Differences in geological conditions, social backgrounds, aesthetic traditions and religious beliefs led to different development trends of gardens in China and Japan. Chinese gardens were largely influenced by humanistic and cultural elements, famous for poetic and artistic conceptions, while Japanese gardens covered by religious colors, and most of its private gardens built with Buddhist preferences just like temple gardens. Chinese gardens valued the application of diversified plant species, while Japanese gardens favored evergreen plants, not flowers. Chinese preferred sightseeing in scenery, but Japanese preferred meditation, which means that, there were different touring ways in two countries. In conclusion, social and cultural differences contributed to the literati garden with profound humanity background in China and the Buddhist garden of religious colors in Japan.展开更多

However, it is so difficult for the Western readers who do not understand the Chinese traditional culture to get the essence of the work.It is apparently necessary to explore the influence of cultural context on the translation of A Dream of the Red Mansions. With a deep understanding of the cultural background of the original work, the information and images can be conveyed to the target audience.展开更多

From the micro perspective, Gatsby has four times of disillusionment altogether. The first one was from his birth to his leaving home, the second disillusionment came after his under Dan Cody's patron for several years, ended by Cody's sudden death leaving Gatsby no money actually inherited. His third disillusionment was the frustration of his love for Daisy as Daisy married to Tom Buchanan. Finally, his fourth disillusion brought him away altogether with his death, after the car accident committed by Daisy and Gatsby was mistakenly regarded as the murderer. In a macro perspective,Gatsby's death in the novel symbolizes the disillusionment of American Dream in the Jazz Age.展开更多

The phenomenon of atomic collapse and revival predicted by Jaynes-Cummings model is demonstrated. Solutions are consis- tent with the precious such as using the operator method. Furthermore, the Jaynes-Cummings Hamiltonian including the anti-rotating term is also solved precisely using this accurate way so that results agree with experiments better. Essences of the anti-rotating term are revealed. We discuss the relations of the phenomenon of atomic collapse and revival with the average photons number, the light field phase angle, the resonant frequency, and the size of coupling constant. The discussions may make one select suitable conditions to carry out experiment well and study the virtual light field effect on cavity quantum electrodynamics.展开更多
