Definitions of wide/narrow ice-resistant conical structures, according to ice-induced vibration, are directly related to structure width, sea ice parameters, and clearing modes of broken ice. This paper proposes three clearing modes for broken ice acting on conical structures: complete clearing, temporary ice pile up, and ice pile up. In this paper, sea ice clearing modes and the formation requirements of dynamic ice force are analyzed to explore criteria determining wide/narrow ice-resistant conical structures. According to the direct measurement data of typical prototype structures, quantitative criteria of the ratio of a cone width at waterline(D) to sea ice thickness(h) is proposed. If the ratio is less than 30(narrow conical structure), broken ice is completely cleared and a dynamic ice force is produced; however, if the ratio is larger than 50(wide conical structure), the front stacking of broken ice or dynamic ice force will not occur.展开更多

As the commonest zoonotic infection worldwide, human brucellosis can mimic a large number of diseases, including Sp A. This study was performed to determine the frequency of rheumatologic manifestations in patients with brucellosis and the chance of misdiagnosing them as having ax Sp A in central China. The results showed that clinical manifestations of ax Sp A could be observed in brucellosis. Over half of patients had back pain, and one fifth of the patients with back pain were less than 45 years old at onset and had the symptom for more than 3 months. Two young males were falsely classified as suffering from ax Sp A according to the ASAS criteria, and one with MRI proved sacroiliitis was once given Etanercept for treatment. Therefore, differential diagnosis including human brucellosis should always be kept in mind when applying the ASAS criteria, even in traditionally non-endemic areas.展开更多

First, linear programming is constructed by classification to reference alternative set (assignment examples) and incomplete certain information on criterion's weights. Then the coefficient of the polynomial aggregation function and thresholds of categories are gained by solving the linear programming. And the consistency index of alternatives is obtained, the classification of the alternatives is achieved. The certain criteria's values of categories and uncertain criteria's values of categories are discussed in the method. Finally, an example shows the feasibility and availability of this method.展开更多

We show how detailed vegetation plot data can be used to assess the potential impact of inundation by a proposed hydroelectricity dam in the Mokihinui gorge, New Zealand, on representation of natural forests. Specifically we ask: 1) How well are the types of forest represented Locally, regionally, and nationally; and 2) How does the number of distinct communities (i.e. beta diversity) in the target catchment compare with other catchments nationally? Methods: For local and regional comparisons plant species composition was recorded on 45 objectively located 400 m2 vegetation plots established in each of three gorges, with one being the proposed inundation area of the Mokihinui lower gorge. The fuzzy classification framework of noise clustering was used to assign these plots to a specific alliance and association of a pre-existing national-scale classification. NationaLly, we examined the relationship between the number of alliances and associations in a catchment and either catchment size or the number of plots per catchment by fitting Generalised Additive Models. Results: The four alliances and five associations that were observed in the Mokihinui lower gorge arepresent in the region but limited locally. One association was narrowly distributed nationally, but is the mostfrequent association in the Mokihinui lower gorge; inundation may have consequences of national importance to its long-term persistence. That the Mokihinui lower gorge area had nearly twice as many plots that could not be assigned to pre- existing alliances and associations than either the Mokihinui upper or the Karamea lower gorges and proportionally more than the national dataset emphasises the compositional distinctiveness of this gorge. These outlier plots in the Mokihinui lower gorge may be unsorted assemblages of species or reflect sampling bias or that native- dominated woody riparian vegetation is rare on the landscape. At a national scale, the Mokihinui catchment has a higher diversity of forest alliances and associations (i.e. beta-diversity) than predicted based on catchment size and sampling intensity. Conclusions: Our analytical approach demonstrates one transparent solution to a common conservation planning problem: assessing how well ecosystems that will be destroyed by a proposed land-use change are represented using a multi-scale spatial and compositional framework. We provide a useful tool for assessing potential consequences of land-use change that can help guide decision making.展开更多

We performed NBI-ME for 147 patients with present or a history of squamous cell carcinoma in the head and neck, or esophagus between January 2009 and June 2011. Two expert endoscopistsdetected 89 lesions that were suspicious for SESCC lesions, which had been prospectively evaluated for the following 6 NBI-ME findings in real time: "intervascular background coloration"; "proliferation of intrapapillary capillary loops(IPCL)"; and "dilation", "tortuosity", "change in caliber", and "various shapes(VS)" of IPCLs(i.e., Inoue's tetrad criteria). The histologic examination of specimens was defined as the gold standard for diagnosis. A stepwise logistic regression analysis was used to identify candidates for the simplified criteria from among the 6 NBI-ME findings for diagnosing SESCCs. We evaluated diagnostic performance of the simplified criteria compared with that of Inoue's criteria.RESULTS Fifty-four lesions(65%) were histologically diagnosed as SESCCs and the others as low-grade intraepithelial neoplasia or inflammation. In the univariate analysis, proliferation, tortuosity, change in caliber, and VS were significantly associated with SESCC(P < 0.01). The combination of VS and proliferation was statistically extracted from the 6 NBI-ME findings by using the stepwise logistic regression model. We defined the combination of VS and proliferation as simplified dyad criteria for SESCC. The areas under the curve of the simplified dyad criteria and Inoue's tetrad criteria were 0.70 and 0.73, respectively. No significant difference was shown between them. The sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy of diagnosis for SESCC were 77.8%, 57.1%, 69.7% and 51.9%, 80.0%, 62.9% for the simplified dyad criteria and Inoue's tetrad criteria, respectively.CONCLUSION The combination of proliferation and VS may serve as simplified criteria for the diagnosis of SESCC using NBIME.展开更多

Due to similarities in pathology and morphology to members of the family Baculoviridae, they have been previously classified as the so-called “non-occluded” baculoviruses. However, presently they are taxonomically orphaned and are not assigned to any virus family because of the lack of genetic relatedness to Baculoviridae,. Here, we report on recent progress in the genomic analysis of Heliothis zea nudivirus 1 (HzNV-1), Oryctes rhinoceros nudivirus (OrNV), Gryllus bimaculatus nudivirus (GbNV) and Heliotis zea nudivirus 2 (HzNV-2). Gene content comparison and phylogenetic analyses indicated that the viruses share 15 core genes with baculoviruses and form a monophyletic sister group to them. Consequences of the genetic relationship are discussed for the classification of nudiviruses.展开更多

Phylogenetically, HIV can be classified into geographically confined groups, types, subtypes and circulating recombinant forms (CRFs) that are however subject to change over time. HIV genetic diversity may partially explain the observed heterogeneity in HIV prevalence and has also been reported to impact on viral transmissibility and differential rates of disease progression. The aim of this review is to present a simple overview of the principles and concepts of HIV diversity and classification. Tracking the presence of new HIV strains is not only important for surveillance purposes but is also critical in facilitating personalized targeted therapy as well as forming the basis for development of the much anticipated effective vaccines against this scourge.展开更多

In order to provide theoretics support for improvement of the bicycling environment, this paper proposed bicycle level of service (BLOS) evaluation method for urban road segment according to cyclists’ perception. First, influence factors of BLOS were identified from aspects of road facility, traffic characteristics, and environmental condition. Second, bicycling videos were recorded and a satisfaction survey was conducted. Four BLOS evaluation models for different separation facilities were established. Last, bicycling behavioral stages of travelers were divided based on the transtheoretical model. A new BLOS classification criterion was proposed according to travelers’ demand of different stages.展开更多

A total of 23 mangrove species have been found consisting of exclusive and non-exclusive species in Kg. Juara, Kg. Nipah, Kg. Paya, Kg. Genting and Tulai Island. The abundance mangrove species are Rhizophora X lamarckii, Rhizophora apiculata, Rhizophora mucronata and Brugueira gymnorrhiza. From supervised classification, total of 59.90 hectares mangrove covers have been identified in both islands, with 86.49% in Tioman Island (52.76 hectares) and 13.51% in Tulai Island (7.14 hectares). A new hybrid species has been found (Rhizophora X lamarckii) dominated in Tulai Island, combination between Rhizophora stylosa and Rhizophora apiculata. At the mean time only mangrove area in Teluk Bakau, Tulai Island is considered as the focal destination of tourists to the area. However, other mangrove areas in Tioman Island are also potential to be promoted as tourist destination areas. Although the mangrove area is only a part of the scenery, its presence obviously enhances tourist attraction. The basic facilities such as information counter, walking trails, garbage boxes and toilets are considered necessary. The main information panel and site map should be provided on the mangrove sites. Boardwalks may be constructed for visitor to access the mangrove area without destroying the root system and stand. The actual site of these facilities and on-site information guides should be strategically placed in order to provide beneficial information and as well as to sustain the biophysical stability of the sites. Since mangroves provide various important functions in nature, it hopes that the mangrove educotourism activity will influence the people and community’s attitudes to the environment, conservation and sustainable development in a very positive way.展开更多

If the ratio is less than 30(narrow conical structure), broken ice is completely cleared and a dynamic ice force is produced; however, if the ratio is larger than 50(wide conical structure), the front stacking of broken ice or dynamic ice force will not occur.
文摘Spondyloarthropathies(SpA)are a group of inflammatory arthritis which consist of ankylosing spondylitis(AS),reactive arthritis,arthritis/spondylitis associated with psoriasis(PsA),and arthritis/spondylitis associated with inflammatory bowel diseases. It is now more important than ever to diagnose and treat SpA early.New therapeutic agents including blockers of tumor necrosis factor have yielded tremendous responses not only in advanced disease but also in the early stages of the disease.Sacroiliitis on conventional radiography is the result of structural changes which may appear late in the disease process. However, magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)can visualize active inflammation at sacroiliac joints and spine in recent onset disease. The modified New York criteria, the European Spondyloarthropathy Study Group criteria and the Amor criteria do not include advanced imaging techniques like MRI which is very sensitive to the early Inflammatory changes.Assessment of SpondyloArthritis international Society has defined MRI methods for the assessment of sacroiliac joints and spine, criteria for inflammatory back pain and developed new criteria for classification of axial and peripheral spondyloarthritis. These new criteria are intended to be used for patients with SpA at the very early stage of their disease. Also, classification of psoriatic arthritis study group developed criteria for the classification of PsA.The widespread use of these criteria in clinical trials will provide evidence for a better definition of early disease and recognize many patients who may further develop classical AS or PsA.These efforts will guide therapeutic trials of potent drugs like biological agents in the early stage of these diseases.
文摘Although the development of the 2009 Sp A classification criteria by Assessment of Spondylo Arthritis international Society(ASAS) represents an important step towards a better definition of the early disease stage particularly in axial spondyloarthritis(ax Sp A), the specificity of the criteria has been criticized these days. Therefore, differential diagnosis including human brucellosis should always be kept in mind when applying the ASAS criteria, even in traditionally non-endemic areas.

文摘The relationship between the importance of criterion and the criterion aggregation function is discussed, criterion's weight and combinational weights between some criteria are defined, and a multi-criteria classification method with incomplete certain information and polynomial aggregation function is proposed. Finally, an example shows the feasibility and availability of this method.

文摘Background: Ecosystem representation is one key component in assessing the biodiversity impacts of land-use changes that will irrevocably alter natural ecosystems. We provide a useful tool for assessing potential consequences of land-use change that can help guide decision making.

文摘The Middle Route of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project(MR-SNWDP)in China, with construction beginning in 2003,diverts water from Danjiangkou Reservoir to North China for residential, agriculture and industrial use.The water source area of the MR-SNWDP is the region that is most sensitive to and most affected by the construction of this water diversion project. In this study,we used Landsat Thematic Mapper(TM)and HJ-1 A/B images from 2000 to 2015 by an object-based approach with a hierarchical classification method for mapping land cover in the water source area. The changes in land cover were illuminated by transfer matrixes, single dynamic degree, slope zones and fractional vegetation cover(FVC).The results indicated that the area of cropland decreased by 31%and was replaced mainly by shrub over the past 15 years, whereas forest and settlements showed continuous increases of 29.2% and 77.7%,respectively.The changes in cropland were obvious in all slope zones and decreased most remarkably(–43.8%)in the slope zone above 25°.Compared to the FVC of forest and shrub, significant improvement was exhibited in the FVC of grassland, with a growth rate of 16.6%.We concluded that local policies, including economic development, water conservation and immigration resulting from the construction of the MR-SNWDP,were the main drivers of land cover changes;notably, they stimulated the substantial and rapid expansion of settlements, doubled the wetlands and drove the transformation from cropland to settlements in immigration areas.

文摘Ethnicity is a carrier of language and culture.Spatial distribution of ethnic diversity is fundamental for identifying and reconstructing the migration patterns and evolution histories of cultures and languages.Utilizing the Chinese 4th National Census (1990) data,we investigated the specific time geographical patterns of population and diversity of Chinese ethnicminorities. As anticipated, results show that Chineseminorities are chiefly concentrated in dis-tant plateaus and mountains in the southwest, northwest and northeast of China.Further, population density centers of the 10 majorminorities are rather scattered, alternatively dominating at different parts of the country. This study pro-vides a first comprehensive quantitative test on a prevailing notion of 'six plates and three corridors' on the empirical clustering patterns of Chinese ethnicminorities. There are more consistent evidences supporting this notion in the north of China, with the central and southern regions showing more complex patterns, potentially transformed by processes such as migration, fragmentation, and percolation. The results of this study suggest that a geographical ap-proach can provide heuristic and complementary information for better understanding of historical social processes.
文摘AIM To simplify the diagnostic criteria for superficial esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(SESCC) on Narrow Band Imaging combined with magnifying endoscopy(NBI-ME).METHODS This study was based on the post-hoc analysis of a randomized controlled trial. The sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy of diagnosis for SESCC were 77.8%, 57.1%, 69.7% and 51.9%, 80.0%, 62.9% for the simplified dyad criteria and Inoue's tetrad criteria, respectively.CONCLUSION The combination of proliferation and VS may serve as simplified criteria for the diagnosis of SESCC using NBIME.

文摘Nudiviruses represent a diverse group of arthropod specific, rod-shaped and dsDNA viruses. Consequences of the genetic relationship are discussed for the classification of nudiviruses.
文摘The hallmark of HIV-1 is its extensive genetic diversity that emanates mainly from high mutations. Tracking the presence of new HIV strains is not only important for surveillance purposes but is also critical in facilitating personalized targeted therapy as well as forming the basis for development of the much anticipated effective vaccines against this scourge.
文摘As a sustainable mode of transportation, bicycles significantly improve daily mobility. A new BLOS classification criterion was proposed according to travelers’ demand of different stages.
文摘Mangroves composition and species are richly diverse in Tioman and Tulai Island. Since mangroves provide various important functions in nature, it hopes that the mangrove educotourism activity will influence the people and community’s attitudes to the environment, conservation and sustainable development in a very positive way.
