The influence of the freeze-thaw cycle and dry-wet alternation on the shear-strength parameters of the unsaturated loess was investigated by laboratory experimental methods. Moreover, the temperature field, seepage field, and stability of slopes with different gradients were simulated under the effect of the freeze-thaw cycle and dry-wet alternation by using the geotechnical analysis software Geo-Studio. The research results showed(1) when the freeze-thaw cycle was repeated on the slope, with the frozen depth increasing, the melted depth did the same; besides, the closed loop of isotherms formed on the slope;(2) under the action of dry-wet circulation, the negative pore-water pressure and volumetric water content showed an upward tendency. However, owing to the different slope gradients, rainfall infiltration was not the same. As time went by, the differences of the negative pore-water pressure and volumetric water content between the slopes of different gradients continued to increase;(3) with the freeze-thaw cycle and dry-wet alternation increasing, the slope-safety factor decreased. Especially in the early period, the slope-safety factor changed remarkably. For slopes undergoing freeze-thaw action, the slope-safety factor was negatively correlated with the gradient. However, with regard to slopes undergoing dry-wet alternation, the result became more complex because the slope-safety factor was related to both seepage strength and slope grade. Accordingly, further research is needed to study the effect of seepage strength and slope grade on the stability of loess slopes.展开更多

It is shown that the maximum absorption peaks of the ro-tamers have difference of nearly 30 nm both in vacuum and in solutions. The population of the rotamers changes a lot in different solvents. Based on the geometries optimized by Hartree-Fock method, the Maxwell-Boltzmann averaged absorption has been calculated and the maximum absorption peak is in good agreement with experiment. It indicates that the bond length alternation can have an important effect on the optical spectra.展开更多

The increase in activities of whole chain electron transport, PS ⅡDCPIP photoreduction, and oxygen evolution of chloroplasts was of the following order: Ce〉Nd 〉La〉 control. However, the photoreduction activities of spinach PS I almost did not change with La, Ce, or Nd treatments. The results suggested that 4f electron characteristics and alternation valence of rare earths had a close relationship with photosynthesis improvement.展开更多

These phenomena are studied by a mesoscopic method named as dissipative particle dynamics (DPD). Both the alteration phenomena of water-wet to oil-wet and that of oil-wet to water-wet are simulated based on reasonable definition of interaction parameters between beads. The wetting hysteresis phenomenon and the process of oil-drops detachment from rock surfaces with different wettability are simulated by adding long-range external forces on the fluid particles. The simulation results show that, the oil drop is liable to spread on the oil-wetting surface and move in the form of liquid film flow, whereas it is likely to move as a whole on the waterwetting surface. There are the same phenomena occuring in wettability-alternated cases. The results also show that DPD method provides a feasible approach to the problems of seepage flow with physicochemical phenomena and can be used to study the mechanism of EOR of chemical flooding.展开更多

On the other hand, plant mitochondria obeyed another different rule after their classification. Complete single DNA strand sequences obtained from chloroplasts, plant mitochondria, and animal mitochondria, were divided into the coding and non-coding regions. The non-coding region, which was the complementary coding region on the reverse strand, was incorporated as a coding region in the forward strand. When the nucleotide contents of the coding region or non-coding regions were plotted against the composition of the four nucleotides in the complete single DNA strand, it was determined that chloroplast and plant mitochondrial DNA obeyed Chargaff’s second parity rule in both the coding and non-coding regions. However, animal mitochondrial DNA deviated from this rule. In chloroplast and plant mitochondrial DNA, which obey Chargaff’s second parity rule, the lines of regression for G (purine) and C (pyrimidine) intersected with regression lines for A (purine) and T (pyrimidines), respectively, at around 0.250 in all cases. On the other hand, in animal mitochondrial DNA, which deviates from Chargaff’s second parity rule, only regression lines due to the content of homonucleotides or their analogs in the coding or non-coding region against those in the complete single DNA strand intersected at around 0.250 at the horizontal axis. Conversely, the intersection of the two lines of regression (G and A or C and T) against the contents of heteronucleotides or their analogs shifted from 0.25 in both coding and non-coding regions. Nucleotide alternations in chloroplasts and plant mitochondria are strictly regulated, not only by the proportion of homonucleotides and their analogs, but also by the heteronucleotides and their analogs. They are strictly regulated in animal mitochondria only by the content of homonucleotides and their analogs.展开更多

As experimental models, Morris Water Maze (MWM) and Spontaneous Alternation (SA) represent two of the most frequently used laboratory tests to respectively address spatial vs non-spatial tasks. Several factors have been shown to impact on those learning, including strain, gender, apparatus, conditioning, vision, lighting conditions and stress level. In order to focus on the later, we compared the acquisition of two learning tasks (MWM and SA) in BALB/c and A/J mice, which are known as fearful and stress-sensitive strains. Here, we report that BALB/c mice exhibited higher performances than A/J mice in the MWM (i.e. spatial reference memory task), whereas A/J mice performed better in the SA (i.e. spatial working memory task). These results indicate dissociated processes in the acquisition of spatial vs non-spatial tasks, and emphasize a varying influence of emotional reactivity on different forms of cognition.展开更多

Recent studies demonstrate that the positive inotropic effects of both β1-AR and β2-AR stimulation are significantly decreased with aging. This is accompanied by decreases in both β-AR subtype densities and a reduction in membrane adenylyl cyclase activity. However, neither G protein-coupled receptor kinases (GRKs) nor inhibitory G proteins (Gi) appears to contribute to the age-associated reduction in the β-AR modulation of contraction. Thus, while both aging and chronic heart failure exhibit a diminution in cardiac β-AR responsiveness, only heart failure exhibits increased GRK-mediated desensitization ofβ-Ars and an upregulation of Gi proteins.展开更多

Moreover, previous rehabilitation function training is developed simply aiming to the dysfunction manifested by unaffected extremity. Problems of unaffected extremity are always ignored, such as left- and right- side connection dysfunction, abnormal muscular tension of unaffected side and so on. OBJECTIVE: To observe neurophysiological change characteristics of unaffected extremity of stroke patients with hemiplegia by electromyographical method. DESIGN: Case-control observation. SETTING: First Hospital, Jilin University. PARTICIPANTS: Eighty stroke patients with hemiplegia confirmed by skull CT or MRI, who firstly hospitalized in the Department of Neurology, First Hospital, Jilin University between July 2004 and March 2005, were retrieved. They were scored > 8 points in Glasgow Coma Scale and had stable vital sign. Nineteen normal persons who received healthy examination in the clinic were involved in normal control group. Following the classification criteria of Brunnstrom's Recovery Stages of Stroke (BRSS), 80 stroke patients with hemiplegia were assigned into 3 groups: BRSS Ⅰ-Ⅱ group (n =36), BRSS Ⅲ-Ⅳ group (n =23) and BRSSⅤ-Ⅵ (n =21). METHODS: F-wave parameters of median nerve of unaffected extremity were detected by electromyographical technique. The recording electrode (muscular belly of abductor pollicis brevis) and reference electrode (first finger bone) were connected with grounding electrode. Stimulating electrode was placed in the median part of wrist joint with stimulation intensity of 130% that of threshold stimulation, stimulation frequency of 2 Hz, current pulse width of 0.2 ms, time course of 5 ms and sensitivity of 2 mV. The F-wave of median nerve of affected extremity under the resting stage (static status) and that of unaffected extremity under the maximum resistant contracted state were detected in order. The amplitude and appearance percentage of F wave were recorded. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Comparison of F-wave parameters of median nerve between the unaffected extremity of stroke patients with hemiplegia and the extremity of control subjects under different status. RESULTS: All the patients accomplished the detection, and all of them participated in the final analysis. ①Under dynamic status, the amplitude and appearance percentage of F wave of unaffected extremity of patients in BRSS Ⅲ-Ⅳ group were significantly higher than those in the normal control group, respectively[(0.803 9±0.157 3) mV vs. (0.406 7±0.170 3) mV; (0.856 1±0.266 8)% vs. (0.650 0±0.197 6)%, P < 0.05]. Under static status, there were no significant differences in F-wave parameters of median nerve in the unaffected extremity of patients between BRSS Ⅰ-Ⅱ group and BRSS Ⅴ-Ⅵ group (P > 0.05). ②F-wave parameters of median nerve of unaffected extremity of patients in BRSS Ⅰ-Ⅱ group and BRSS Ⅴ-Ⅵ group under dynamic statewere higher than those under static status, without significant difference (P > 0.05), while the amplitude and appearance percentage of F wave of median nerve of unaffected extremity of patients in BRSS Ⅲ-Ⅳ group under dynamic statewere significantly higher than those under static state[(0.803 9±0.157 3) mV vs. (0.391 7±0.131 6) mV; (0.856 1±0.266 8 )% vs.(0.639 1 ±0.259 4)%,P < 0.05]. ③ There was no significant difference in F wave parameters among groups under static state(P > 0.05). However, under dynamic status, the amplitude and appearance percentage of F wave parameters of median nerve of unaffected extremity of patients in BRSS Ⅲ-Ⅳ group [(0.803 9±0.157 3) mV,(0.856 1±0.266 8)%] were significantly lower than those in the other two groups [(0.395 1±0.148 8),(0.437 1±0.157 6) mV;(0.612 5±0.232 8)%,(0.657 1±0.232 5)%,P < 0.05]. CONCLUSION: With the development of disease condition and the increase of muscular tension at anesthetic side, combination motor of affected extremity is caused following movement and muscular tension enhances to non-anesthetic-side. Therefore, F-wave parameters increase under dynamic status.展开更多

Despite extensive research on postharvest fruit softening, its precise molecular mechanisms remain elusive. To enhance our comprehension of the underlying molecular factors, we initially identified differentially expressed genes(DEGs) by comparing the transcriptomes of folic acid(FA)-treated and water-treated(CK) berries at different time points. We then analyzed the sequences to detect alternatively spliced(AS) genes associated with postharvest softening. A total of 2,559 DEGs were identified and categorized into four subclusters based on their expression patterns, with subcluster-4 genes exhibiting higher expression in the CK group compared with the FA treatment group. There were 1,045 AS-associated genes specific to FA-treated berries and 1,042 in the CK-treated berries, respectively. Gene Ontology(GO) annotation indicated that the AS-associated genes in CK-treated berries were predominantly enriched in cell wall metabolic processes, particularly cell wall degradation processes. Through a comparison between treatment-associated AS genes and subcluster-4 DEGs, we identified eight genes, including Pectinesterase 2(VvPE2, Vitvi15g00704), which encodes a cell wall-degrading enzyme and was predicted to undergo an A3SS event. The reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction further confirmed the presence of a truncated transcript variant of VvPE2 in the FA-treated berries. Our study provides a comprehensive analysis of AS events in postharvest grape berries using transcriptome sequencing and underscores the pivotal role of VvPE2 during the postharvest storage of grape berries.展开更多

They are strictly regulated in animal mitochondria only by the content of homonucleotides and their analogs.

文摘The diagenesis and diagenetic facies of shale reservoirs in Lucaogou Formation of Jimusar Sag were studied by means of microscopic observation and identification of ordinary thin sections and cast thin sections,X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscope and electron probe tests. The results show that alkaline and acidic diagenetic processes occurred alternately during the deposition of Permian Lucaogou Formation in Jimusar Sag.The evolution of porosity in the shale reservoirs was influenced by compaction and alternate alkaline and acidic diagenetic processes jointly, and has gone through three stages, namely, stage of porosity reduction and increase caused by alkaline compaction, stage of porosity increase caused by acid dissolution, and stage of porosity increase and reduction caused by alkaline dissolution.Correspondingly, three secondary pore zones developed in Lucaogou Formation. The shale reservoirs are divided into three diagenetic facies:tuff residual intergranular pore-dissolution pore facies, tuff organic micrite dolomite mixed pore facies, and micrite alga-dolomite intercrystalline pore facies. With wide distribution, good pore structure and high oil content, the first two facies are diagenetic facies of favorable reservoirs in Lucaogou Formation. The research results provide a basis for better understanding and exploration and development of the Lucaogou Formation shale reservoirs.

文摘We measured the photoelectron spectra of AuC_(n)^(-)(n=3-8)and conducted theoretical study on the structures and properties of AuC_(n)^(-/0)(n=3-8).It is found that the photoelectron spectra of AuC_(n)^(-)exhibit odd-even alternation. The spectral features of AuC_(3)^(-),AuC_(5)^(-),and AuC_(7)^(-)are much broader than those of AuC_(4)^(-),AuC_(6)^(-),and AuC_(5)^(-).The vertical detachment energies of AuC_(3)^(-),AuC_(5)^(-),and AuC_(7)^(-)are lower than those of AuC_(4)^(-),AuC_(6)^(-),and AuCs_(8)^(-).The most stable structures of AuC_(n)^(-)(n=3-8)are chain structures. The most stable structures of neutral AuC_(n)(n=3-8)are linear structures except that those of AuC_(3) and AuC_(5) are slightly bent. The calculated∠AuCC angles,Au-C bond lengths, and the charges on Au atom also show odd-even alternations, consistent with the experimental observations.
文摘Learning processes are extensively studied in behavioral neuroscience. These results indicate dissociated processes in the acquisition of spatial vs non-spatial tasks, and emphasize a varying influence of emotional reactivity on different forms of cognition.
文摘During aging, cardiac contractile response to β-AR stimulation is decreased in humans and animal models. Thus, while both aging and chronic heart failure exhibit a diminution in cardiac β-AR responsiveness, only heart failure exhibits increased GRK-mediated desensitization ofβ-Ars and an upregulation of Gi proteins.

文摘Due to climatic factors and rapid urbanization, the soil in the Loess Plateau,China, experiences the coupled effects of dry-wet cycles and chemical contamination.Understanding the mechanical behavior and corresponding microstructural evolution of contaminated loess subjected to dry-wet cycles is essential to elucidate the soil degradation mechanism. Therefore, direct shear and consolidation tests were performed to investigate the variations in mechanical properties of compacted loess contaminated with acetic acid, sodium hydroxide, and sodium sulfate during dry-wet cycles. The mechanical response mechanisms were investigated using zeta potential, mineral chemical composition, and scanning electron microscopy(SEM)tests. The results indicate that the mechanical deterioration of sodium hydroxidecontaminated loess during dry-wet cycles decreases with increasing contaminant concentration, which is mainly attributed to the thickening of the electrical double layer(EDL)by Nat and the precipitation of calcite,as well as the formation of colloidal flocs induced by OH,thus inhibiting the development of large pores during the dry-wet process. In contrast, the attenuation of mechanical properties of both acetic acid-and sodium sulfate-contaminated loess becomes more severe with increasing contaminant concentration, with the latter being more particularly significant. This is primarily due to the reduction of the EDL thickness and the erosion of cement in the acidic environment, which facilitates the connectivity of pores during dry-wet cycles.Furthermore, the salt expansion generated by the drying process of saline loess further intensifies the structural disturbance.Consequently, the mechanical performance of compacted loess is sensitive to both pollutant type and concentration, exhibiting different response patterns in the dry-wet cycling condition.

文摘Sandstone is the fundamental material in various engineering and construction projects. However, the mechanical integrity of sandstone can be compromised by initial unloading damage resulting from activities such as engineering excavations.Furthermore, this degradation is further exacerbated under periodic dry-wet environmental conditions. This study investigated the effects of dry-wet cycles and unloading on the mechanical properties of jointed fine sandstone using uniaxial and triaxial compression tests. These tests were performed on rock samples subjected to varying unloading degrees and different numbers of dry-wet cycles. The results demonstrate that with an increase in the unloading degree from 0%to 70%,there is a corresponding decrease in peak stress ranging from 10%to 33%.Additionally,the cohesion exhibits a reduction of approximately 20%to 25%,while the internal friction angle experiences a decline of about 3.5%to 6%.These findings emphasize a significant unloading effect. Moreover, the degree of peak stress degradation in unloading jointed fine sandstone diminishes with an increase in confining pressure, suggesting that confining pressure mitigates the deterioration caused by dry-wet cycles.Additionally,as the number of dry-wet cycles increases, there is a notable decline in the mechanical properties of the sandstone, evidencing significant dry-wet degradation.Utilizing the Drucker Prager criterion, this study establishes a strength criterion and fracture criterion, denoted as σ_(1)(m,n) and K_(T)^(Ⅱ)(m, n), to quantify the combined impacts of dry-wet cycles and unloading on jointed fine sandstone, which provides a comprehensive understanding of its mechanical behavior under such conditions.
文摘BACKGROUND: For many years, the extremities of stroke patients are divided into affected side and unaffected side according to clinical symptoms and body signs. Therefore, F-wave parameters increase under dynamic status.

文摘The firmness of table grape berries is a crucial quality parameter. Our study provides a comprehensive analysis of AS events in postharvest grape berries using transcriptome sequencing and underscores the pivotal role of VvPE2 during the postharvest storage of grape berries.

文摘Pile foundations are still the preferred foundation system for high-rise structures in earthquake-prone regions.Pile foundations have experienced failures in past earthquakes due to liquefaction.Research on pile foundations in liquefiable soils has primarily focused on the pile foundation behavior in two or three-layered soil profiles. However,in natural occurrence,it may occur in alternative layers of liquefiable and non-liquefiable soil. However, the experimental and/or numerical studies on the layered effect on pile foundations have not been widely addressed in the literature. Most of the design codes across the world do not explicitly mention the effect of sandwiched non-liquefiable soil layers on the pile response. In the present study, the behavior of an end-bearing pile in layered liquefiable and non-liquefiable soil deposit is studied numerically. This study found that the kinematic bending moment is higher and governs the design when the effect of the sandwiched non-liquefied layer is considered in the analysis as opposed to when its effect is ignored. Therefore, ignoring the effect of the sandwiched non-liquefied layer in a liquefiable soil deposit might be a nonconservative design approach.

文摘Underground pumped storage power plant(UPSP)is an innovative concept for space recycling of abandoned mines. Its realization requires better understanding of the dynamic performance and durability of reservoir rock. This paper conducted ultrasonic detection, split Hopkinson pressure bar(SHPB)impact, mercury intrusion porosimetry(MIP),and backscatter electron observation(BSE)tests to investigate the dynamical behaviour and microstructure of sandstone with cyclical dry-wet damage.A coupling FEM-DEM model was constructed for reappearing mesoscopic structure damage. The results show that dry-wet cycles decrease the dynamic compressive strength(DCS)with a maximum reduction of 39.40%,the elastic limit strength is reduced from 41.75 to 25.62 MPa.The sieved fragments obtain the highest crack growth rate during the 23rd dry-wet cycle with a predictable life of 25 cycles for each rock particle. The pore fractal features of the macropores and micro-meso pores show great differences between the early and late cycles, which verifies the computational statistics analysis of particle deterioration. The numerical results show that the failure patterns are governed by the strain in pre-peak stage and the shear cracks are dominant. The dry-wet cycles reduce the energy transfer efficiency and lead to the discretization of force chain and crack fields.
