The main problem faced by ethanol oxidation reaction(EOR)includes low activity, poor selectivity, and durability. In the study,we found that polysulfide modified on the surface of PtCu intermetallic(IM)/C can simultaneously enrich hydroxyl and ethanol, which could effectively improve the catalytic activity,CO_(2) selectivity, and durability of catalyst. The mass activity and the specific activity of the product in 1 M KOH electrolyte reached 17.83 A·mgPt^(-1) and 24.67 mA·cm^(-2).The CO_(2) selectivity of polysulfide modified product achieved 93.5%,which was 30 folds higher than Pt/C.In addition, the catalyst showed high catalytic stability. The mechanism study demonstrates that the surface modified polysulfide could significantly boost the enrichment effect of ethanol and hydroxyl species, accelerating C–C bond cleavage and CO oxidation. 展开更多

Improving the highly selective and sensitive binding of chemosensor to target guest is always very challenging. In order to solve this issue, herein, the enrichment effect was introduced into the design of chemosensor molecule.A novel bi-fused-macrocyclic host molecule BPN1 was synthesized by bridging a pillar[5]arene and a naphthalene diimide(NDI)group through hydrogen-bond-rich chain. In the BPN1,the naphthalimide side ring is outside the cavity of the pillar[5]arene.In addition,Cr(VI)greatly threat human health and the environment due to its severe toxicity, and it is very important to develop effective chemosensor for sensitive and selective detection of Cr_(2)O_(7)^(2-)or its ion pairs. In this paper, the novel bi-fused-macrocyclic host molecule BPN1 can recognize Cr_(2)O_(7)^(2-)with high selectivity and sensitivity. The mechanism of BPN1 recognition of Cr_(2)O_(7)^(2-)was studied through experiments and density functional theory(DFT),the results show that BPN1 could supply enrichment effect to bind Cr_(2)O_(7)^(2-)through multiple weak interactions such as hydrogen bonds and anion-π,and achieve highly sensitive and selective detection of Cr_(2)O_(7)^(2-).It is a significant and feasible strategy for improve high selectivity and sensitivity of host to specific objects by using the enrichment effect of fused bi-macrocyclic. 展开更多

Two cruises for multi discipline investigation were conducted in October and November, 1998 in Daya Bay to collect: (1) samples from five levels including sea surface microlayer (SML), subsurface (SSL), surface, body (mid column) and bottom water; and (2) observational data on chlorophyll a and nutrients, and important factors such as turbidity, BOD, COD, TN, TP and phytoplankton. Results showed that there was no enrichment of chlorophyll a in the SML, but quite notable enrichment of some organic matter and nutrients. Compared with the findings in earlier researches, PO 4 P and SiO 3 Si have decreased, and the N/P ratio has increased obviously to even more than 100 in the SML. It is concluded preliminarily that PO 4 P and SiO 3 Si mainly determine phytoplankton growth in Daya Bay at present. 展开更多

The coupling of model batteries and surface-sensitive techniques provides an indispensable platform for interrogating the vital surface/interface processes in battery systems. Here,we report a sandwich-format nanopore-array model battery using an ultrathin graphite electrode and an anodized aluminum oxide(AAO)film. The porous framework of AAO regulates the contact pattern of the electrolyte with the graphite electrode from the inner side, while minimizing contamination on the outer surface. This model battery facilitates repetitive charge-discharge processes, where the graphite electrode is reversibly intercalated and deintercalated, and also allows for the in-situ characterizations of ion intercalation in the graphite electrode. The ion distribution profiles indicate that the intercalating Li ions accumulate in both the inner and outer surface regions of graphite, generating a high capacity of~455 mAh·g^(-1)(theory:372 mAh·g^(-1)).The surface enrichment presented herein provides new insights towards the mechanistic understanding of batteries and the rational design strategies. 展开更多
