Using digital laser dynamic caustics experimental system and conducting simulation experiment researched the influence rule of blasting excavation of a new roadway on neighboring existed different cross-section roadways. The experimental results show that the influence of blast load on adjacent roadway has a good relationship with the cross-section of roadway. The expansion distance of precrack existed in circular, arch-wall, rectangular roadway is respectively 1.76, 1.61 and 0 cm under blast load.At the same time, the direct-blast side of rectangular roadway has more obvious damage compared with circular and arch-wall roadway. It explains that plane reflects more stress wave than arc, so that it exerts more tensile failure in the direct-blast side, which leads to less stress wave diffracting to the precrack in the back-blast side. When the precrack extends, higher value dynamic stress intensity factor in circular roadway works longer than that of arch-wall roadway. Indirectly, it explains that plane's weakening function on stress wave is significantly stronger than arc. Stress wave brings about self-evident influence on the upper and bottom endpoints of the rectangular roadway, and it respectively extends 1.03, 2.06 cm along the line link direction of the center of the blasthole and the upper and bottom endpoints on the right wall. 展开更多

According to the established prediction model of internal solitary wave loads on FPSO in the previous work, the lumped mass model and the movement equations of finite displacement in time domain, the dynamic response model of interaction between internal solitary waves and FPSO with mooring lines were established.Through calculations and analysis, time histories of dynamic loads of FPSO exerted by internal solitary waves,FPSO’s motion and dynamic tension of mooring line were obtained. The effects of the horizontal pretension of mooring line, the amplitude of internal solitary wave and layer fluid depth on dynamic response behavior of FPSO were mastered. It was shown that the internal solitary waves had significant influence on FPSO,such as the large magnitude horizontal drift and a sudden tension increment. With internal solitary wave of −170 m amplitude in the ocean with upper and lower layer fluid depth ratio being 60:550,the dynamic loads reached 991.132 kN(horizontal force),18067.3 kN(vertical force)and−5042.92 kN·m(pitching moment).Maximum of FPSO’s horizontal drift was 117.56 m.Tension increment of upstream mooring line approached 401.48 kN and that of backflow mooring line was−140 kN.Moreover, the loads remained nearly constant with different pretension but increased obviously with the changing amplitude and layer fluid depth ratio.Tension increments of mooring lines also changed little with the pretension but increased rapidly when amplitude and layer fluid depth ratio increased. However,FPSO’s motion increased quickly with not only the horizontal pretension but also the amplitude of internal solitary wave and layer fluid depth ratio. 展开更多

Energy-absorbing rockbolts have been widely adopted in burst-prone excavation support, and their serviceability is closely related to the frequency and magnitude of seismic events. In this research, the splittube drop test with varying impact energy was conducted to reproduce the dynamic performance of MP1rockbolts under a wide range of seismic event magnitudes. The test results showed that the impact process could be subdivided into four distinct stages, i.e. mobilization, strain hardening, plastic flow(ductile), and rebound stage, of which strain hardening and plastic flow are the primary energy absorbing stages. As the impact energy per drop increases from 8.1 to 46.7 k J, the strain rate of the shank varies between 1.20 and 2.70 s^(-1), and the average impact load is between 240 and 270kN, which may be considered as constant. The MP1 rockbolt has a cumulative maximum energy absorption(CMEA) of 31.9–40.0 k J/m, with an average of 35.0 k J/m, and the elongation rate is 11.4%–14.7%, with an average of 12.7%, both of which are negatively correlated with the impact energy per drop. Regression analysis shows that energy absorption and shank elongation, as well as momentum input and impact duration, conform to the linear relationship. The complete dynamic capacity envelope of MP1 rockbolts is proposed, which reflects the dynamic bearing capacity, elongation, and distinct stages. This study is helpful to better understand the dynamic characteristics of energy-absorbing rockbolts and assist design engineers in robust reinforcement systems design to mitigate rockburst damage in seismically active underground excavations. 展开更多

Appropriate interaction between pantograph and catenary is imperative for smooth operation of electric trains.Changing heights of overhead lines to accommodate level crossings, overbridges, and tunnels pose significant challenges in maintaining consistent current collection performance as the pantograph aerodynamic profile, and thus aerodynamic load changes significantly with operational height. This research aims to analyse the global flow characteristics and aerodynamic forces acting on individual components of an HSX pantograph operating in different configurations and orientations, such that the results can be combined with multibody simulations to obtain accurate dynamic insight into contact forces.Specifically, computational fluid dynamics simulations are used to investigate the pantograph component loads in a representative setting, such as that of the recessed cavity on a Class 800 train. From an aerodynamic perspective, this study indicates that the total drag force acting on non-fixed components of the pantograph is larger for the knuckle-leading orientation rather than the knuckle-trailing,although the difference between the two is found to reduce with increasing pantograph extension.Combining the aerodynamic loads acting on individual components with multibody tools allows for realistic dynamic insight into the pantograph behaviour. The results obtained show how considering aerodynamic forces enhance the realism of the models, leading to behaviour of the pantograph-catenary contact forces closely matching that seen in experimental tests. 展开更多

This study explores the effects of dynamic and static loading on rock bolt performance a key factor in maintaining the structural safety of coal mine roadways susceptible to coal bursts.Employing a housemade load frame to simulate various failure scenarios,pretension-impact-pull tests on rock bolts were conducted to scrutinize their dynamic responses under varied static load conditions and their failure traits under combined loads. The experimental results denote that with increased impact energy, maximum and average impact loads on rock bolts escalate significantly under pretension, initiating plastic deformation beyond a certain threshold.Despite minor reductions in the yield load due to impactinduced damage, pretension aids in constraining post-impact deformation rate and fluctuation degree of rock bolts.Moreover,impact-induced plastic deformation causes internal microstructure dislocation, fortifying the stiffness of the rock bolt support system. The magnitude of this fortification is directly related to the plastic deformation induced by the impact. These findings provide crucial guidance for designing rock bolt support in coal mine roadway excavation, emphasizing the necessity to consider both static and dynamic loads for improved safety and efficiency. 展开更多

The stability control of fissured rock is difficult, especially under static and dynamic loads in deep coal mines. In this paper, the dynamic mechanical properties, strain rate evolution and energy dissipation of fissured and anchored rocks were respectively obtained by SHPB tests. It was found that bolt can provide supporting efficiency-improving effect for fissured rock against dynamic disturbance, and this effect increased quadratically with decrease in anchoring angles. Then, the energy dissipation mechanism of anchored rock was obtained by slipping model.Furthermore, bolt energy-absorbing mechanism by instantaneous tensile-shear deformation was expressed based on material mechanics, which was the larger the anchoring angle, the smaller the energy absorption, and the less the contribution to supporting efficiency improvement. On this basis, the functional relationship between energy dissipation of anchored rock and energy absorption of bolt was established.Taking the coal-gangue separation system of Longgu coal mine as an example, the optimal anchoring angle can be determined as 57.5°–67.5°.Field monitoring showed fissured rock with the optimal anchoring angle, can not only effectively control the deformation, but also fully exert the energy-absorbing and efficiency-improving effect of bolt itself. This study provides guidance to the stability control and supporting design for deep engineering under the same or similar conditions. 展开更多

Tensile failure(spalling or slabbing)often occurs on the sidewall of deep tunnel, which is closely related to the coupled stress state of deep rock mass under high pre-static load and dynamic disturbance. To reveal the mechanism of rock tensile failure caused by this coupled stress mode, the Brazilian disc tests were carried on red sandstone under high pre-static load induced by dynamic disturbance.Based on the pure static tensile fracture load of red sandstone specimen, two static load levels(80%and 90%of the pure static tensile fracture load)were selected as the initial high pre-static loading state, and then the dynamic disturbance load was applied until the rock specimen was destroyed. The dynamic disturbance loading mode adopted a sinusoidal wave(sine-wave)load,and the loading wave amplitude was 20%and 10%of the pure static tensile fracture load, respectively. The dynamic disturbance frequencies were set to 1,10,20,30,40,and 50 Hz.The results show that the tensile failure strength and peak displacement of red sandstone specimens under coupled load actions are lower than those under pure static tensile load, and both parameters decrease significantly with the increase of dynamic disturbance frequency. With the increase of dynamic disturbance frequency, the decrease range of tensile strength of red sandstone increased from 3.3%to 9.4%when the pre-static load level is 80%.While when the pre-static load level is 90%,the decrease range will increase from 7.4%to 11.6%.This weakening effect of tensile strength shows that the deep surrounding rock is more likely to fail under the coupled load actions of pre-static load and dynamic disturbance. In this tensile failure mechanism of the deep surrounding rock, the stress environment of deep sidewall rock determines that the failure mode of rock is a tensile failure, the pre-static load level dominates the tensile failure strength of surrounding rock, and dynamic disturbance promotes the strength-weakening effect and affects the weakening range. 展开更多

Piled embankments, which offer many advantages, are increasingly popular in construction of high-speed railways in China.Although the performance of piled embankment under static loading is well-known,the behavior under the dynamic train load of a high-speed railway is not yet understood. In light of this,a heavily instrumented piled embankment model was set up,and a model test was carried out,in which a servo-hydraulic actuator outputting M-shaped waves was adopted to simulate the process of a running train.Earth pressure, settlement, strain in the geogrid and pile and excess pore water pressure were measured. The results show that the soil arching height under the dynamic train load of a high-speed railway is shorter than under static loading. The growth trend for accumulated settlement slowed down after long-term vibration although there was still a tendency for it to increase.Accumulated geogrid strain has an increasing tendency after long-term vibration. The closer the embankment edge, the greater the geogrid strain over the subsoil.Strains in the pile were smaller under dynamic train loads, and their distribution was different from that under static loading. At the same elevation, excess pore water pressure under the track slab was greater than that under the embankment shoulder. 展开更多

The present work is aimed at studying the mechanic properties of the extra-wide concrete self-anchored suspension bridge under static and dynamic vehicle loads. Based on the field test using 12 heavy trucks and finite element simulations, the static deformations of different components, stress increments and distributions of the girder, as well as the vibration characteristics and damping ratio of the Hunan Road Bridge were analyzed, which is the widest self-anchored suspension bridge in China at present. The dynamic responses were calculated using the Newmark-β integration method assisted by the simulation models of bridge and vehicles, the influences on the dynamic impact coefficient(DIC) brought by the vehicle parameters, girder width, eccentricity travel and deck flatness were also researched. The spatial effect of the girder is obvious due to the extra width, which performs as the stress increments distribute unevenly along the transverse direction, and the girder deflections and stress increments of the upper plate change as a "V" and "M" shape respectively under the symmetrical vehicle loads affected by the shear lag effect, cross slope and local effect of the wheels, the maximum of stress increments are located in the junctions with the inner webs. The obvious girder torsional deformation and the apparent unevenness of the hanger forces between the two cable planes under the eccentric vehicle loads, together with the mode shapes such as the girder transverse bending and torsion which appear relatively earlier, all reflect the weakened torsional rigidity of the extra-wide girder. The transverse displacements of towers are more obvious than the longitudinal ones. As for the influences on the DIC, the static effect of the heavier vehicles plays a major role when pass through with a higher speed and the changes of vehicle suspension stiffness generate greater impacts than the suspension damp. The values of DIC in the vehicle-running side during the eccentric travel, affected by the restricts from the static effects of the eccentric moving trucks, are significantly smaller than the vehicle-free side, the increase in the road roughness is the most sensitive one among the above influential factors. The results could provide references for the design, static and dynamic response analysis of the similar extra-wide suspension bridges. 展开更多

Expanded polystyrene(EPS)particle-based lightweight soil, which is a type of lightweight filler,is mainly used in road engineering. The stability of subgrades under dynamic loading is attracting increased research attention. The traditional method for studying the dynamic strength characteristics of soils is dynamic triaxial testing, and the discrete element simulation of lightweight soils under cyclic load has rarely been considered. To study the meso-mechanisms of the dynamic failure processes of EPS particle lightweight soils,a discrete element numerical model is established using the particle flow code(PFC)software. The contact force, displacement field, and velocity field of lightweight soil under different cumulative compressive strains are studied. The results show that the hysteresis curves of lightweight soil present characteristics of strain accumulation, which reflect the cyclic effects of the dynamic load. When the confining pressure increases, the contact force of the particles also increases. The confining pressure can restrain the motion of the particle system and increase the dynamic strength of the sample. When the confining pressure is held constant,an increase in compressive strain causes minimal change in the contact force between soil particles. However, the contact force between the EPS particles decreases, and their displacement direction points vertically toward the center of the sample.Under an increase in compressive strain, the velocity direction of the particle system changes from a random distribution and points vertically toward the center of the sample. When the compressive strain is 5%,the number of particles deflected in the particle velocity direction increases significantly, and the cumulative rate of deformation in the lightweight soil accelerates. Therefore,it is feasible to use 5%compressive strain as the dynamic strength standard for lightweight soil.Discrete element methods provide a new approach toward the dynamic performance evaluation of lightweight soil subgrades. 展开更多

This work presents a novel approach to the dynamic response analysis of a Euler-Bernoulli beam resting on a Winkler soil model and subjected to an impact loading. The approach considers that damping has much less importance in controlling the maximum response to impulsive loadings because the maximum response is reached in a very short time, before the damping forces can dissipate a significant portion of the energy input into the system. The development of two sine series solutions, relating to different types of impulsive loadings, one involving a single concentrated force and the other a distributed line load, are presented. This study revealed that when a simply supported Euler-Bernoulli beam, resting on a Winkler soil model,is subject to an impact load, the resulting vertical displacements, bending moments and shear forces produced along the span of the beam are considerably affected. In particular, the quantification of this effect is best observed, relative to the corresponding static solution, via an amplification factor. The computed impact amplification factors, for the sub-grade moduli used in this study, were in magnitude greater than 2,thus confirming the multiple-degree-of-freedom nature of the problem. 展开更多

By means of the improved split Hopkionson pressure bar(SHPB) with axial pre-pressure and confined pressure, two series of experiments on sandstone are carried out to research the failure mode of rock during the course of exploitation of resources in deep. One is under the conditions that the con-fining pressure is fixed and the axial pressure is changeable. The other is under the conditions that the confining pressure becomes and the axial pressure is fixed. It is found that samples break up evenly after impacting when axial static pressures are low, there is great disparity in size of fragments when axial static pressures are high, and the main bodies of samples after the tests under the combination of dy-namic and static loads frequently show the type of V or X. The samples are more close-grained at the elastic stage and impacts make many cracks be generated and developed, as makes samples more crackable. At the initial phase of damage stage, the static pressures make some cracks in the samples which are undeveloped and the impacts′ role is similar to that at the elastic stage. At the metaphase or anaphase of damage stage, these cracks in the samples develop adequately and the impacts mainly accelerate samples′ failure. The main bodies of samples show the type of V or X after impacting due to the confining pressures′ restraining samples′ lateral formation at the elastic stage or the initial phase of damage stage, the main bodies of samples have almost formed at the stage loading static pressures and the results after impacting usually are similar to those under the axial pressures tests. 展开更多

A complete road-soft ground model is established in this paper to study the dynamic responses caused by vehicle loads and/or daily temperature variation.A dynamic thermo-elastic model is applied to capturing the behavior of the rigid pavement, the base course, and the subgrade, while the soft ground is characterized using a dynamic thermo-poroelastic model.Solutions to the road-soft ground system are derived in the Laplace-Hankel transform domain. The time domain solutions are obtained using an integration approach. The temperature, thermal stress, pore water pressure, and displacement responses caused by the vehicle load and the daily temperature variation are presented. Results show that obvious temperature change mainly exists within 0.3 m of the road when subjected to the daily temperature variation, whereas the stress responses can still be found in deeper places because of the thermal swelling/shrinkage deformation within the upper road structures. Moreover,it is important to consider the coupling effects of the vehicle load and the daily temperature variation when calculating the dynamic responses inside the road-soft ground system. 展开更多

As the protective component, steel plate had attracted extensive attention because of frequently threats of explosive loads. In this paper, the evolution of microstructure and the mechanism of damage in the quasi-cracking area of steel plate subjected to explosive load were discussed and the relationships between micro defects and dynamic mechanical response were revealed. After the explosion experiment, five observation points were selected equidistant from the quasi-cracking area of the section of the steel plate along the thickness direction, and the characteristics of micro defects at the observation points were analyzed by optical microscope(OM),scanning electron microscope(SEM) and electron backscattered diffraction(EBSD).The observation result shows that many slip bands(SBs) appeared, and the grain orientation changed obviously in the steel plate, the two were the main damage types of micro defects. In addition, cracks, peeling pits, grooves and other lager micro defects were appeared in the lower area of the plate. The stress parameters of the observation points were obtained through an effective numerical model. The mechanism of damage generation and crack propagation in the quasicracking area were clarified by comparing the specific impulse of each observation point with the corresponding micro defects. The result shows that the generation and expansion of micro defects are related to the stress area(i.e.the upper compression area, the neutral plane area, and the lower tension area). The micro defects gather and expand at the grain boundary, and will become macroscopic damage under the continuous action of tensile stress.Besides, the micro defects at the midpoint of the section of the steel plate in the direction away from the explosion center(i.e.the horizontal direction) were also studied. It was found that the specific impulse at these positions were much smaller than that in the thickness direction, the micro defects were only SBs and a few micro cracks, and the those decreased with the increase of the distance from the explosion center. 展开更多

The Sichuan-Tibet transportation corridor is prone to numerous active faults and frequent strong earthquakes. While extensive studies have individually explored the effect of active faults and strong earthquakes on different engineering structures, their combined effect remains unclear. This research employed multiple physical model tests to investigate the dynamic response of various engineering structures, including tunnels, bridges, and embankments, under the simultaneous influence of cumulative earthquakes and stick-slip misalignment of an active fault. The prototype selected for this study was the Kanding No.2 tunnel, which crosses the Yunongxi fault zone within the Sichuan-Tibet transportation corridor. The results demonstrated that the tunnel, bridge, and embankment exhibited amplification in response to the input seismic wave, with the amplification effect gradually decreasing as the input peak ground acceleration(PGA)increased. The PGAs of different engineering structures were weakened by the fault rupture zone.Nevertheless, the misalignment of the active fault may decrease the overall stiffness of the engineering structure, leading to more severe damage, with a small contribution from seismic vibration.Additionally, the seismic vibration effect might be enlarged with the height of the engineering structure, and the tunnel is supposed to have a smaller PGA and lower dynamic earth pressure compared to bridges and embankments in strong earthquake zones crossing active faults. The findings contribute valuable insights for evaluating the dynamic response of various engineering structures crossing an active fault and provide an experimental reference for secure engineering design in the challenging conditions of the Sichuan-Tibet transportation corridor. 展开更多

Automation advancements prompts the extensive integration of collaborative robot(cobot)across a range of industries.Compared to the commonly used design approach of increasing the payload-to-weight ratio of cobot to enhance load capacity, equal attention should be paid to the dynamic response characteristics of cobot during the design process to make the cobot more flexible. In this paper,a new method for designing the drive train parameters of cobot is proposed.Firstly, based on the analysis of factors influencing the load capacity and dynamic response characteristics, design criteria for both aspects are established for cobot with all optimization design criteria normalized within the design domain.Secondly, with the cobot in the horizontal pose, the motor design scheme is discretized and it takes the joint motor diameter and gearbox speed ratio as optimization design variables. Finally, all the discrete values of the optimization objectives are obtained through the enumeration method and the Pareto front is used to select the optimal solution through multi-objective optimization.Base on the cobot design method proposed in this paper,a six-axis cobot is designed and compared with the commercial cobot. The result shows that the load capacity of the designed cobot in this paper reaches 8.4 kg,surpassing the 5 kg load capacity commercial cobot which is used as a benchmark. The minimum resonance frequency of the joints is 42.70 Hz. 展开更多

As the basic protective element, steel plate had attracted world-wide attention because of frequent threats of explosive loads. This paper reports the relationships between microscopic defects of Q345 steel plate under the explosive load and its macroscopic dynamics simulation. Firstly, the defect characteristics of the steel plate were investigated by stereoscopic microscope(SM) and scanning electron microscope(SEM). At the macroscopic level, the defect was the formation of cave which was concentrated in the range of 0-3.0 cm from the explosion center, while at the microscopic level, the cavity and void formation were the typical damage characteristics. It also explains that the difference in defect morphology at different positions was the combining results of high temperature and high pressure. Secondly, the variation rules of mechanical properties of steel plate under explosive load were studied. The Arbitrary Lagrange-Euler(ALE) algorithm and multi-material fluid-structure coupling method were used to simulate the explosion process of steel plate. The accuracy of the method was verified by comparing the deformation of the simulation results with the experimental results, the pressure and stress at different positions on the surface of the steel plate were obtained. The simulation results indicated that the critical pressure causing the plate defects may be approximately 2.01 GPa. On this basis, it was found that the variation rules of surface pressure and microscopic defect area of the Q345 steel plate were strikingly similar, and the corresponding mathematical relationship between them was established. Compared with Monomolecular growth fitting models(MGFM) and Logistic fitting models(LFM), the relationship can be better expressed by cubic polynomial fitting model(CPFM). This paper illustrated that the explosive defect characteristics of metal plate at the microscopic level can be explored by analyzing its macroscopic dynamic mechanical response. 展开更多

Owing to the integration of energy digitization and artificial intelligence technology, smart energy grids can realize the stable, efficient and clean operation of power systems. However, the emergence of cyber-physical attacks, such as dynamic load-altering attacks(DLAAs)has introduced great challenges to the security of smart energy grids. Thus, this study developed a novel cyber-physical collaborative security framework for DLAAs in smart energy grids. The proposed framework integrates attack prediction in the cyber layer with the detection and localization of attacks in the physical layer.First,a data-driven method was proposed to predict the DLAA sequence in the cyber layer.By designing a double radial basis function network, the influence of disturbances on attack prediction can be eliminated.Based on the prediction results,an unknown input observer-based detection and localization method was further developed for the physical layer. In addition,an adaptive threshold was designed to replace the traditional precomputed threshold and improve the detection performance of the DLAAs.Consequently, through the collaborative work of the cyber-physics layer, injected DLAAs were effectively detected and located.Compared with existing methodologies, the simulation results on IEEE 14-bus and 118-bus power systems verified the superiority of the proposed cyber-physical collaborative detection and localization against DLAAs. 展开更多

For expedited transportation, vehicular tunnels are often designed as two adjacent tunnels, which frequently experience dynamic stress waves from various orientations during blasting excavation. To analyze the impact of dynamic loading orientation on the stability of the twin-tunnel,a split Hopkinson pressure bar(SHPB)apparatus was used to conduct a dynamic test on the twin-tunnel specimens. The two tunnels were rotated around the specimen’s center to consider the effect of dynamic loading orientation.LS-DYNA software was used for numerical simulation to reveal the failure properties and stress wave propagation law of the twin-tunnel specimens. The findings indicate that, for a twin-tunnel exposed to a dynamic load from different orientations, the crack initiation position appears most often at the tunnel corner, tunnel spandrel, and tunnel floor. As the impact direction is created by a certain angle(30°,45°,60°,120°,135°,and 150°),the fractures are produced in the middle of the line between the left tunnel corner and the right tunnel spandrel. As the impact loading angle(a)is 90°,the tunnel sustains minimal damage, and only tensile fractures form in the surrounding rocks. The orientation of the impact load could change the stress distribution in the twin-tunnel,and major fractures are more likely to form in areas where the tensile stress is concentrated. 展开更多
