable mark. The proposed work here uses a shallow artificial neural network(sANN)model for identifying a particular type of fault that could happen in a specific distribution network when used in conjunction with distributed generators.Firstly,a distribution network consisting of two similar distributed generators(DG1 and DG2),one grid, and a 100 Km distribution line is modeled.Thereafter, different voltages and currents corresponding to various faults(line to line, line to ground)at different locations are tabulated, resulting in a matrix of 500×18 inputs.Secondly, the sANN is formulated for identifying the types of faults in the system in which the above-obtained data is used to train, validate, and test the neural network. The overall result shows an unprecedented almost zero percent error in identifying the type of the faults.
文摘Combining with the characteristics of China's energy and the strategy of sustainable development, analyzing the pros and cons which caused by the appearance of DG and their operation connecting to grid, this paper points out that the two sides can achieve win-win under a reasonable combination between DG and distribution system, so as to optimize the allocation of resources, improve the utilization ratio of resource, and obtain maximum social benefit, harmoniously promote the development of power industry, economy and environment. As a word, this paper puts forward a new model of distribution network planning including DG and brings in penalty factorto guide the investment and construction of DG. Last of all, this paper presents the adoption of the coordination development coefficients which is to evaluate the power planning.

文摘In the present paper, the distribution feeder reconfiguration in the presence of distributed generation resources(DGR)and energy storage systems(ESS)is solved in the dynamic form.Since studies on the reconfiguration problem have ignored the grid security and reliability, the non-distributed energy index along with the energy loss and voltage stability indices has been assumed as the objective functions of the given problem. To achieve the mentioned benefits, there are several practical plans in the distribution network. One of these applications is the network rearrangement plan, which is the simplest and least expensive way to add equipment to the network.Besides,by adding the DGRs to the distribution grid, the radial mode of the grid and the one-sided passage of power are eliminated, and the ordinary and simple grid is replaced with a complex grid.In this paper,an improved particle clustering algorithm is used to solve the distribution network rearrangement problem with the presence of distributed generation sources. The PQ model and the PV model are both considered, and for this purpose,a model based on the compensation technique is used to model the PV busbars. The proposed developed model has particularly improved the local and global search of this algorithm. The reconfiguration problem is discussed and investigated considering different scenarios in a standard 33-bus grid as a well-known power system in different scenarios in the presence and absence of the DGRs.Then, the obtained results are compared.
文摘This paper presentsa voltage control strategy for power distribution systems with interconnected renewable energy based distributed generators (DGs). The control strategy coordinating conventional voltage control devices and reactive power from DG.A mixed-integer nonlinear programming problem was formulated and solved by particle swarm optimization (PSO). The code is written using DigSILENT programming language (DPL) and implemented inside DigSILENT power factory simulation software. All system constraints and operating limits are considered. The optimal power flow based approach can incorporate various uncertainties such as intermittent power characteristics and varying load demand. The proposed method is tested using real distribution network to demonstrate its effectiveness. The merits of the proposed method over the classical local-based control are presented in the simulation results. It is demonstrated that the proposed method is capable of keeping the system voltage within operating limit. Power losses is at the same time is minimized in comparison to the losses using conventional method.
文摘This study aims to address the feasibility of planned islanding operation and to investigate the effect of unplanned islanding using the master-slave islanding method for controlling the distributed generation units during grid-connected and islanding operation. The obtained results that validated through various case studies have shown that a suitable planned islanding transition could provide support to critical loads at the event of electricity utility outages.
文摘The penetration of distributed generation (DG) in distribution power system would affect the traditional fault current level and characteristics. The first system is a benchmark medium voltage (MV) distribution system and the second system is practical 66 kV system of the city of Alexandria.
文摘The high utilization level of renewable generation including residential photovoltaic (PV) systems together with the uncontrolled charging of electric vehicles (EVs) can have a significant impact on load characteristics in distribution networks. The scenarios presented in this paper can be further used for modelling the actual harmonic loads of the PVs and EVs in distribution networks.
