This study investigated the capacity building needs for manual and computer assisted teaching of pattern drafting for entrepreneurship in tertiary institutions in Nigeria.The study was conducted and guided by two rese...This study investigated the capacity building needs for manual and computer assisted teaching of pattern drafting for entrepreneurship in tertiary institutions in Nigeria.The study was conducted and guided by two research questions and two hypotheses.This study adopted an ex-post facto research design.The population for the study consisted of 131 Home Economics lecturers from the Universities,Polytechnic,and Colleges of Education in South East Nigeria.The entire population was studied because of its manageable size,hence there was no sampling.The results of this study showed that the Home Economics lecturers are competent in drafting patterns using manual method.Technical skills required for lecturers of Home Economics to advance from manual to computer-assisted teaching of pattern drafting were identified.They include ability to grade patterns,ability to use software packages,and ability to discuss procedures of pattern drafting among others.Based on the findings,it was recommended among others that computer assisted teaching of pattern drafting should be incorporated and applied by Home Economics lecturers to ensure that students acquire technical skills that will enable them to enter into entrepreneurship.展开更多

Most current object-oriented programming courses offered by domestic colleges and universities generally focus on the object-oriented programming language itself,i.e.,the programming grammar of the language,but ignore...Most current object-oriented programming courses offered by domestic colleges and universities generally focus on the object-oriented programming language itself,i.e.,the programming grammar of the language,but ignore the design pattern.However,design patterns are essential to software engineering because they can solve common problems in software design and improve code reuse,readability,extensibility,and reliability.Our Object-oriented Software Construction Course is creative since it aims at cultivating students’object-oriented thinking as well as basic abilities required to construct high-quality,object-oriented software.Specifically,we exploit the 5E teaching principle during the education of this course,and present the whole pipeline in the paper.We also provide one case of the factory pattern to further demonstrate the implementation of the 5E teaching principle in the course.The effect of the 5E teaching principle has also been demonstrated.展开更多

We report here the results of a prospective analysis of the pattern of antibiotics use over a one month period(May 2009)at two teaching hospitals in Sanandaj,western part of Iran.Data on antibiotic usage were obtained...We report here the results of a prospective analysis of the pattern of antibiotics use over a one month period(May 2009)at two teaching hospitals in Sanandaj,western part of Iran.Data on antibiotic usage were obtained from the pharmacy services.Data was coded,computed and analyzed using SPSS version 11.5.A total of 1336 and 556 patients from Beasat and Tohid hospital respectively received antibiotic.Male patients represented 758(41.5 %)and females 1080(58.5 %)of the total number of patients evaluated by physicians at the two hospitals during the one month period.Usage of antibiotics varied from hospital to hospital;Beasat hospital had the highest usage.The ward-wise distribution of antibiotic use showed that the prevalence of prescribing was highest in the post partum ward(66.58%).Similarly,among Tohid hospital wards,men surgical ward and women surgical ward prescribed antibiotics significantly more than all other wards.The route of administration of antibiotics was parentrally for 85.5% and 88.2% at Beasat anf Tohid hospitals respectively.The distribution of use of individual antibiotics showed that cepfzoline was the most frequently prescribed antibiotics used at both the hospitals.Delivery(childbirth)and pneumonia were the most frequent diagnosed pattern for which an antibiotic was prescribed at Beasat and Tohid hospital respectively.In conclusion our study suggests that there is considerable scope for improving prescribing pattern among the practitioners and minimizing the use of antibiotics.The improvement would be facilitated by providing feedback,prescriber education and hospital formulary.展开更多

At the same time, teachers are paying more attention to the blog, and it will gradually become a new English teaching method. For its own bright characteristics, blog plays a specific role in the teaching, and remedies some defects in traditional teaching. Teachers can share their thoughts with their students by using blog, they also use blog to do research with their colleagues. By expatiating on the use of blog in English teaching, the author proposes that the blog will play an important role in establishing a new English teaching system and a new learning pattern, which will lead to improvement in learning and teaching evaluation.展开更多
