The welding heat source models and the plastic tension zone sizes of a typical weld joint involved in the double floor structure of high speed train under different welding parameters were calculated by a thermal-elastic-plastic FEM analysis based on SYSWELD code.Then,the welding distortion of floor structure was predicted using a linear elastic FEM and shrinkage method based on Weld Planner software.The effects of welding sequence,clamping configuration and reverse deformation on welding distortion of floor structure were examined numerically.The results indicate that the established elastic FEM model for floor structure is reliable for predicting the distribution of welding distortion in view of the good agreement between the calculated results and the measured distortion for real double floor structure.Compared with the welding sequence,the clamping configuration and the reverse deformation have a significant influence on the welding distortion of floor structure.In the case of30 mm reverse deformation,the maximum deformation can be reduced about 70%in comparison to an actual welding process. 展开更多

Unlocking the potentials of gel conformance for water shutoff in fractured reservoirs: Favorable attributes of the double network gel for enhancing oil recovery

The double-network prepared with an in-situ monomer gel and a fast-crosslinked Cr(III) gel is introduced to develop a thixotropic and high-strength gel (THSG), which is found to have many advantages over the traditional gels. The THSG gel demonstrates remarkable thermal stability, and no syneresis is observed after 12 months with high salinity brine (95,500 mg/L). Moreover, the SEM and XRD results indicate that the gel is intercalated into the lamellar structures of Na-MMT, where the gel can form a uniform and compact structure. In addition, the THSG gel has an excellent swelling behavior, even in the high salinity brine. In the slim tube experiments, the THSG gel exhibits high rupture pressure and improves blocking capacity after being ruptured. The core flooding results show that a layer of gel filter cake is formed on the face of the fracture, which may be promoted by a high matrix permeability, a small aperture fracture, and a high injection rate. After the gel treatment, the fracture can be completely blocked by the THSG gel. It is found that a high incremental oil recovery (65.3%) can be achieved when the fracture was completely blocked, compared to 40.2% if the gel is ruptured. Although the swelling of ruptured gel can improve oil recovery, part of the injected brine may be channeled through the gel-filled fractures, resulting in a decrease in the sweep efficiency. Therefore, the improved blocking ability by gel swelling (e.g., in fresh water) may be less efficient to contribute to an enhancement of oil recovery. It is also found that the pressure gradient and residual resistance factor to water (Frrw) are higher if the matrix is less permeable, indicating that the fractured reservoir with lower matrix permeability may require a higher gel strength for treatment. The findings of this study may provide novel insights on designing robust double network gels for water shutoff in fractured reservoirs. 展开更多

Lithium sulfide(Li_(2)S)as a cathode material for lithium-sulfur(Li-S)batteries,one of the most promising advanced batteries in the future,has received tremendous attention in the past decades.However,developing the practical Li_(2)S cathode confronts challenges of low conductivity for Li-ions and electrons,high sensitivity to environmental moisture,big overpotential barrier to electrochemical activation,and poor cyclability due to the shuttle effect of intermediate species.This article herein reports a simple and effective strategy for making Li_(2)S@Li_(2)S_(2)@Li_(2)S_(6) double-shelled microparticles,which can significantly mitigate these problems.They are synthesized by dissolving Li2S together with S in dimethoxyethane,then drying off the solvent,and finally calcining the collected solid.Compared with pure Li_(2)S,such a double-shell material presents a 26.7% improvement in cycling capacity,0.5 V lower in activation overpotential,and prolonged tolerance in the ambient environment.The density functional theory calculation shows that the performance enhancement lies in the higher stability of Li2S6in contact with moisture and some autocatalytic effect of Li_(2)S_(2)@Li_(2)S_(6).Such a double-shell structure becomes a universal performanceenhancing approach when being combined with other means,such as cathodes composited with catalytic MoS_(2),separators modified with selenium-doped sulfurized-polyacrylonitrile/montmorillonite,electrolytes containing fluorenone additive,and Li anodes coated with a layer of Li_(3)N.The corresponding capacity retention shows up to 80%improvement compared with pure Li_(2)S. 展开更多

Digital receivers have become more and more popular in radar, communication, and electric warfare for the advantages compared with their analog counterparts. But conventional digital receivers have been generally considered impractical for bandwidth greater than several hundreds MHz. To extend receiver bandwidth, decrease data rate and save hardware resources, three novel structures are proposed. They decimate the data stream prior to mixing and filtering, then process the multiple decimated streams in parallel at a lower rate. Consequently it is feasible to realize wideband receivers on the current ASIC devices. A design example and corresponding simulation results are demonstrated to evaluate the proposed structures. 展开更多

Kosterlitz–Thouless transition, spectral property and magnetic moment for a two-dot structure with level difference

By means of the numerical renormalization group method, we study the phase transition, the spectral property, and the temperature-dependent magnetic moment for a parallel double dot system with level difference, where the dot energies are kept symmetric to the half-filled level. A Kosterlitz–Thouless(KT) transition between local spin triplet and singlet is found. In the triplet regime, the local spin is partially screened by the conduction leads and spin-1 Kondo effect is realized.While for the singlet, the Kondo peak is strongly suppressed and the magnetic moment decreases to 0 at a definite low temperature. We attribute this KT transition to the breaking of the reflection symmetry, resulting from the difference of the charge occupations of the two dots. To understand this KT transition and related critical phenomena, detailed scenarios are given in the transmission coefficient and the magnetic moment, and an effective Kondo model refers to the RayleighSchrdinger perturbation theory is used. 展开更多

The electronic structures, optical dielectric functions, elastic properties, and lattice dynamics of Ba2ZnWO6 have been investigated by using the generalized gradient approximation. The density of states and distributions of charge density show that O and Ba tend toward ionic bond, but O and W or Zn display the covalent bond character. The calculated energy band structure shows that Ba2ZnWO6 is a wide indirect band gap semiconductor. The static value 2.28 of the refractive index is attained. The analysis of the elastic properties of Ba2ZnWO6 indicates a rather weak elastic anisotropy. The phonon dispersion is calculated, suggesting no structural instability, which is agreement with the recent low temperature neutron diffraction experiments. The mensurability Cv (phonon heat capacity) as the function of the temperature is also calculated to judge our results for future experiment. 展开更多

Sn-based alloy materials are considered as a promising anode candidate for lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)and sodium-ion batteries(SIBs),whereas they suffer from severe volume change during the discharge/charge process.To address the issue,double core-shell structured Sn-Cu@SnO2@C nanocomposites have been prepared by a simple co-precipitation method combined with carbon coating approach.The double core-shell structure consists of Sn-Cu multiphase alloy nanoparticles as the inner core,intermediate SnO2 layer anchored on the surface of Sn-Cu nanoparticle and outer carbon layer.The Sn-Cu@SnO2@C electrode exhibits outstanding electrochemical perfor-mances,delivering a reversible capacity of 396 mA·h·g^-1 at 100 mA·g^-1 after 100 cycles for LIBs and a high initial reversible capacity of 463 mA·h·g^-1 at 50 mA·g^-1 and a capacity retention of 86% after 100 cycles,along with a remarkable rate capability(193 mA·h·g^-1 at 5000 mA·g^-1)for SIBs.This work provides a viable strategy to fabricate double core-shell structured Sn-based alloy anodes for high energy density LIBs and SIBs. 展开更多

On the basis of a long-term(30 years) field experiment that involved four rotation systems, rice-rice-winter fallow(RRF), rice-rice-ryegrass(RRG), rice-rice-rape(RRP), and rice-rice-milk vetch(RRV), this study described the effects of green manure on the microbial communities in the red paddy soils using 454 pyrosequencing for the 16 S r RNA gene. The Chao1 richness and non-parametric Shannon's index increased in all soil samples that received green manure treatments. The communities' structures with the green manure applications were significantly dissimilar from that under the winter fallow. Using Metastats tests, many genera in the RRG, RRP and RRV soils were significantly different from those in the RRF soil, including a number of genera that functioned in the nitrogen and sulfur cycles. Analyses of the genera with these functions revealed the shifts in microbial ecosystem functions after long-term green manuring. Changes in the microbial communities increased the ammonium supply and decreased the soil acidification in green-manure-amended soils. Together, these data suggested powerful effects of green manure on both the microbial communities and the biogeochemical cycle driven by the shifts in bacterial functional groups. 展开更多

The threshold current density and slope efficiency of the device are 180 A/cm^2 and 1.3 W/A, respectively. The internal loss and the internal quantum efficiency are 1.7 cm^-1 and 93%, respectively. The eigenvalue problem with the effective-mass approximation is solved by means of the finite-element method. The energy levels and wave functions of quantum-confined electrons and heavy holes are obtained and show an agreement with our previous theoretical and experimental studies. It is shown in the approximation of neglecting the Coulomb attraction between the electron and heavy hole that a relatively large Stark shift of exciton emission of 4 meV is attainable with an applied electric field of 0.7 kV/cm. 展开更多

In this work,a high-performance fiber strain sensor is fabricated by constructing a double percolated structure,consisting of carbon nanotube(CNT)/thermoplastic polyurethane(TPU)continuous phase and styrene butadiene styrene(SBS)phase,incompatible with TPU(CNT/TPU@SBS).Compared with other similar fiber strain sensor systems without double percolated structure,the CNT/TPU@SBS sensor achieves a lower percolation threshold(0.38 wt.%)and higher electrical conductivity.The conductivity of 1%-CNT/TPU@SBS(4.12×10^(-3) S·m^(-1))is two orders of magnitude higher than that of 1%-CNT/TPU(3.17×10^(-5) S·m^(-1))at the same CNT loading of 1 wt.%.Due to double percolated structure,the 1%-CNT/TPU@SBS sensor exhibits a wide strain detection range(0.2%-100%)and an ultra-high sensitivity(maximum gauge factor(GF)is 32411 at 100%strain).Besides,the 1%-CNT/TPU@SBS sensor shows a high linearity(R^(2)=0.97)at 0%-20%strain,relatively fast response time(214 ms),and stability(500 loading/unloading cycles).The designed sensor can efficiently monitor physiological signals and movements and identify load distribution after being woven into a sensor array,showing broad application prospects in wearable electronics. 展开更多

A Special MJO Event with a Double Kelvin Wave Structure

The second Madden–Julian Oscillation(MJO)event during the field campaign of the Dynamics of the MJO/Cooperative Indian Ocean Experiment on Intraseasonal Variability in the Year 2011(DYNAMO/CINDY2011)exhibi ted an unusual double rainband structure.Using a wavenumber-frequency spectral filtering method,we unveil that this double rainband structure arises primarily from the Kelvin wave component.The zonal phase speed of the double rainbands is about 7.9 degree per day in the equatorial Indian Ocean,being in the range of convectively coupled Kelvin wave phase speeds.The convection and circulation anomalies associated with the Kelvin wave component are characterized by two anomalous convective cells,with low-level westerly(easterly)and high(low)pressure anomalies to the west(east)of the convective centers,and opposite wind and pressure anomalies in the upper troposphere.Such a zonal wind–pressure phase relationship is consistent with the equatorial free-wave dynamics.While the freeatmospheric circulation was dominated by the first baroclinic mode vertical structure,moisture and vertical motion in the boundary layer led the convection.The convection and circulation structures derived based on the conventional MJO filter show a different characteristic.For example,the phase speed is slower(about 5.9 degree per day),and there were no double convective branches.This suggests that MJO generally involves multi-scales and it is incomplete to extract its signals by using the conventional filtering technique. 展开更多

The magnetic properties of the magnets were measured with a NIM-2000H hysteresigraph. The crystalline structures of the magnets were identified by X-ray diffraction(XRD). The Rietveld refinement was carried out using the FULLPROF software. The scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and transmission electron microscopy(TEM) analyses were carried out in order to investigate the microstructure of the magnets. It showed that the magnets consisted mainly of Nd2Fe14 B phase, and some Nd-rich phase. Two types of matrix-phase grains in dark grey and light grey were found in the magnets with x=2 and 4. The Dy content was obviously different in the two types of grains, which proved that the double hard magnetic phases(Dy-rich and Dy-lean phases) coexisted in the magnet. It revealed that the Nd-rich phases in junction regions had fcc structure, with the unit cell parameter of about 0.52–0.56 nm. The weak superlattice spots were found in the SAD patterns of the junction Nd-rich phases with large scale. The double hard magnetic phase structure seemed to improve the magnetic properties of NdFeB magnets with high coercivity, while decrease the consumption of Dy element, compared with the single alloy magnet. 展开更多

A numerical simulation of a torrential rain event occurring in the Jiang-Huai Valley of China from 22-24 June 1999 is performed and analyzed by using the PSU/NCAR MM5 mesoscale non-hydrostatic model. The high-resolution model output data are utilized to diagnose the double front structure, and the distributions of potential temperature, equivalent potential temperature, and specific humidity in the vicinity of the Meiyu Front System (MYFS) in the Jiang-Huai Valley. The results show that both the potential temperature gradient and the specific humidity gradient have important impacts on the two strong equivalent potential temperature gradient zones associated with the double front structure of the MYFS, but the latter (moisture gradient) is more important. In addition, the tendency equation of specific humidity gradient is theoretically derived. It shows that variations of the specific humidity gradient are related to the advection, convergence/divergence, horizontal and vertical vorticities (secondary circulation) effects and the gradient of water vapor source/sink. As an example, the budget of the meridional component of the tendency equation is selected and diagnosed by using the above model simulation data of the torrential rain event. It is shown that the variation of the specific humidity gradient averaged throughout the simulation is mainly controlled by the convergence/divergence effect, the secondary circulation effect associated with the horizontal vorticities, and the water vapor source/sink effect. Since the water vapor source/sink is often formed from the phase change processes of water vapor in the air and thus directly associated with cloud and precipitation microphysics processes, the variation of the specific humidity gradient is closely related with cloud and precipitation microphysics and the distribution, development and evolution of cloud and rainfall systems. The double front structure of the MYFS provides an advantageous environmental condition for the development and movement of the mesoscale torrential rain system nearby. In turn, the development of the torrential rain exerts a signifiant impact on the MYFS through changing the thermal and moisture distributions. 展开更多
