In deep hard rock excavation, stress plays a pivotal role in inducing stress-controlled failure. While the impact of excavation-induced stress disturbance on rock failure and tunnel stability has undergone comprehensive examination through laboratory tests and numerical simulations, its validation through insitu stress tests remains unexplored. This study analyzes the three-dimensional stress changes in the surrounding rock at various depths, monitored during the excavation of B2 Lab in China Jinping Underground Laboratory Phase Ⅱ(CJPL-Ⅱ). The investigation delves into the three-dimensional stress variation characteristics in deep hard rock, encompassing stress components and principal stress. The results indicate changes in both the magnitude and direction of the principal stress during tunnel excavation. To quantitatively describe the degree of stress disturbance, a series of stress evaluation indexes are established based on the distances between stress tensors, including the stress disturbance index(SDI), the principal stress magnitude disturbance index(SDIm), and the principal stress direction disturbance index(SDId). The SDI indicates the greatest stress disturbance in the surrounding rock is 4.5 m from the tunnel wall in B2 Lab. SDIm shows that the principal stress magnitude disturbance peaks at2.5 m from the tunnel wall. SDId reveals that the largest change in principal stress direction does not necessarily occur near the tunnel wall but at a specific depth from it. The established relationship between SDI and the depth of the excavation damaged zone(EDZ) can serve as a criterion for determining the depth of the EDZ in deep hard rock engineering. Additionally, it provides a reference for future construction and support considerations. 展开更多

This work studies the trajectory tracking control for unmanned aerial helicopter(UAH)system under both matched disturbance and mismatched ones.Initially,to tackle the strong coupling,an input-output feedback linearization method is utilized to simplify the nonlinear UAH system.Secondly,a set of finite-time disturbance observers(FTDOs)are proposed to estimate mismatched disturbances with their successive derivatives, which are utilized to design the feedforward controller via backstepping.Thirdly,as for matched disturbance,by defining the disturbance characterization index(DCI)to determine whether the disturbance is harmful or not for the UAH system,a feedback controller is proposed and a sufficient condition is established to ensure the convergence of the tracking error. Finally, some numerical simulations and comparisons illustrate the validity and advantages of our control scheme. 展开更多

Due to unabated anthropogenic exploitations, mangrove forests globally are constantly under pressure and degradation, which may result in the reduction of ecosystem functioning and biodiversity. Molluscan fauna, which is one of the main macroinvertebrates that play a major ecological role in nutrient dynamics in mangroves, are sensitive to the changes in their habitat. This survey aims to assess the impact of anthropogenic activities on the diversity of molluscs’ communities in the mangrove forest. Anthropogenic disturbances within 20 sampling sites were valued at six mangrove stands and patched scoring the degree of influence according to vegetation, structure, waste and trampling. Molluscs were caught by hand and counted within 1 × 1 m2 plots placed at three points distant of 50 m established using a straight line transect of 100 m. Upon the 20 sites investigated, five were slightly disturbed, eight moderately disturbed and seven sites were highly disturbed. The mean abundance of molluscs decreased from slightly disturbed areas (172.25 ± 73.09 Ind<span style="white-space:nowrap;"><span style="white-space:nowrap;">&#183;</span></span>m<span style="white-space:nowrap;">&#8722;</span>2) to highly disturbed areas (100.57 ± 62.84 Ind<span style="white-space:nowrap;"><span style="white-space:nowrap;">&#183;</span></span>m<span style="white-space:nowrap;">&#8722;</span>2). Highly disturbed areas have shown lower species richness (R = 1.09 ± 0.15) and diversity (H’ = 2.30 ± 0.31). Human activities in the mangrove forest could particularly have effects on the diversity of molluscs, however, feature potential conservation measures have to be in harmony with the needs of the local population. 展开更多

This paper addresses an infinite horizon distributed H2/H∞ filtering for discrete-time systems under conditions of bounded power and white stochastic signals. The filter algorithm is designed by computing a pair of gains namely the estimator and the coupling. Herein, we implement a filter to estimate unknown parameters such that the closed-loop multi-sensor accomplishes the desired performances of the proposed H2 and H∞ schemes over a finite horizon. A switched strategy is implemented to switch between the states once the operation conditions have changed due to disturbances. It is shown that the stability of the overall filtering-error system with H2/H∞ performance can be established if a piecewise-quadratic Lyapunov function is properly constructed. A simulation example is given to show the effectiveness of the proposed approach. 展开更多

Forest fires, whether caused naturally or by human activity can have disastrous effects on the environment.Turkey, located in the Mediterranean climate zone, experiences hundreds of forest fires every year.Over the past two decades, these fires have destroyed approximately 308000 ha of forest area, threatening the sustainability of its ecosystem. This study analyzes the forest fire that occurred in the Menderes region of Izmir on July 1,2017,by using pre-and post-fire Sentinel 2(10 m and 20 m)and Landsat 8(30 m)satellite images,MODIS and VIIRS fire radiative power(FRP)data(1000 m and 375 m,respectively),and reference data obtained from a field study.Hence, image processing techniques integrated with the Geographic Information System(GIS)database were applied to a satellite image data set to monitor, analyze, and map the effects of the forest fire. The results show that the land surface temperature(LST)of the burned forest area increased from 1 to 11°C.A high correlation(R=0.81)between LST and burn severity was also determined. The burned areas were calculated using two different classification methods, and their accuracy was compared with the reference data.According to the accuracy assessment, the Sentinel(10 m)image classification gave the best result(96.43%for Maximum Likelihood, and 99.56%for Support Vector Machine). The relationship between topographical/forest parameters, burn severity and disturbance index was evaluated for spatial pattern distribution.According to the results, the areas having canopy closure between 71%–100%and slope above 35%had the highest burn incidence. As a final step,a spatial correlation analysis was performed to evaluate the effectiveness of MODIS and VIIRS FRP data in the postfire analysis.A high correlation was found between FRPslope, and FRP-burn severity(0.96 and 0.88,respectively). 展开更多

When a modular multilevel converter based high voltage direct current(MMC-HVDC)system operates under grid faults, there will be a phase difference between the grid voltage and the converter output. It can be caused by grid voltage phase shifting and the integration effect of the phase-locked loop(PLL)in the converter. The system may exhibit an undesirable transient process with expanded current which is harmful for the converter devices. In this paper,a transient current estimation method is proposed for the scenario of converter-grid phase difference caused by the frequency shifting of the grid side.A piecewise phase calculation model is established to determine the transient phase difference of the system. Then, according to the maximum phase difference calculated by the model, the system stability is assessed and the maximum value of system transient current can be estimated after comparing the maximum phase difference with the critical phase difference and π,Finally, the current estimation results are verified by detailed circuit simulations of a 21-level MMC-HVDC system built in PSCAD. 展开更多
