The vehicle industry is always in search of breakthrough energy-saving and emission-reduction technologies.In recent years,vehicle intelligence has progressed considerably,and researchers are currently trying to take advantage of these developments.Here we consider the case of many vehicles forming a queue,i.e.,vehicles traveling at a predetermined speed and distance apart.While the majority of existing studies on this subject have focused on the influence of the longitudinal vehicle spacing,vehicle speed,and the number of vehicles on aerodynamic drag and fuel economy,this study considers the lateral offset distance of the vehicle queue.The group fuel consumption savings rate is calculated and analyzed.As also demonstrated by experimental results,some aerodynamic benefits exist.Moreover,the fuel consumption saving rate of the vehicle queue decreases as the lateral offset distance increases. 展开更多

Studying the relationship between ionic interactions and salt solubility in seawater has implications for seawater desalination and mineral extraction.In this paper,a new method of expressing ion-to-ion interaction is proposed by using molecular dynamics simulation,and the relationship between ion-to-ion interaction and salt solubility in a simulated seawater water-salt system is investigated.By analyzing the variation of distance and contact time between ions in an electrolyte solution,from both spatial and temporal perspectives,new parameters were proposed to describe the interaction between ions:interaction distance(ID),and interaction time ratio(ITR).The best correlation between characteristic time ratio and solubility was found for a molar ratio of salt-to-water of 10:100 with a correlation coefficient of 0.96.For the same salt,a positive correlation was found between CTR and the molar ratio of salt and water.For type 1-1,type 2-1,type 1-2,and type 2-2 salts,the correlation coefficients between CTR and solubility were 0.93,0.96,0.92,and 0.98 for a salt-to-water molar ratio of 10:100,respectively.The solubility of multiple salts was predicted by simulations and compared with experimental values,yielding an average relative deviation of 12.4%.The new ion-interaction parameters offer significant advantages in describing strongly correlated and strongly hydrated electrolyte solutions. 展开更多

According to the investigations on the oil and gas pipelines such as the Lan-Cheng-Chong pipeline and the Southwest pipeline, there are two ways of laying pipeline: pipelines paralleling (approximately) to the main slide direction and pipelines perpendicular (approximately) to the main slide direction. If earth-retaining walls have been built for pipelines paralleling to the main slide direction, they will prevent the lands from sliding; On the contrary, without earth-retaining walls, the sharp broken rocks in the backfilling soil will scratch the safeguard of the pipeline when the landslides take place. Pipelines perpendicular to the main slide direction can be classified into four types according to the relative positions between pipelines and landslides: Pipelines over the slide planes, pipelines inside the fracture strips of slide planes, pipelines below the slide planes and pipelines behind the backsides of landslides. The different dynamical mechanisms of the process in which landslide acts against pipelines are analyzed based on whether the pipelines are equipped with fixed frusta, because the sliding resistance depends on whether and how many fixed frusta are equipped and the distance between frusta. 展开更多

A novel method is proposed to o... Overtaking accidents caused by improper operations performed by a driver occur frequently. However, most stud?ies on overtaking safety have neglected research into driver control input. A novel method is proposed to obtain the driver control input during the overtaking process. Meanwhile, to improve the safety of overtaking, two types of safe distances, and the time of the overtaking are considered. Path constraints are established when considering the two types of safe distances. An optimal control model is established to solve the minimum time maneuver under multiple constraints. Using the Gauss pseudospectral method, the optimal control problem is converted into a nonlinear pro?gramming problem, which is then solved through sequential quadratic programming(SQP). In addition, the e ective?ness of the proposed method is verified based on the results of a Carsim simulation. The simulation results show that by adopting an inverse dynamics method to solve the manipulation problem of the vehicle’s minimum overtaking time, the manipulation capability of a vehicle in completing an overtaking safely within the minimum time can be obtained. This method can provide a reference for research into the active safety of manned and unmanned vehicles. 展开更多

The traditional grey incidence degree is mainly based on the distance analysis methods, which is measured by the displacement difference between corresponding points between sequences. When some data of sequences are missing (inconsistency in the length of the sequences), the only way is to delete the longer sequences or to fill the shorter sequences. Therefore, some uncertainty is introduced. To solve this problem, by introducing three-dimensional grey incidence degree (3D-GID), a novel GID based on the multidimensional dynamic time warping distance (MDDTW distance-GID) is proposed. On the basis of it, the corresponding grey incidence clustering (MDDTW distance-GIC) method is constructed. It not only has the simpler computation process, but also can be applied to the incidence comparison between uncertain multidimensional sequences directly. The experiment shows that MDDTW distance-GIC is more accurate when dealing with the uncertain sequences. Compared with the traditional GIC method, the precision of the MDDTW distance-GIC method has increased nearly 30%. 展开更多

In this study,the effects of standoff distance (SOD) on the supersonic flow fields (including gas and particle flow fields) during cold gas dynamic spraying ( CGDS ) are investigated by means of computational fluid dynamics (CFD). The variation of velocity,temperature,pressure and density with different SoD is elucidated through the analysis of the distribution properties of the flow fields. It is found that the shock waves in front of the substrate remarkably influence the gas and particle flow fields. The wave system of expansion waves and pressure waves come into being continuously. The velocity of gas reaches the super.,;onic speed at the position of the Mach disc, while it decreases sharply when the gas flow crosses the Mach disc. The optirnal SoDs are 40 mm for 1 um particles and 50 mm for both 5 um and 22 um particles. 展开更多

Positioning technology based on wireless network signals in indoor environments has developed rapidly in recent years as the demand for locationbased services continues to increase.Channel state information(CSI)can be used as location feature information in fingerprint-based positioning systems because it can reflect the characteristics of the signal on multiple subcarriers.However,the random noise contained in the raw CSI information increases the likelihood of confusion when matching fingerprint data.In this paper,the Dynamic Fusion Feature(DFF)is proposed as a new fingerprint formation method to remove the noise and improve the feature resolution of the system,which combines the pre-processed amplitude and phase data.Then,the improved edit distance on real sequence(IEDR)is used as a similarity metric for fingerprint matching.Based on the above studies,we propose a new indoor fingerprint positioning method,named DFF-EDR,for improving positioning performance.During the experimental stage,data were collected and analyzed in two typical indoor environments.The results show that the proposed localization method in this paper effectively improves the feature resolution of the system in terms of both fingerprint features and similarity measures,has good anti-noise capability,and effectively reduces the localization errors. 展开更多

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of low-dose tibolone therapy on ovarian area, uterine volume and endometrial thickness, and define the cut-off value of endometrial thickness for curettage during uterine bleeding. We followed 619 postmenopausal women, aged 40-60 years, for two years. There were 301 subjects in the low-dose tibolone treatment group and 318 subjects in the control group. The ovarian area, uterine volume and endometrial thickness in all participants were measured by transvaginal ultrasound prior to, one and two years post enrollment, respectively. Endometrial specimens were collected from all subjects with abnormal uterine bleeding during the follow-up period. We found that the uterine volume in the treatment group was greater than that in the control group, and the difference was significant (P〈0.05), but there were no significant differences in ovarian area and endometrial thickness between the two groups (P〉0.05). When the cut-off value for endometrial thickness was 7.35 ram, the sensitivity and specificity were 100% and 79.07%, respectively, and 85.71% and 93.02% when 7.55 mm was set as the cut-offduring tibolone therapy. The results indicate that low-dose tibolone therapy may postpone uterine atrophy and the cut-off value of endometrial thickness may be appropriately adjusted for curettage. 展开更多

Attribute reduction,also known as feature selection,for decision information systems is one of the most pivotal issues in machine learning and data mining.Approaches based on the rough set theory and some extensions were proved to be efficient for dealing with the problemof attribute reduction.Unfortunately,the intuitionistic fuzzy sets based methods have not received much interest,while these methods are well-known as a very powerful approach to noisy decision tables,i.e.,data tables with the low initial classification accuracy.Therefore,this paper provides a novel incremental attribute reductionmethod to dealmore effectivelywith noisy decision tables,especially for highdimensional ones.In particular,we define a new reduct and then design an original attribute reduction method based on the distance measure between two intuitionistic fuzzy partitions.It should be noted that the intuitionistic fuzzypartitiondistance iswell-knownas aneffectivemeasure todetermine important attributes.More interestingly,an incremental formula is also developed to quickly compute the intuitionistic fuzzy partition distance in case when the decision table increases in the number of objects.This formula is then applied to construct an incremental attribute reduction algorithm for handling such dynamic tables.Besides,some experiments are conducted on real datasets to show that our method is far superior to the fuzzy rough set based methods in terms of the size of reduct and the classification accuracy. 展开更多

The relationship between RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indication) values and distance is the foundation and the key of ranging and positioning technologies in wireless sensor networks. Log-normal shadowing model (LNSM), as a more general signal propagation model, can better describe the relationship between the RSSI value and distance, but the parameter of variance in LNSM is depended on experiences without self-adaptability. In this paper, it is found that the variance of RSSI value changes along with distance regu- larly by analyzing a large number of experimental data. Based on the result of analysis, we proposed the relationship function of the variance of RSSI and distance, and established the log-normal shadowing model with dynamic variance (LNSM-DV). At the same time, the method of least squares(LS) was selected to es- timate the coefficients in that model, thus LNSM-DV might be adjusted dynamically according to the change of environment and be self-adaptable. The experimental results show that LNSM-DV can further reduce er- ror, and have strong self-adaptability to various environments compared with the LNSM. 展开更多

As a hot topic in Landscape Ecology study,ecological connectivity is an important indicator for regional land sustainable use and biological protection. This paper conducted a systematic assessment of ecological connectivity using remote sensing images of Dongshan Island in 1994, 2003 and2011. Based on least-cost modelling, the method takes into consideration the type of barrier, the distance impact, and the adjacent land use types to obtain the Barrier Effect Index(BEI) and Ecological Connectivity Index(ECI). The application of this method to Dongshan Island showed the ecological connectivity index(ECI) was low in 1994, improved in 2003, and decreased significantly in 2011. The results of the dynamic analysis of landscape structure showed farmland and roads were the main landscape classes that caused the low observed ECI in 1994 and 2003;these tended to divide the landscape and cause fragmentation. Construction land and roads were the main landscape classes resulting in low ECI in 2011,while forest and grassland had a high ECI. Trajectory analysis showed ECI tended to decrease in the low mountain forest zone of the northwestern and southeastern parts of Dongshan Island as well as in the coastal protection forest area. The areas where ECI became high were located in the northeastern part of Dongshan Island where cities and towns are concentrated with high human populations.Therefore, rapid urbanization has been the most important factor driving changes in landscape structure and patterns during the last 17 years on Dongshan Island. The approach not only assists us in revealing the driving mechanism of landscape dynamics from another aspect, but also can assess the impacts of regional and urban plans on landscape structure and function. 展开更多

We employ molecular dynamic simulation to investigate metabasin dynamics for supercooled polymer melt. We find that, in a small system, the α-relaxation process is composed of a few crossing events that the monomers hops from one metabasin to another. Each crossing event is very rapid and involves a democratic movement of many particles,whereas such collective motion is not string-like. Evaluation on the contributions of metabasin exploration and democratic movement shows that the structural relaxation is mostly governed by the latter. Our calculated results show that the metabasin–metabasin transitions are not the main reason of spatially dynamical heterogeneity. It is different from the binary Lennard–Jones mixture model in which the metabasin–metabasin transitions are relevant for the spatially dynamical heterogeneity. 展开更多

In this work, we propose an algebraic recursion method to study the dynamical evolution of the two-site Bose- Hubbard model. We analyze its properties from the viewpoints of single partite purity, energy, and trace distance, in which the model is considered as a typical bipartite system. The analytical expressions for the quantities are derived. We show that the purity can well reflect the transition between different regimes for the system. In addition, we demonstrate that the transition from the delocalization regime to the self-trapping regime with the ratio r/increasing not only happens for an initially local state but also for any initial states. Furthermore, we confirm that the dynamics of the system presents a periodicity for η = 0 and the period is tc =π/2J when the initial state is symmetric. 展开更多

In this study,we attempted to perform an earthquake source dynamic inversion to obtain dynamic parameters on fault system with complex geometry.The forward modeling of the spontaneous rupture process is carried out using a boundary integral equation method(BIEM)based on unstructured meshing,and the inversion method is implemented by a genetic algorithm based on a parallel acceleration of the GPU.The source model in this study is a branched fault,which is described by two physical parameters,the initial stress T0 and the critical slip-weakening distance Dc.We investigated the effect of the inherited parameters on the accuracy and convergence of the inversion simulation.Numerical results showed that if a set of parameters are assigned properly,the inversion of rupture parameters is accurate and converges fast.It is easy to converge to a local optimal solution during the inversion process if inappropriate inherited parameters are selected.Compared with T0,D。has better convergence and accuracy in.the inversion process. 展开更多

It is found that the luminosity distance of the extragalactic object in the closed cosmic model, the observed model and model are approximately the same up to z = 0.1535. However, the luminosity distance in the close cosmic model approximately agrees with its value in the observed model up to z = 0.6442. Estimations of the horizon distance of the universe, the total mass and the mass of matter within the horizon distance, the equivalent numbers of the Milky Way-like galaxies and the Coma-like clusters of galaxies to the mass of matter were computed in the closed cosmic model at the present time. 展开更多

Four cosmological distances were investigated in the light of the five general cosmic models which were developed in a previous study. These are the proper distance, luminosity distance, angular diameter distance and distance modulus. Each of these distances was studied in terms of the redshift of the extragalactic objects. Estimations of the horizon distance of the universe, the total mass and the mass of matter within the horizon distance, the equivalent numbers of the Milky Way-like galaxies and the Coma-like clusters of galaxies to the mass of matter were determined in the general models at the present time. 展开更多

For the insertion of the extra guard bands, an efficient strategy based on self-assessment is applied to each victim cell individually and independently. Consequently, it is no more required to spread the extra guard band over the whole DSA region. Simulation results StlOW an improvement of 3% -4% in percentage of satisfied users for Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) network and 4%-5% for Digital Video Broadcasting Terrestrial (DVB-T) network. 展开更多
