Theoretical design and dynamic simulation of new mining paths of tracked miner on deep seafloor 被引量:8

With comprehensive considerations of the operational safety and collection efficiency for the tracked miner collecting the seafloor poly-metallic nodules, two new improved mining paths for the miner on the deep seafloor were proposed. Compared to the conventional mining path, the design principles and superiorities of the two new paths are that the miner turning with relative long radius should avoid large sinkage and high slip, so as to ensure its operational safety, while the space between its straight-line trajectories before and after the turning is optimum, which is designed as the total width of the miner, and collect nodules as more as possible, so as to ensure its collection efficiency. To realize the new mining paths, theoretical designs and quantitative calculations were carried out to determine the exact positions for the speed controls of the miner during its whole operation process. With the new dynamic model of the miner, and through regulations of the speeds of the left and right tracks of the miner on the exact motion positions according to the theoretical calculations, the two new improved mining paths for the miner on the seafloor were successfully simulated, thus the turning radius of the miner in the simulation is about 21.8 m, while the distance between the straight-line trajectories before and after the turning is about 5.2 m. The dynamic simulation results preliminarily prove the feasibility of these two new mining paths, and further can provide important theoretical guidance and useful technical reference for the practical tracked miner operation and control on the seafloor. 展开更多

Virtual simulation technology is of great importance for the teleoperation of lunar rovers during the exploration phase, as well as the design of locomotion systems, performance evaluation, and control strategy verification during the R&D phase. The currently used simulation methods for lunar rovers have several disadvantages such as poor fidelity for wheel-soil interaction mechanics, difficulty in simulating rough terrains, and high complexity making it difficult to realize mobility control in simulation systems. This paper presents an approach for the construction of a virtual simulation system that integrates the features of 3D modeling, wheel-soil interaction mechanics, dynamics analysis, mobility control, and visualization for lunar rovers. Wheel-soil interaction experiments are carried out to test the forces and moments acted on a lunar rover’s wheel by the soil with a vertical load of 80 N and slip ratios of 0, 0.03, 0.05, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, and 0.6. The experimental results are referenced in order to set the parameters’ values for the PAC2002 tire model of the ADAMS/Tire module. In addition, the rough lunar terrain is simulated with 3DS Max software after analyzing its characteristics, and a data-transfer program is developed with Matlab to simulate the 3D reappearance of a lunar environment in ADAMS. The 3D model of a lunar rover is developed by using Pro/E software and is then imported into ADAMS. Finally, a virtual simulation system for lunar rovers is developed. A path-following control strategy based on slip compensation for a six-wheeled lunar rover prototype is researched. The controller is implemented by using Matlab/Simulink to carry out joint simulations with ADAMS. The designed virtual lunar rover could follow the planned path on a rough terrain. This paper can also provide a reference scheme for virtual simulation and performance analysis of rovers moving on rough lunar terrains. 展开更多

To solve this problem, a new method with numerical simulation based on heading control is applied to reduce the risk of operation of The Arctic Tandem Offloading Terminal(ATOT),which includes an offloading icebreaker(OIB) moored to a submerged turret and a shuttle tanker moored at the stern of the OIB in this paper. An icebreaking tanker, MT Uikku, was modeled in a simulation program. Then the level ice load on the tanker was calculated with different ice thicknesses and drift speeds, after which a heading controller assisted with mooring system is used to simulate the horizontal motion of the tanker under the ice action. 展开更多

We determine the energy as a function of temperature at saturated-vapor-pressure (SVP) conditions in the temperature range of T ∈ [1.0 K,4.0 K], and the equation of state (EOS) in the grmmd state For systems consisted of 32, 64 and 128 ^4He atoms, respectively, We find that the energy at SVP is influenced significantly by the size of the simulated system in the temperature range of T ∈ [2.1 K, 3.0 K] and the larger the system is, the better results are obtained in comparison with the experimental values; while the EOS appeared to be unrelated to it. 展开更多

The E×B drift instability is studied in Hall thruster using one-dimensional particle in cell(PIC)simulation method.By using the dispersion relation,it is found that unstable modes occur only in discrete bands in k space at cyclotron harmonics.The results indicate that the number of unstable modes increases by increasing the external electric field and decreases by increasing the radial magnetic field.The ion mass does not affect the instability wavelength.Furthermore,the results confirm that there is an instability with short wavelength and high frequency.Finally,it is shown that the electron and ion distribution functions deviate from the initial state and eventually the instability is saturated by ion trapping in the azimuthal direction.Also for light mass ion,the frequency and phase velocity are very high that could lead to high electron mobility in the axial direction. 展开更多

These storms also influence global environmental changes. By field observations, empirical statistics, and numerical simulations, pioneer researchers on these natural events have concluded the existence of a positive relationship between thermodynamic effects and sand/dust storms. Thermodynamic effects induce an unsteady stratified atmosphere to influence the process of these storms. However, studies on the relationship of thermodynamic effects with particles (i.e., sand and dust) are limited. In this article, wind tunnel with heating was used to simulate the quantitative relationship between thermodynamic effects and particle movement on different surfaces. Compared with the cold state, the threshold wind velocity of particles is found to be significantly decrease under the hot state. The largest decrease percentage exceedes 9% on fine and coarse sand surfaces. The wind velocity also has a three-power function in the sand transport rate under the hot state with increased sand transport. Thermodynamic effects are stronger on loose surfaces and fine particles, but weaker on compacted surfaces and coarse particles. 展开更多

The successfu lness of the process depends largely on the a proper selection of loading path w hich is axial feeding distance as related to the applied internal pressure. Due to the complicated nature of plastic deformation, a optimum loading path which w ill guarantee good hydroformed parts free of winkle and fracture has often to be determined by finite element analysis. In order to save trials and errors, adap tive FEM simulation method has been developed. To effectively apply the adaptive simulation method, we have to know the applicability of the method. In this pap er, a classification of tube hydroforming (THF) processes based on sensitivity to loading parameters has been suggested. Characteristics of the classification have been analyzed in terms of failure mode, dominant loading parameters and th eir working windows. It was discussed that the so called pressure dominant THF p rocess is the most difficult process for both simulation in FEM analysis and pra ctical operation in real manufacturing situation. To effectively find out the op timum loading path for pressure dominant THF process, adaptive FEM simulation st rategies are mostly needed. 展开更多

This paper proposes a simulation method of the wandering crowd, which calculates the crowd distribution corresponding to the space through space syntax and uses a hybrid path planning algorithm to dynamically navigate the crowd to conform to the dis- tribution. In this study,the broadband ground motions of the 2021 M7.4 Maduo earthquake were simulated to overcome the scarcity of ground motion recordings and the low resolution of macroseismic intensity map in sparsely populated high-altitude regions.The simulation was conducted with a hybrid methodology,combining a stochastic high-frequency simulation with a low-frequency ground motion simulation,from the regional 1-D velocity structure model and the Wang WM et al.(2022)source rupture model,respectively.We found that the three-component waveforms simulated for specific stations matched the waveforms recorded at those stations,in terms of amplitude,duration,and frequency content.The validation results demonstrate the ability of the hybrid simulation method to reproduce the main characteristics of the observed ground motions for the 2021 Maduo earthquake over a broad frequency range.Our simulations suggest that the official map of macroseismic intensity tends to overestimate shaking by one intensity unit.Comparisons of simulations with empirical ground motion models indicate generally good consistency between the simulated and empirically predicted intensity measures.The high-frequency components of ground motions were found to be more prominent,while the low-frequency components were not,which is unexpected for large earthquakes.Our simulations provide valuable insight into the effects of source complexity on the level and variability of the resulting ground motions.The acceleration and velocity time histories and corresponding response spectra were provided for selected representative sites where no records were available.The simulated results have important implications for evaluating the performance of engineering structures in the epicentral regions of this earthquake and for estimating seismic hazards in the Tibetan regions where no strong ground motion records are available for large earthquakes. 展开更多

Previous results show that the floating reference theory(FRT)is an effective tool to reduce the infuence of interference factors on noninvasive blood glucose sensing by near infrared spectros-copy(NIRS).It is the key to measure the floating reference point(FRP)precisely for the application of FRT.Monte Carlo(MC)simulation has been introduced to quantitatively in-vestigate the effects of positioning errors and light source drifts on measuring FRP.In this article,thinning and calculating method(TCM)is proposed to quantify the positioning error.Mean-while,the normalization process(NP)is developed to significantly reduce the error induced by light source drift.The results according to TCM show that 7 purm deviations in positioning can generate about 10.63%relative error in FRP.It is more noticeable that 1%fluctuation in light source intensity may lead to 12.21%relative errors.Gratifyingly,the proposed NP model can effectively reduce the error caused by light source drift.Therefore,the measurement system for FRPs must meet that the positioning error is less than 7 purm,and the light source drift is kept within 1%.Furthermore,an improvement for measurement system is proposed in order to take advantage of the NP model. 展开更多

An example of product assembly modeling is provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach. On the basis of re- search, using assembly simulation techniques and multimedia techniques to finish structure design in linkage design of a large size wind-drive generator. Four different loading paths were utilized in simulating the forming process of hydroforming crankshaft and the results of different loading paths were presented. It shows that the hydroforming is dependent on the appropriate loading path. There exists the zone of hydroforming process window which can be confirmed by using simulation method. Wrinkles occur as the the internal pressure is less than 20MPa and bursting occurs as the the internal pressure is larger than 32MPa. Only when the internal pressure locates between 20MPa and 30MPa, can an eligible crankshaft component be manufactured. 展开更多

CYCLONE simulation model takes charge of simulating stochastic duration of activity and efficiency of resources, while CPM model performs project scheduling. This combination avoids the shortcomings of both models. Furthermore, geographic information system (GIS) technique is utilized to visualize the construction processes which are otherwise difficult to be understood by static results described. From the Boltzmann equation, the hydrodynamic equations are derived, but this model consumes much computa- tional time for simulation. The drift-diffusion approximation model and the local field approximation model are ob- tained to simplify the numerical computation, and the approximation conditions of these two models are discussed in detail. The drift-diffusion approximation model gives more satisfactory result for PDP simulation, and the expression of energy balance equation is given completely in this model. 展开更多
